Whats up with the insane hard-tunneling today?

I have played 16 games since i came home from work. And no kidding, every game the killer have gotten someone on hook, and everytime they get saved they come back and ignore everyone else to go for that same guy. All 16 games? Whats up, tunnel-friday or something?

Probably because toucing a gen is considered gen-rushing so they use that as an excuse to tunnel at five gens. I'm glad my killers aren't playing like that for sure.

What happened during the chase? Was there tea-bagging, flashlight spam, things that survivors due to taunt the killer?

Sometimes a tunnel is justified. A survivor runs infiinte loops and getting them down helps the killer as the looper is gone.

Sometimes the survivor taunted and earned it.

Sometimes the killer is just being a turd.

Any number of reasons, and from what I've seen it's rarely the same reason in each case.

In my experience the weekend brings out the sweats on both sides. If you play with the incentive you get less sweats, but they still can occur.

Had three people attempt to tunnel me for no reason and DC when they threw the game and lost with 0 kills.

In other words just a normal day of dbd.

My games were fine. Didn't have a tunneller in any today

It’s normal tunneling someone out for pressure (if you’re wanting to win), while I agree sweaty games can be tedious and boring, but gen efficient teams, you really can’t screw around if you’re wanting to win as killer.

It’s inevitable. You have good killers that can tunnel efficiently, then, you have the ones who tunnel just to tunnel and that’s where user error comes in.

pretty much every day. most killers are realizing they can win almost every game by tunneling. same as mic-facilitated genrush.

Then they sit here and complain about people leaving matches in whatever form they desire, to top it off they want them punished for not playing a match that isn’t entertaining in the slightest. You as a person are supposed to just sit there and take whatever abuse is given, game is supposed to be fun, not treated as if lives depend on it

These tactics wouldn't be so bad if they actually took some sort disagree of difficulty to pull off... but they don't. Any noob killer can stand still to camp or follow someone all game to tunnel. This can cause low level players to beat more skill players consistently which isn't fine at all. The perks power creep is also ridiculous to point that it almost pay to win. I don't see how this could be consider a competitive game when your skill doesn't even matter half the time.

I had terrible games yesterday too, the 22nd of July being yesterday here.

Camped, slugged and bled out for 4 minutes several times and multiple Thana Legion games. It was like I just could not get a good game and I would have switched to killer but I have literally one Steam achievement left for survivor so grinding that.

Dunno what was going on yesterday but yeah, the games and killers in particular were mostly awful

Same. Every single game was a 0k. Just wasn't feeling it I guess.

So rather than learning to evade the killer more efficiently or working as a team to body block and take hits so the tunnelled player can make distance and escape you just quit?

Feeding the killer a free kill and undermining your own team mates.

A tunneller can’t ruin your game only you can do that by getting upset over tunnelling or any other game mechanic for that matter.

I don’t think it’s the tunnellers that ruin dbd it’s the quitters and the entitled really.

It's because gens fly too fast and MFT has made end game chases almost untenable. Kill one early, better chance of not getting shat upon.

In slightly different terms than I would have used, but I feel both of these comments hit the mark.

The logical, competitive side of me understands why the behavior is so common. But looking a bit further, I can also logically conclude how this behavior is nothing if not detrimental to the game. ...which is why it is so strange to me when people want to be apathetic and condescending to those who express their grievances about the issue.

"Because I can" and "because I should" are not the same.

We’ll yeah but let’s really assess what happens here.

You fail to escape the killer and get eliminated early. Then you queue for another game and move on.

    Done.

The ability to chose who you should chase is part of the game. Sometimes you will get focused on and get eliminated, it’s an elimination game.

Having a melt down about it and attacking other players is toxic and frankly just nuts but it’s very common that people grossly overact if eliminated 1st in an elimination game.

One poster here likened it to being repeatedly kicked in the nuts, the only way that’s remotely equivalent is if you punch yourself in the nuts anytime you get tunnelled at which point the solution is not remove tunnelling but to stop punching yourself is the nuts when it happens.

I realise they were joking but to attach that kind of emotional weight to getting eliminated early in a game means it’s time for a break.

Can we stop acting like the survivors force are hand? The eruption 3gen era was maybe the strongest meta for killer and people still tunnel a great amount. So no gens flying and mft got nothing to do with it. When i tunnel (which is rarely) it because i wanna win and not because of some impossible situation the survivor put me in.

"which is why it is so strange to me when people want to be apathetic and condescending to those who express their grievances about the issue."

These strats are beatable with good players but the fact that any low level players can Implement them are terrible. This should be a hard to master tactic that decent to good level killers can use to mount a comeback. But as it stand... it to easy to utilize allowing new killers to destroy low levels survivor which is horrible for retaining players. It take a unreasonable amount of time to learn how to counter these tactics and most players just give up on the game after going through it.

  • KayTwoAyy
    KayTwoAyy Member Posts: 1,699

    Totally agree with you.

It makes any attempt at improving in the game feel meaningless. Those who are just starting out see no reason to learn and develop, and those who already devoted time to mastering the game feel cheated. For the longevity of the game, there is no goal for players to work towards, so they'll just do something more mentally rewarding.

It be like that sometimes. Best thing you can do is throw on Overcome+OTR and hoof it clear across the map away from the gens that need to be done. If the killer is doing it, get as much value out of it as you can for your team

Just adding on another example, dude failed the facecamp and then tunneled THEN facecamped again, gave this excuse.

    Why even play killer lol?

The question you should ask is "why is matchmaking working like this"

It's not killer's fault for being in a wrong lobby where he can't really do anything.

Not sure if you were part of it but 3/4 of that team seems to be a swf given how 3 people just happened to have MFT + Resilience and were all on anon mode.

Also that Rebecca was running No Mither, which is kind of painting a target on her back lol.

More context is probably needed but the Killer might have figured that it was a swf before or during the match, prompting them to change their playstyle accordingly. Camping and tunneling are usual turn to strategies against swf because altruism if executed wrongly can give the Killer a chance to snowball.

^ person who has only played dbd as their most competitive game. I literally do not tunnel under any circumstance, but your leaving games early in any regard automatically disregards anything you say. The people on the forum complaining about dcs/suicides are either non tunneling/camping killers or survivors, but hey keep that mentality.

I truly hope you can come to be less selfish for both roles sake.

It's just normal at this point, I think.

I doubt it's going to go back to how chill it was in years past. Perhaps that's a good thing, perhaps it isn't.

Tunneling and proxy'ing is the new norm, no matter your position on it; we all need to accept it's likely here to stay unless or until BHVR intervenes.

    Sharby Member Posts: 498

He had similar hours to everyone else, I could understand if we were gen-rushing or if his first chase cost him a lot so he needed to swap strats for the rest of the trial, but committing to a 3-gen chase at the start and then failing the face-camp is his own fault.

I think this is yet another reason why hiding Prestige/Profiles till the end of the match would be healthier, killers would probably be a lot less stressed and inclined to do something dumb based on assumptions.

Ultimately, there's not much value in doing anything other than forcing out an early kill when possible.

The problem in DBD community is that you blame player for tunneling instead of game design. It is like blaming your opponent for moving bishop in chess. There are rules for the game.

There's one way to put a end to camping and tunneling and it's something you probably don't want to hear.

Stop playing! By continuing to keep playing you are telling the DEVs you are fine with this type of gameplay.

Hours mean nothing, they can all be on other killers or even on survivor. Since he's P3 it is reasonable to assume he's not playing Bubba too often (or at all).

You want killers not to see player prestige so they would commit to desperate games more? I mean, sure, it makes sense for a survivor to want an easy stomp game, easy stomp games are fun when you are not the one being stomped, but I don't feel like only survivors should be taken into account in this scheme.

  • Sharby
    Sharby Member Posts: 498

As opposed to P100 killer streamers lobby shopping until they find survivors outside of their skill range to slaughter for content? Which has happened to my casual friends plenty, to the point where they're scared to queue with me now.

Neither side should be able to see profiles and prestiges or both sides should be able to, its only fair. Especially since you can go on anon mode which I do all the time.
