Stop Making New Realms

With the recent release of the Alien Chapter PTB, I'm starting to notice something that I only scoffed at before. And that is the usage of new realms almost every chapter. Now you might wonder why does it matter? After all, new realms allow the Devs to make new and cool maps with different aesthetics. We'll there are 2 issues with this type of thinking.

For starters, we have so many realms with only 1 map to the point where there's really no point in making them. Why make a whole realm when only 1 map of it exists? Forsaken Boneyard? Ormand? Withered Isle? All realms with 1 map. Realms exists to add multiple maps into 1 category but if you're going to make 1 map for a realm, why even make realms in the first place?

And finally the Bloodweb economy. With all these new realms and maps getting added every 3 months, it just adds on a whole bunch of clutter to your bloodweb. Despite bloodweb items being cheaper and the Bloodpoint cap being raised to 2 million, it still does not accommodate how much clutter we have, along wit each new realm being added, adding more to it. Our bloodpoints are getting seeped out faster with little to no return on our investment. I can spend 2 million bloodpoints but get little to no map offerings of a specific map I want, offerings, items, etc. Doesn't help when you gotta invest in 100+ characters, both including survivors and killers. It's just too much for so little we have.

But I do have a solution. Unless it's a licensed map, any new original maps should take place in the realms we have so far. This not only allow DBD to explore these realms with a new look, such as Ormond Town, or the prison of Dead Dawg, saving money on resources since they can reuse models and textures, while also just being cool to explore a new version of a realm, but this allows us to also not have such cluttered Bloodwebs, once again, getting little to no investment back.

    I actually wondered this cuz.. ya know... both space lol.

    However, for the one map realms, I would love to see editions to Ormand, The Dredge realm, and the Deathslingers Realm. I would also like to see variations of Lery's and other indoor maps that have outdoor counterparts.

    I just don't see how the two new sci-fi themed chapters would have worked in the existing realm.

    I thought during the map reveal for the dredge map they did say something about returning to that realm so its basically confirmed ?

    I agree. If anything they should change the map offerings so that they DON'T send you to the realm offered. Many people would enjoy this change as just about everyone has a map they don't like. Also if all 4 Survivors and the Killer each used a different offering somehow, we would be guaranteed to not be sent to any of the offered maps. This would remove that obvious SWF or Killer planning a specific map to stomp the other side on.. Maps should be completely random, but BHVR could at least let us narrow down the RNG by subtracting maps from the pool with the offerings we give.

    That's a bug. It's called the Dvarka Deepwood in-game, but it has its own map offering to go to the Nostromo Wreckage. Even if it isn't a bug, the fact it has its own offering just means that it still adds to the problem of bloodweb clutter and too many map offerings.

    I would absolutely hate that, just like how i hate how Plague's map is set in Red Forest despite the fact that it's from Babylonia, so it should have been moved to something like Eyrie of Crows or better, just given it's own realm altogether to fit a desert environment.

    I still hate how MacMillan, Autohaven and Coldwind have multiple variants, however it's understandable that they exist since they're from a time where the quantity of maps was really low.

    Only map that fits an existing realm was Sanctum of Wrath, that's literally the only exception. I hope they continue to give each killer their own realm so we can continue to let each killer have a completely unique home map every time and reduce RNG from map offerings.

    I'd love to see a map that is an actual town with lots of little details. Downtown Ormand could be a really beautiful map, I think.

    Considering the Devs plan chapters months ahead, maybe they're going to add more maps to these new realms sometime in the future? I think the bigger issue is the BW clutter overall, and honestly, map-offerings are the least of our problems where the BW is concerned.

    The number of useless add-ons, items, etc. you're forced to buy just to get the actual item or perk you want, makes zero sense. I wish they would add a "resell" option, so you could at least get your BP back for the things you didn't want to buy in the first place.

    Although I would love to have more maps in the realms that have only one, I don't have anything against new realms (and would love to have the one they considered for the Trickster chapter).

    I absolutely agree about the map offerings, but I don't think the number of realms is the problem considering the Alien map is in the same realm as Singularity's but they have different map offerings. Instead of not making new realms BHVR should just delete map offerings and make new maps more likely to get for a week or two after they get released.

    But then it still has the exact same problem of addon clutter and reducing the chances of a green item you want because it's got a separate offering. So even if it isn't a new realm it doesn't fix anything.

    you already know I’m way more in favour of expanding on existing realms than adding more and more realms with only 1 map

    not to mention how wild it is that the offering is some man-sized doors. suspension of disbelief stretched very thin with that one

    they share a realm and still have separate offerings for some reason. tbh, this is probably the only case where it should be like that because Toba is horrible, while Nostromo seems to be pretty nice except main building against boil over clowns.

    I always thought the realms were simply another word for "collections". I don't feel it has any real impact.

    Whilst it would be nice to expand some realms, I'd get bored if they stopped producing new realms and just added maps that look similar.

    I'd be happy for both. Maybe a mid-chapter could be used to bring in a new map for an existing realm every once in a while. Maybe once/twice a year.

    New realms and new maps in old realms

    I'll take both, hopefully after the Swamp rework, they have more time creating new maps in old realms instead

    yep. i wouldn't mind more and more realms if map offerings were removed, there would be no bloodweb clutter and people wouldn't guarantee the one very map they want to go with the offering to the realm. also, map offerings are toxic ay eff.

    There is reason for that. The Plague's temple was brought TO THE RED FOREST by the Entity. All the realms are created by the Entity, based on what the Entity chooses Sure, they could move it to the desert, but it fits in the Red Forest because that's where The Entity chose to place it within the Entity's "copies" of the realms.

    I'm aware, however lore reasons aside, i still would have prefered that bhvr just moved it to Eyrie or given it it's own realm.

    Yeah! Why would we want the devs to take us to new and interesting places?! I'd much rather they just reiterate the same places we've already been over and over again! Forever!

    I think a much better suggestion is just to get rid of map offerings, or simplify them into indoor map offerings vs outdoor map offerings.

    A Blight map in Crotus (his trailer is inside a concrete building like Asylum and Chapel)

    A Twin map in Red forest (Charlotte scavenge in the wood)

    I feel SM should be in Red forest too, I prefer MacMillan estate only for Trapper. But at the same time maps without main building like Shelter wood should have a main building.

    Trickster main building in Crotus should also work


    They only need to make a mainbuilding for new killers if they use the old realm.

    The last map that share the same realm was Sactum or wrath. We feel the chapter was complete, a survivor, a killer, a map, even its the old realm.

    New realm is not necessary now. Given so many realms with 1 map

    It would be so cool to have a haddonfield like map but snowy themed for ormond. Could have the gas station where the legion got rheir first kill and Jeffs video tape store he worked at. Maybe have his dog running around somewhere

    I'd prefer a way to combine them, for BP Offerings at least

    That and a p10 reward to use any offerings you have on any other killer

    And for survivors, any offerings and items + addons
