Can BHVR stop making Tome challenges that encourage toxic plays?
See also: The Clown challenge in the 2nd page of the Event tome that requires four sacrifices in one match encouraging tunneling and slugging.

Entity forbid challenges are actually, y'know, challenging.
The horror.
22 -
Oh please, there's nothing challenging about it.

I don't think a mere 4K is toxic imo.
But, I do have to wonder why they they decided to do that. In the past, there have been several times where challenges say "no survivor escapes through the exit gate" or "with no more than 1 survivor alive". In those instances, a 3K with the last getting hatch is enough to do the challenge.

I find "Kill obsession" worse than get kills. Obsession Challenges want you to tunnel people.
11 -
So we regard it a straight fact that Clown needs to tunnel / camp against competent survivors to win?
Good.
11 -
If it was four kills over a number of trials it would have been fine. But in one trial? I've had multiple Clowns who tunneled, camped, slugged or all three to secure their 4K.
That isn't fun.
I swear it sometimes feels like BHVR designed this game to generate as much toxicity as possible. I know that isn't the case but it's how it feels sometimes.

Like I said in my post above this, I have had multiple matches against Clowns who tunneled, camped, slugged or all three to secure a 4K to get the challenge done. The challenge might not be 'challenging' but the most efficient way of finishing it is miserable for survivors.
1 -
Not really toxic, just kinda difficult and ridiculous. Clown is one of the weakest killers in the game so honestly you have to play scummy to get a 4k with him.
5 -
Tunnelling and slugging isnt a 4k guarantee, so i dunno if this encourages that. If anything there might be an increase in lobby shopping to find a team of baby survivors to steam roll.
2 -
People speak out about toxic gameplay but here we have the devs indirectly encouraging it. Maybe down the line devs will report that they noticed a “surge of slugging” during this period in their dataset and rack their brains trying to figure out why not knowing they encouraged such behavior.
1 -
At least you can dance around it for the cosmetic, but if you're a completionist, yeah you go hard.
1 -
So... what makes that toxic exactly?
4 sacrifices is just a regular possible result from a match.
Tunneling and slugging are things that happen in matches but they aren't toxic by default.
6 -
Killing Survivors is toxic now?
5 -
You didn't list anything actually toxic
4 -
"OMG, the killer tries to win! Please, BHVR. Stop making challenges that encourage killers to actually play the game."
You are literally complaining about a killer trying to win. It's unfortunate that they tunneled / camped for that but the challenge itself is not the issue. It's more about tunneling and camping. Which will be looked at in the future.
6 -
This is definitely not the most toxic challenge. I think most of those are on survivors b/c they generally require a match throw
1 -
You can absolutely get 4 kills as the Clown without tunneling or/and slugging.
A lot of people tend to forget about "skill".
0 -
"But he's oppressive in chase!"
3 -
Average killers need tunnel/camp against competent teams to win, yes, as it should be.

I guess you could link me footage of a professional Clown 12-hooking a team who doesn't make basic mistakes, right?
Or is that just something you just believe because you can do it with mediocre solos?
4 -
Can I ask if Clown and survivors have equal skill, what's the result should be?
0 -
Based on how matchmaking defines skill, or do you have a personal definition we should be familiar with?
Because by the Mmmrntity's standard, a tunneling Clown is more skilled than one who plays by The Survivor Rulebook, and he should have a 60% kill-rate against an equally skilled team.
0 -
No no, I only ask in a match that a Clown and survivor team that both have equal skill, what the result should be?
Of course there are many factors that decide the match, but what it should be? 0-1-2-3-4k?
0 -
60% kill-rate of course. We know that.
Got any closer to finding that footage of the master-Clown 12 hooking a decent team?
0 -
Im not asking the kill rate. Im asking the result of that match. 0-1-2-3 or 4k
0 -
60% kill rate means 2 or 3 kills are expectable (2k more often, I'm lazy to calculate the exact chance).
0 -
What should the Clown do to get 4K that one match?
0 -
60% was a year ago, stop using statistics from a year ago, after which a lot of changes occurred (and even a year ago, BHVR said that you should not just rely on KR%, since it depends on various factors and only approximately shows the balance)
0 -
The 2/3k is of course an expectable average. In any single match players make make mistakes or outperform themselves, therefore all results are possible.
0 -
As far as I know, Matchmaking aims to make matches with a 60% kill-rate. If that's possible is of course depends on if players with sufficient ratings are available at any given time, therefore the results we see differ from that.
But my fellow player C3 asked in a hypothetical scenario when all players are equally skilled, and mmr is the only measurement of 'skill' we know of.

We dont know who make more mistakes, I dont mention about it.Assume both you and survivors have equal skill and both make the right play.
I just ask what you should do to get 4k (instead of 60%) in that match?
The answer is pretty close now!
0 -
Apparently you are not satisfied with my answer (overperforming or hoping the other players underperform), so you might as well present yours.

You try harder to get more kill. Use strong addon, perks, tunneling .ect
Survivors try harder to get less killed. Stack items, strong addon, perks .ect
In a match that if both sides have equal skill. Who tries harder win the match.
Back to beginning.Because that would stupid for “competent teams” that struggle to get 2e while killers can chill play for 12 hooks and still get 4k. You should try hard, tunneling to earn 4k
I dont like being tunneled as survivor, but tunneling is fair.
1 -
But what if my "skill" already includes trying as hard as I can? For example, I'm a Clown main, and in order to improve more I want to practice against the most efficient and experienced survivors out there, therefore I'm already using the most efficient tools and tactics available for a while?

Four sacrifices, oh, a challenge that requires DOING YOUR FULL OBJECTIVE encourages tunneling and slugging? So admit those are often needed in order of winning? Because if they are, then they aren't toxic.
2 -
I do agree that the tomes often have challenges that encourage toxic plays (i.e. kill obsession X number of times, or hide within 10 meters of the killer for X seconds in a single trial). But getting a 4k with Clown is not one of them.
1 -
They need to ditch those abysmal words "in one trial" from a lot of tome entries. Or have it as an optional challenge to the tome entry for more points, but otherwise the challenge can be done across multiple trials for lesser points.
0 -
It's really not that serious... And actually it's supposed to be a challenge for a reason, because it's meant to be difficult. Most people who don't play Clown will struggle more to do this, and that's the point.

Who knew winning in a video game was considered toxic
1 -
I just played that Clown Challenge and chose to slug for the 4k (which I hate doing) and even apologized in the chat for doing it. (Shockingly, they didn't care and just said bad things to me.) I am not a fan of these kind of things that encourage the more questionable habits of the game.
1 -
How? Just equip rancor and its donezo lol
Yeah you might not have them but you could always hold out from doing it till you get enough shards for Spirit or if it's on the shrine
0 -
Arguably it just incentivizes bringing Nemesis or Game Afoot as getting a max of 4 Obs kills/12 hooks from the perks is far easier.
0 -
But that's the point of playing killer. Getting kills
