Nostalgia
I just watched a video of someone playing on old Haddonfield. I hated it back then but for some reason I want this horrible map back. I don't know why but I somehow preferred it over the new one.
The lighting was something very different from what we have on other maps and even though this map was terribly broken I still preferred chasing in the old buildings compared to the new ones. The new map looks beautiful and is less unfair but I really liked the blue-ish colors of the old version.
What are some things you hated back then but that you somehow want back now?

I'd take the same layout with graphical update 🤷🏻

In retrospect having Hawkins back would be nice
I absolutely hated it but I’ve changed my mind

Original cold wind for sure
Just bring it back without corn vision lol

I finally got to play it on DBD mobile when it came out because it had all the old maps still. And wow it's so fun to play on (not for the killer.)
I think the most charming thing about old dbd map design/look was that it felt surprisingly authentic and realistic despite being objectively lower quality.
The newer stuff/reworks feels less immersive and more video-gamey. I think adding clutter to maps to make them feel richer in design was a mistake.

I think it's more about colors and lighting, honestly. Garden of Misery is pretty cluttered but I find it quite immersive. The new maps look good, no doubt about that. But they aren't really authentic as you said. Especially the new Coldwind maps. They look great but I'd trade them for the old versions in a heartbeat. And I experienced how bad they actually were first hand.
I still have nightmares about the old harvesters.

The window vaults being on fences were iconic. That, and they changed the side of the street that the main house was on. Still feels uncanny to me.
Another thing is that there's only like 4 pallets that aren't on the main road or a house. Does anyone remember the square-shaped bushes tile on old Haddonfield?

The one with a bench in the middle and where there could spawn a hook in a corner? These were pretty cool because they didn't look too much like randomly added clutter to give the survivors something to work with.

I prefer old haddonfield over new

was a bad map? YES , More bad than the current one? NO , which is interesting because the only problems with the old one was the RNG window spawns on some houses and the long fences that were terrible for m1 killers.
BUT if we compare that to the new haddonfield , i would say the old haddonfield even if it was survivor sided , it was more fun for both sides IMO if RNG was actually fair on just 1 generation of the map.
and then you look at the current where is just a massive area of dead zones , the houses are god windows for the most part and 1 has a solid infinite (if played correctly) , pallets that had no mindgame , and pallets that are soo bad that you need to play boring pre-droping them to get a bit of value out of them.
I miss old haddonfield a lot...maybe not old house of pain but still.....the new one looks pretty but the gameplay is awful
