My thoughts are this piece of art:

A little outdated, but still pretty topical in my opinion.

Meh. They can do alot better. Especially for me personally in the cosmetic department when they said they have done better there. But I dont see it. Especially when mostly the same 5 survivors always get something.

I think healing was nerfed too much. There should at least be difference between purple and grey med kits...

We know. Including meg, kate, mikaela, nea of course. If they gave more to less playable survivors they would definitely get a rise in playerbase. But yes. Money is way more important to them.

Well apparently there isn't a single employee at BHVR that can play their own game at the highest level on both sides, so how could we possibly expect them to balance either of those experiences in the best ways possible.. News flash.. We can't..

In conclusion and to summarize my thoughts on this entire teams efforts to try and make the game better for everyone.............. .......... .................................. ..................................................................... .............................................."Meh..".

I have my ups and downs with the game changes but I think they've "done a pretty good job so far". They've managed too keep a game, like nothing I've really played, alive and going, with a healthy player base for years. They seem to listen to feedback, give us regular updates, bring in good licensed content, and allow us to go wild with one another on these forums, to an extent. Some of the events are amazing as well.

I think they catch a lot of crap sometimes over silly things. Some of it kind of justified. Ahem, the flashlight bug fix back in the day, but they are people and everyone can make a mistake or bad decision from time to time.

It’s kind of a mad ask to not only make the game, but dedicate all of their free time to it as well. Developers have lives too, y’know.

Nobody is saying they need to spend their free time playing it, but they absolutely should be consulting high-level players in regards to balance changes. The streamers who play this game 10 hours a day 6 days a week is a more reliable source for balance than the dev who can't get out of grey ranks.

I could go on about balance forever as it's kind of my thing. They need people of high skill level playing their game and not just out in the wild. They need them on the INSIDE.. BHVR doesn't do that as if they're too proud to ask for advice OR they already know what the answers would be and are preemptively refusing the idea.. They let an extremely whining community balance their game for them instead.. The highest level of play is what all games should be balanced on as it trickles down the ladder more smoothly that way, but you can't even attempt to balance that way if none of your dev team has any clue what high level is and are just going off of whining to keep the player #'s up.

If BHVR want the state of this game to change for the better, eventually they'll have to start asking people who actually know everything about the game. Someone like OTZ is a perfect example. OTZ knows more about DBD than the majority of the devs AND players I'd wager, as he uses anything and everything in the game and has exhausted all types of play, but even just OTZ won't be enough. OTZ has more of a sugar coated mindset, which will work for the overall balance, but only to a certain extent. You need to counter OTZ's not so blunt nature with someone like Tru3Ta1ent. Another streamer who knows most of the, let's say 'numbers' of DBD. If I was BHVR I'd be ringing both of them, asking exactly what we need to do in terms of a sweeping health change for the game. Telling them to combine their minds and figure out what is best for the future.

All of this would be a strategy just to nurture the future. I mean it seems like they're either to proud to ask certain people in the community what they think should be done or they're just 'know it all's'.. If they think they have all the answers then, by all means, just keep going, but as they have shown time and time again, BHVR doesn't have a clue.. To make the game flourish they'll have to of course listen to community feedback and be more transparent, but more importantly, they need to be smart enough to know when to ignore the whining, which in this DBD community unfortunately, is most of the time.. They also shouldn't promise the idea that they'll be more transparent and then NEVER deliver..

They shouldn't be afraid to make their game the way they see fit, but if they're going to let people simply whining alter their decisions every time, then they might as well be asking for ACTUAL good advice from people like OTZ who know the game inside and out.. BHVR are stuck in a loop of, Let's try this... Oh, it didn't work out.. Let's try that... Oh, it didn't work again.. If they keep going in circles like this then I believe the game won't last another decade. I don't see why its so hard to ask select people in the community for help. Seems like an obvious thing to me.. You have a good handful of decent streamers doing DBD content with great ideas of how things work, yet you can't muster the courage or hide the pride to simply say to one of them, "Hey, we'd like to do a voice call with you some time and get your opinion on a few things. What do you think?" It's a shame that in particular is so hard for them, because at this point its beyond obvious that it's the correct route to take.. :/

All they could say to this ramble is, "Well, we have people who we're already paying to do just that..and we think we've done a pretty good job so far.." And then I immediately counter that statement with, "Well...guess WHAT?!.. What you're doing isn't working.."

    That's a bit harsh.

It's widely accepted the vast majority of the playerbase isn't in that "high" MMR area, what I call the efficient or "sweats" level. Nor is it balanced with that level foremost in mind.

They balanced Deathgarden, another game of theirs, around the highest level of skilled play and guess what happened? The game died. Lol.

Constructive criticism is always welcome; its ok to be frustrated about things and leave feedback regarding them. I know many times people feel "only positive feedback on the Forum", and that is not the case whatsoever (as Mandy has pointed out many times before).

What we do always expect is to follow the Forum Rules, including to keep the feedback civil and respectful; and that includes comments regarding BHVR as well.

Also in the Forum Rules, is to please not discuss Moderation Publicly. We of the Moderation Team are always happy to answer questions or concerns regarding the Forum Rules, and if you have issues with actions taken by a Mod, please message that Mod to discuss it.
