There will not be killer as successful as Wesker again (probably)
So can we just stop comparing every killer that comes out with Wesker from now on? I'm tired of hearing people complain about new chapters all the time and bring Wesker into the conversation when BHVR hit a gold mine with Wesker. There also hasn't been a killer like Wesker before him either, but you don't compare older chapters to Wesker. Wesker cannot be replicated. Expecting to get a killer like Wesker will only result in disappointment. Not even Nemesis compares to Wesker, despite the game reaching peak player numbers during the release of the first RE chapter.
End of rant.

I mean true, but I hope people understand too that this is the same reason that they see so much weskers, when no other killer is as fun and as rewarding as he is expecting people to play something like trapper or pig is foolish to say the least.

I'm not the one who's been complaining about versing Wesker (for now at least lol), I am just bothered that the people who post here compare every new chapter to Wesker's chapter. That kind of success is not able to be replicated. From a killer perspective even Nemesis isn't that successful of a killer, despite bringing in way more players. And they're both from RE.

Wesker was the last good, strong, fun killer. When multiple killers in a row are weak and bad, it’s not surprising people want to compare them to the last success.

Find me a killer who is both fun and strong and extremely popular that isn't Blight or Nurse that released before Wesker. I'll wait.

If your point is “BHVR makes lots of bad killers,” then I agree.

Basically Wesker is the exception not the rule. So it's unfair both to BHVR and the killers themselves to be compared to Wesker.
If there's any killer who could have matched Wesker's hype in the past it's probably a licensed and not an original killer, and imo...even they are not that great from a playstyle point of view. BHVR hit the jackpot with Wesker, it's like one of those points in life that something incredible happens to you (idk, you won the lottery or something?) and then you compare every new experience to that high you experienced in that one exceptional moment. It's just a counter-intuitive thing to do.

We can, basekit blight is similar in terms of design with skill being needed on both sides etc. We just need a killer with a high skill fun power which there are a handful. I am sure they can come up with more.

I think it's a matter of setting the standard high. He's such a fun and balanced killer that anything below that will make the community feel.

huntress, before wesker she had the highest pickrate according to nightlight. people also really like demo even though he doesnt show up often, but thats due to dubious circumstances.

Did she have Wesker's pickrate though? Because Wesker also happens to be a licensed character.

I just disagree with op.
Sometimes we are getting boring and weak killers. But then we are getting interesting and fun killers. Sometimes strong killers. It's good for DbD trying to make different type killers.
And the newest killer, the Singularity is not weak btw, he is easy A tier killer. But his power is clunky to control and honestly i found him so boring.

From what I've seen on the forums no one seems to like Singularity. I don't disagree with you, but the forum killers don't seem to appreciate him. I'm not saying we will never get a fun/interesting killer again, I'm simply saying it won't be as much of a huge deal as Wesker because duh, he's not Wesker. So killer releases probably will never reach that amount of hype, not that the quality will be bad.

according tom released pickrate stats across all MMR, yeah just about. He only had that 25% pickrate in top 5%

It's completely fair to compare new killers to Wesker. Why should the playerbase be happy with badly-designed, unfun killers when the devs have shown they're capable of making good, fun killers?
They make a killer like Wesker and then the same team makes Knight and Skull Merchant and are apparently happy with them. No, it's lazy, it's bad design desisions and it's something that should be called out.

No one is asking for them to churn out Wesker repeats, but the design approach that was used with Wesker can be used to make genuinely better improvements to existing killers and making great new killers. They didn't suddenly strike gold in a one off chance, this game is almost ten years old and Wesker is the best example of the dev team hit all the boxes for making a killer who is fun to play against, to play as, and accessible to all players while having plenty of depth for advanced players.
It's a formula that can be used again and would avoid having killer powers the likes of Knight, Skull Merchant, and Singularity's being as aggravating as they are for both sides. It would be wonderful if killers like Trickster, Trapper, and Clown could get a passover to see where they can trim away some of the junk bits and smooth out their play patterns so they just flow comfortably.

Singularity's pretty close to being fun imo
He's just mechanically extremely obnoxious to play. Placing cams is a pain due to its collision, using cams is a pain because of the narrow FOV, the switch time, and that you have to hold on a survivor for a half second to place it on him.
It's pretty fine on open maps, torture on indoor maps. Especially lerys.

Wesker may have the highest pick rate, but he seems to have an average kill rate. Even if people are complaining about facing him very often, they are quite competent to survive.

I would bet money a chapter like Alien or F13 would be just as if not more popular than Wesker.

Huntress and Wraith. Not as popular as Wesker, but before he released these 2 made up the majority of survivor games and they still are very popular.
I would also say Demo if it weren’t for the fact that he got Netflix’d.
Hillbilly was also really fun, strong and popular before his nerfs.

add a secondary objectives to do with blight and they are pretty similar. Blight has no slowdown.

He definitely doesn't need any.
He's got one of the best chase powers in the game with insane mobility and map pressure. Couple that with crazy add-ons and he's the strongest Killer in the game.

nah i know he doesnt need. i was just comparing both killers from playing perspective !

Ah, I misunderstood.
Apologies.

Whilst as a blight main I would love that, I dont think we need to make blight any stronger than he already is lol.

Doesn't change the fact that BHVR have not done a good job regarding Singularity and the 2 chapters before. Singularity got released and INSTANTLY needed a buff. If that doesn't kill the hype for a new killer, I don't know what will. And even with the buffs it got it's still only mediocre. Not super good, not super bad. Just a mediocre killer with an incredibly high skill floor.
Creating different killers is good but if the difference is: "One is strong and fun and the other boring and weak in comparison." that is bad design. BHVR have proven that they are capable of creating strong and fun killers. But the last 3 don't fit this category. They are all either weak or simply not fun to play and 2 of them are even worse to play against.

Knight is strong killer when they use power for chase. It's just players which uses his power for camp or 3-gen.

Spirit is a lot of fun to play and she has some pretty outfits :) You don't have to wait anymore!

You're the only one who gave me Spirit though and Spirit was pretty strong back then.
