why slug out the 3rd survivor for the last survivor?

to me, it's annoying when it's just me & the other teammate left and the killer just leaves me on the ground(or vice versa) for a whole few minutes having nothing else to do but just to lie down there while he just tries to find the other last teammate, being all sweaty & thirsty for the 4k. i mean it's better to end the match soon than just waste your time, it won't hurt you if the last one is going to find the hatch. not sure why some people do this, because when i play killer i don't really care whether the last survivor is gonna escape through the hatch or not; it'll still count as a win for me, having killed more than 2 survivors.

Yeah it can be kind of annoying but it is what it is. The only time I can kind of agree that it's okay is when I see that the killer was going for adept.

its annoying and wastes our times. I only slug last one if I know where is the last survivor. if I dont, I will hook and search for hatch.

I'm doing the adept. otherwise I just hook.

or maybe there's a sacrifice all survivors tome or something like that.

I don't like slugging 3 to get 4 unless 4 really pissed me off during the match.

Now with bots in the game, I'll slug them to find the last because they have no feelings about it.

if it's for an achievement then it's understandable, it just goes to the ones who do it for absolutely no reason

Well, you are free to run to the killer and let him just hook you. ITs not him wasting time, its both of you together.

But i almost never slug for a 4k, because a) i think its more thrilling to race the last survior for the hatch than just wait till the times runs out, and b) most of the time i come to the hatch first anyway.

Because hatch is a BS mechanic that punishes killer for winning the match and rewards survivors for losing. If the killer won before the final gen is repaired, he is entitled to a 4k.

Imagine if once 3 survivors escaped, the exit gates would be blocked and the final survivor would have to go looking for the hatch while the killer can kill them despite losing.

Even if you win the hatch race, the survivor still gets a chance to escape through the exit gates anyway. So the killer has to win 3 times: win the match, win the hatch and win the gates. Slugging for 4k bypasses than and allows the killer to secure the victory they deserve. If you don't like being slugged, just go on a break, it will only take 2-4 minutes.

Just because 3k increases MMR doesn't make it a win. 4k is required for challenges, adepts, emblems and bloodpoints.

With removal of hook grabs most killers don't even have a chance to secure 1 kill in the endgame, but survivors always have a chance to get 1 escape for free.

Slugging for the 4K is indeed sweaty, but thats just what the changes in the last two years encouraged. Every round of widespread nerfs didn't relax most peoples stand, but indeed dug the trenches even deeper. The "Us vs Them" mentality became a much ingrained part of this games culture and by its very nature its very easy to get swept away in a flood of emotions and find yourself in a "oh damn you, I will show you!!!" mindset.

Depending on how feisty and audacious the survivors were I will do my best to not let get them away, they didn't show me one inch of slag themselves and used every little trick in the book to make me look dumb. Heck, even if you win, you can never really win, because 9/10 times you "only won because of this busted mechanic" or "lol, even with 2k hours I could 360 you two times. You so bad lol."

And one argument that no one wants to hear and that, according to my survivor main friends isn't even remotely applicable, but I see it differently, is this:

When slugging and sweating for the 4K is so despised and the concensus is that the killer should relax a bit and just hook that last survivor, why is it then that survivors, who absolutely dominated the match, never say "you know what? That killer had a measly 3 hooks, all gens are done. Lets leave that one guy on the hook and just leave, let the killer have their one kill." It basically NEVER happens. Or when was the last time that a survivor, who lingered in the exit area, said "you know what? That killer did pretty well ... hear, just hook me." The last thing happened to me about 4 or 5 times in my entrie DBD career and each time I felt a pang of guilt and wanted to let the survivor go, but they insisted and didn't crawl out. In my own matches with my SWF group we sometimes decide on giving the killer a mercy hook, when they seem new or did spectacularly bad, but I know that this is really, really rare and we usually don't let us getting sacrificed.

Circling back: a mercy hook is a rare choice, but I have NEVER seen a group with a realistic chance of getting the "easy 4E" not reset and swarming the hook, trading hits and reaching the exit safely. Never. And this is the foil to slugging for the 4K: you could end the game then and there, but you are greedy and thirsty for the full reward, so you go out of your way to steal whatever meager success the opposition has out of their hand, so that you can have the full four quarter cake.

Getting a mirror handed back to you is never nice, but this isn't something that is exclusively killer, survivors do it all the time, too, and in their hands its socially acceptable.

Because for some reason Killers think that they dont win hard enough when they dont get a 4K. Even if the Survivors dont manage to do a single Gen, it is not enough to get a 3K, nope, it has to be the 4K. Even if the Killer has any advantage when it comes to finding the Hatch (faster and no need to hide, the Survivor usually can only find it by pure luck).

Personally, I dont really slug for the 4K unless I see the 4th Survivor when downing the 3rd OR when Number 4 pissed me off OR when Number 4 was completely unhelpful for their team. In the last instance I rather give the 3rd one Hatch or when I take too long to catch the 4th, I also give the 3rd one the Hatch for wasting their time on the ground.

They need to get to the top of the world leaderboard so they can get paid.

remove hatch and these won't happen anymore. i understand people that don't want to lose their kill to some rng based garbage design.

The last survivor will beckon you over the hatch and rant "ez noob killer" in endgame chat. Not all survivors are guaranteed to be, but there's no guarantee that you or your friends aren't bad players.

If people sweating that 4k for an adept or pips then it will happen. Personally unless I'm trying to adept I'll only do it if the last person has 0 or 1 hook state and i want to catch them. Then I'll usually let the slugee go

Hatch is needed, though, in order to give the survivors a glimmer of hope and to prevent spiteful stealth and hostage situations. Its better for the game to end when the survivor can no longer win, then to have hour long hide and seek sessions.

EDIT: I wouldn't mind a hope system for killers, though :P 4% Hope mechanic to peel yourself from the hook? Imagine if a killer with zero kills had a 4% chance to just mori a survivor they knocked down :D Hillarious

I see plently of survivors BM when they get hatch, so I can understand just not wanting to put up with it.

Yeah I disagree, I see no issue with it as survivor. If the last guy is looking for the hatch then the killer earned a 4k since you wouldn't be in that situation in the first place if he hadn't.

Ya'll don't want your time wasted? Then tell your friend to walk up to the killer instead. Ya'll are literally wasting his time exactly how you think he's wasting yours. You think it's bad he feels entitled to that 4k while ya'll are wasting his time since you feel entitled to the hatch escape.

On that topic, why should the hatch exist in the first place? It's a pity free escape chance that wasn't earned.

It is a choice ya'll are making to have your games dragged out like that. If the real issue was wasting your time from him slugging ya'll have it in your power to not have your time wasted. Does it sound silly for me to expect you or your friend in that slug scenario to just give yourself to the killer? That's exactly how silly it would be to tell the killer to just give the 4th guy a free escape.

To expect a killer to give a free escape but not expect a survivor to give a free kill would be a double standard.

Because if you don't secure a 4K, survivors will teabag in front of the Hatch or gates.

they can just give killers the ability to open gates after x minutes into the match, and this would solve the issue where 2 people take killer hostage which currently killer has nothing to do about. if survivors are motivated to play the match only to get hatch, you already know how their gameplay goes and that playstyle is unhealthy in a team game.
