Is Alien's power unique enough?
He has cool tunnels I will give you that, but in terms of gameplay it's almost like any other map teleport ability.
His chase power is just Nemesis M2 but slightly changed, bit less range when tier 3 Nemi but don't need infect, but you need to be in your power mode, unlike Nemesis, can't get removed from the chase power.

I think there's always going to be some similarities and overlap between killers. I think there are limitations on what they can really achieve in the game power-wise.

That's true but I still think there could be some unique abilities or twists of allready existing abilites. Xeno power feels like Demo and Nemi had baby. Turrets are cool but only Survivors get to play with them, not the Killer.

While Alien does have a teleport ability, what’s different is that it’s not fixed until you are literally standing at the bottom of the vent. You can alter your course accordingly if you see footsteps in the tunnels.
I also like the Killer Instinct because teleport abilities can be disorientating at times (Sadako TP from tv) and KI helps with Survivor tracking. No complaints on the teleport QOL.

With the number of killers we have in the game at this point, there are bound to be some similarities between certain ones.
While Xenomorph's power overall is fairly simple, I don't feel like there's anything wrong with that. Plenty of older killers in the game's lifespan have powers that are even simpler than Xenomorph's and players still enjoy those characters.

I care more about capturing the spirit of the character. The Xenomorph should feel like a Xenomorph, and if that means being similar to another killer, I don't mind. Gotta have that tail attack, it's iconic.

Counter-Question: Is there a possibillity to get unique powers anymore? Its more a "family"-thing. Every new killer is a mixture of other killers, because there is nothing "new" left. Its still Windows and Pallets and Generators and Exit-Gates (ignored the sidequest-things). New Game-Mechanics are needed at this point to get something "fresh" and "unique"... at least in my opinion.

Not at all. It's just Demo and Nemesis mashed together under the name of a different license.

I'm perfectly happy with xeno, and it was a good moment to go with some tried and true mechanics with a bit of a twist. They stepped out of the box with Singularity and SM and it didn't work out all that well so it's actually nice to have a bit of a return to basics, so to speak.

His power is fine. Singularity's power is fine.
But both are gonna get forgotten and never played because the survivors have totalcl control over them. Survivors being given toys that totally abolish any power the killer has is too much. It's not fun.
You will rarely see Alien just like you rarely see Meatball. A license can only carry you so far. See Freddy for example.
Alien will not played after the initial hype wears off. Because he's going to be Singularity part 2.

I dont think it is a matter of being unique.
I think it is a matter of being fun to play and/or having a decent level of strength.

The flamethrowers didn't feel that powerful when I was playing him. Nowhere near as strong as Meatball's EMPs

Go watch JRM's recent video and your opinion might change.
Also Otz was calling Meatball strong at first too. People initially were positive on Meatball.
Time will tell. I could be wrong. But it looks bad imo for Alien. Especially when survivors get smarter with turret placement.

I would have been way happier if they'd gone some sort of Leatherface/Hilbilly/Wesker direct attack route but I guess at least we'll have one more killer that doesn't eat dirt on the farm maps so that's nice.

I would say there's a stark difference in between merely being slowed down and going on a cooldown; and putting in effort, losing distance, and seeing both investments go up in smoke because there was a printer nearby.
Like, Singularity can be strong. Deceptively oppressive, even. But he's arguably more map dependent than any other killer thus far. And, if he loses pressure for even the slightest moment, he may as well completely reset.
Xeno, on the other hand, never loses its ability to tunnel, for one. It can always switch to regular M1 mode, 'cause it'll be on your ass anyway when the flamethrower is relevant. Not to mention that Xeno can just smack 'em.
Singularity has way more potential than Xeno, I think. But Single Larry rarely fulfills that potential, whereas Xeno stays fairly consistent. It's only a cooldown, after all.

Still a worrying trend.
Two killers back to back have given survivors total control of their power.
And I'm still pretty sure Alien is gonna be weak on d survivors learn the best uses of the turrets

Obviously some of the license holders are told up front: "Look, we have a very limited game engine and our code breaks every time we update.. If that works for you then lets get started." to which the license holders respond with: "Meh whatever, its a video game... More money right?"

They could have added the acid spray or made the basement a bit more alien like with the eggs or noises from the queen or something.
Pretty much every killer will be a rehash of others, I can only think of a couple of unique powers we haven't seen yet but not much else.

Meatball is a funky spot. When people aren't good at EMPing he's probably better than Nurse. When people are good at EMPing he's about as good as Trapper.
But I'm not going to base my opinion off of a video of a Youtuber who's picked and chosen clips for a specific purpose of the video when I could instead base it on my own experience playing the game.

The acid spray is one of its Iridescent add-ons.

That Xeno in that video looked like a bad killer player in general, indecisive and literally just ran into flamethrowers for some reason without destroying them.
The flamethrowers are a mild annoyance at worst, you can destroy them easily and ignore them and get a hit as well if you so choose. The fact that you get your power so quickly in your tunnels means being broken out of your power doesn't really matter that much.
They're less EMPs and more like Nemmy Vaccines where yes they make you waste time getting your power back but overall if you're a good killer they won't stop you from using your power.

Yeah, I was watching Umbra play Xeno live during the PTB and she was knocking down the flamethrowers like they were simply bothersome flies. Looked like they were barely an inconvenience. I'm reserving judgement until I get to play Xeno myself but I'm not concerned about them. Watching streamers actually play it live, they seemed to adapt to them pretty quick and most were saying they weren't an issue.

What I'm more worried about is that the turrets are also motion trackers that alert survivors when the Xenomorph is nearby, meaning that they will make stealth on the Xenomorph a lot harder. Undetectable might just be worthless on him.
