Why is the perk build variety so boring now?
I recently came back to Dead by daylight but it feels like build variety got nuked now. Maybe because all that's left is just altruistic heal your teammates and they get this or that effect if you stay within a certain 69 meters. Or generators info for your children perks. Hide your blood stain and scratch marks, etc.
Realistically I'm just running one perk now which is Hope. Maybe the builds are more varied now and it isn't just my cup of tea or I have yet to buy the 14 survivors got updated into this game after I left. Also killer builds has a ton of potential now instead of survivor the opposite thought of what I had before.

When did you leave? If you are talking about before 6.1.0 survivor then there was -20 perk variety.

Yeah idk what people are talking about. Perk variety was always terrible in this game. Pre 6.1.0 every single survivor build was DS, DH, Unbreakable, And some mix of Adrenaline, Borrowed Time.

A little after Artist dropped.

Because dev's want to "shake up the meta" which entails making the only good perks in the game worse and saying they "buffed" perks when the buffs are garbage or even nerfs themselves making the list of viable perks smaller with each update...

Build variety has always been terrible. It's just before MMR matchmaking was often unbalanced so you could get away with memey.
MMR has made it much harder to get away with meme builds and devs often don't make meaningful changes to meta that you just see the same things far more often.
Also new perks are often too weak for their conditions to activate or just don't do enough that they never have a chance to see much use.

Spine chill and iron will got starched. Medkits getting nerfed killed healing builds or healing in general with the exception of altruistic healing. I mean yeah I understand the nerfs and why it happened. But still.

Iron will and spine chill got starched. Healing builds in general got nuked with the exception of Altruistic healing. Is it even worth running Item builds like Ace in the hole and Plunderer's instinct when items in general is just ass now?

Honestly lost count how many times I looked my perk pages and thought "What do I use". All that's left for the remaining slot is just flat out annoying killers with Blast mine and flash grenades I guess.

Made For This, Windows of Opportunity, Prove Thyself, Bond or random fourth perk of personal choice.
Play with friends and you will stomp 80% of Killers.

Perk variety has always been boring, so idk what ur talking about

BHVR is too afraid to buff the perks, so we have useless ######### such as Poised, Corrective Action, Red Herring, etc
The only actual good buffs from the past few patches were Hope, Deja Vu and maybe Buckle Up now

I wanna say its a matter of the balance changes being not so often. A lot of perks tend to get either killed off or overtuned, while many others just get left to gather dust. Even disregarding that, people tend to want to stick to a build that "wins" like the gen-kick meta from before for instance. There's hardly many people going for fun/meme builds, and would rather do what they can to get their kills/survive even if it results in them player sweaty. Many players from either side don't want to steer from the meta out of fear of encountering that toxic SWF/Killer who will BM them for bringing a non-optimal build.

I really don't need Info perks since I'm just fine figuring out where everything is at on my own lol. That's why my choices are limited.
With that said I do use Kindred and Open hand randomly. I do enjoy seeing killers aura further for my own satisfaction but that's about it.

There was the Unhook yourself build that I was doing with a bunch of friends before I left. It required luck offerings and using perks like Slippery meat and Up the ante if I recall. It surprisingly was doable and we had everyone unhooked theirselves plenty of times and it was funny af.
Not sure if this game changed anything if that build is still effective or not.

That's still doable.

Or they go the Buckle Up route and turn one of the worst perks in the game into one of the strongest, most uncounterable (when paired with FtP) LOL

Ah, the "Crutch It vs M1" build.
