This new killer terrifies me to my core
Noticed the announcement. Got a feeling of fear that was dredged out of my gut.
Read the news. Got reminded and felt a sting of agony about what to come.
Dared me on the tube to watch the ingame PTB fotage.
My childhood trauma awoke from a long slumber. This game does not scare me anymore i told myself. It rarely gives me adrenaline. But seeing the Xenomorph run rampid terrfied me to my core. I watched the PTB fotage with a spellbinding terror and facination and a gutwrenching feeling.
Not the gore, not the chases, but the killer itself. The aspect of it.
When i went to bed last night i was affraid of the dark, i never am. When i brushed my teeth before bed i had to turn on all the lights.
A five year old should not watch Alien. And an adult man should not have to relive that childhood trauma. I guess this is it for me, i guess this is the end of my Dead by Daylight days. The killer is to well designed. I can never play survivor again if even the speck of a chance of facing the Xenomorph.. being chased by .. It. Exists.
This is a truly scary killer.

You should really get some help on that. Also, have a serious word with your parents, as i assume they had something to say about you watching that movie as a 5year old.

Thank you for your consideration.
I think my post used a bit to dramatic language.
And i had evil cousins at a sleepover. So my parents couldnt so much.
I guess playing against the xenomorph will work as my CBT exposure!

My granddad let me watch Halloween when I was 8 years old and it didn't affect me much. I know it and Alien are very different, but it's fascinating to me how different two people's reactions can be to seeing scary movies as a kid.

I watched the Excorcist at 7 and got bored. Demons? Phwe..
Super aliens that use you as an incubator? Real #########.

Well, it all depends. I myself saw alien when i was 11 years old (and my parents werent at home), but by then i had a very firm understanding that movies are seperated from reality. i never had a bad sleep after a movie, and thus had a little more wiggle room with my parents. My younger brother, though, could not, so he wasnt allowed to watch the same things as i would at the same age.
My parents took those differences into consideration, but all this happend only at age 10+. And in terms on how children handle this stuff, a 8 year old is years away from a 5 year old in that regard (my son turned 9 4 months ago, my daugther will turn 5 in 4 months. I have a good comparison for that at the moment ^^)
