Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Guys, we need to be honest about this game...

I’m a DBD solo player and since that patch where we had a great reformulation of perks, this game has become a really boring. It seems that we have to beg for some fun with every match, whether surv or killer.

We don’t need to get into this crazy fight about what is good or not when it comes to perks and strategies during the gameplay, but we miss very simple things. I keep watching my old matches in mid 2019/2020, I miss the old maps (darker and with bizarre noises of the entity that really scared), I miss SO MUCH the old movement of the survivors, when we were really limping when we were hurt. I miss seeing killers who are the face of this game being chosen to play again (like the Hag, Billy, Trapper, Spirit, etc.)

I miss putting together really efficient builds that bring me the feeling that I am helping my team during the survivor match. It’s understandable that you want to change the meta of the game, but you don’t do it by killing iconic perks like Dead Hard, Decisive Attack, Devour Hope, Noed, etc...

When you did that, you left this game for those who are expert in this game and forgot the ones who are here just to have fun. It’s really, really, REALLY sad… 😞

It seems that, at some point, the magic of the kingdom of the entity that enchanted us was lost when some developers is very worried about updating the game to a more “fresh and new”, which is good. But we absolutely lost the essence of the game with so many wrong parchs.

At the very least, I think they could come back with at least one option where we could choose which movement of survivors we want: the old one, when we were hurt and we were half luped or this current one that leaves us 100% straight and without any facial expression.

I honestly hope you guys read this with love and think about it ❤️

This thread reeks of nostalgia blinding.

Also as someone who's played since the beta, i absolutely hated all the old stuff that once was in the game, including all the old things mentioned in this thread and i genuinely hope none of it ever returns again.

i started playing august 2021. Seeing old clips of dbd, I wish they'd kept old visuals and stuff. green autohaven especially.

However I disagree about perk balance. Certain perks actually need major changes, like dead hard which you mentioned. Simply clicking a button to instantly gain distance isnt fair. and neither is tanking a down with the same method infinitely.

With all due respect, but I remain firm with my opinion on everything I have written on this topic. Even if I sounded a little nostalgic, ok?

I understand some opinions about the necessary changes about some perks (especially Dead Hard) that some people don't think are fair. But, at the same time, all this changes gives the killer enough power to camp and tunnel a survivor freely and that's NOTHING cool either. That's why the DS urgently needs to return to its original version.

I can barely remember a solo match that I can escape without being tunneled and camped with 5 generators to be done yet...

While the developers of this game do not find a solution for a COOL balance, they could at least launch some mode/server where we could play the game in the old version of 2019/20, just for fun. :)

You say that because you didn't have go through the pain of playing that version of the game.

DBD pre-engine update was indeed atmospheric and spooky to look at, but it also was overly taxing on pc resources. It was also just flat out bad to play in as well because things like letting players control already sorta too dense fog and map wide lighting meant that most matches were spent trying to chase people around in fog that would stun an Englishman with basically not enough light to see what you were doing.

The animations that are very expressive and smooth looking are actually "new" animations made for the game. Now from what I understand survivors at the time didn't like them because they apparently made it harder to run loops in a super tight manner and it removed the ability to dumb things like moonwalk and spins. So if you really want the old animations of old DBD then you're in luck cause that is what we have now more or less.

The old versions of maps were horribly balanced for both sides and I'm glad their gone and in some cases twice removed. I get having nostalgia for an older period of the game, but in hindsight it kinda just sucked. There are many things about old DBD that made the experience far worse than what it is now.

This post just sounds like: New things bad, old better.

The game is in the best spot it has been in years. Build variety, most killers are viable, maps suck less.
