Basement Trapper needs to be looked at.
A killer that can make completely impossible to escape from basement while making it considerably hard to even get in to save someone shouldnt be a thing.
Yeah Bubba exists, but he at least needs to be there most of the time.
Trapper can trap the entire thing which not only heavily delays rescues, but its essentially an early warning, its also not uncommon for him to reset whatever exit is left, trapping whoever is still inside and making impossible for both to escape.
And theres also Bloody Coil that essentially guarantees the rescuer goes down.

It is frustrating when you come across it but thankfully, for me anyway, I rarely come across basement Trappers. Most Trappers probably find this tactic boring and unrewarding and it is just the odd player that has to play this way to get kills.
Hopefully the anti-camping feature they are planning on introducing will help in these situations.

Yeah, it's the main reason his kill-rate is so inflated. Just a bunch of cheap kills in basement. But then again, how else are you meant to even play him in higher MMR?
0 -
It wont... traps make impossible to escape from, since not even Endurance saves you
0 -
This is the only play-style that makes Trapper even semi-viable, at least at higher MMR. Blame BHVR for indirectly nerfing him with map sizes and the terrible new grass on it, not the players for doing the one thing that actually works.

Complaining about trapper and his nearly only reliable play style? Lmao
Any decent player knows to stay away from basement when playing against trapper. If you end up losing to a basement trapper, it’s due to your own mistakes / your teammates mistakes.
Saying basement trapper needs to be looked at is absolutely BEYOND me.

Or maybe fix the guy so one of the most obnoxious playstyles isnt his only viable one? like Condemn Slug was for Sadako?
0 -
Trapper doesn’t need fixing. It’s important to leave some killers extremely simple for the sake of new players. His simplicity makes him weak as you face tougher survivors. He’s fine the way he is.

Wraith already exists for that, and other killers are way easier than Trapper, like Legion
1 -
Basement trapper requires coordination, because if a survivor starts to disarm a trap, other survivors can run through it.
1 -
My point still stands. Don’t know what point you’re trying to make? Wraith and trapper are both simple killers. Legion is a paid killer, irrelevant.

lockdown trapper is most defining aspect of trapper. you can still escape in the basement. you can hold down a trap for a teammate, exit the basement while two teammates run through trap. i think it is more of gimmick than anything. a more reliable proxy basement camper is mint rag hag with make your choice. trapper is more about pallet lock-down and window lock-down. more of 3 gen type killer akin to skull merchant. all 3 killer are designed campers... but i guess they all excel at different styles of camping.

just don't go down near basement against trapper? it's basically your one lose condition against him
0 -
Can do nothing about my teammates doing it...
0 -
yeah, not much you can do in that scenario except bang gens and hope your teammate learns from their mistake, fair enough

i'm late to warn you about players who will come here and tell you it's one of what, two ways to make it viable lol and while i kinda agree i don't think it's ok for someone to load into a game only to sit in the basement until there death, imo 10 sec basekit endurance should allow you to walk past traps while other perks like otr have no effect past those 10 secs

Literally any Killer in the game can just stand on the stairs to block the way. Also any Killer in the game can run Territorial Imperative to get an early warning. Huntress can sit at the bottom of the stairs with an Iridescent Head. Deathslinger can sit with Iridescent Coin and Insidious. Clown can do the same with Redhead's Pinky Finger. Knight can do the same with Knight's Contract. Twins can block the stairs with Victor running Iridescent Pendant. Hag, Nurse, Dredge, and Demogorgon can wait at a distance with Make Your Choice and teleport to the basement entrance before the rescuer can get out. And you chose the weakest Killer in the game to complain about.

I think it's fair to complain about weak characters if they are obnoxious. I doubt anyone is suggesting making the Trapper weaker overall.

When Xeno uses the tail whip, it curls upward and moves back slightly and makes a sound. I went through frame-by-frame and from hitting the button to the Survivor getting injured took around 0.7 seconds. For Nemesis, it takes 0.8 seconds including the charge time and 0.4 seconds excluding it. Nemesis can start his attack while hidden behind a wall which can give less than 0.4 seconds to react. For Xeno to try and do the same thing requires impeccable timing, and also gives the Survivor a warning because when in Crawler mode your body turns around when strafing and your head comes around the corner before your viewpoint does.

Yeah, basement Trapper does suck. It makes me want to DC, because my teammates will usually go for the poor Survivor in the basement and then get themselves caught in the process, and there's no way I'll be able to get five gens done on my own before they all inevitably die, not to mention completing a gen will give away my location. Therefore it's pointless to even try to do anything at all. And I'm hardly ever lucky enough to get hatch. But I don't want to DC because the penalty sucks, and I don't even want to leave a bot in my place.

Yes, completely gut this hard-to-counter playstyle.
Let The Trapper's sacrifice/escape ratio plummet.
THEN the devs will finally have no choice but to re-work or overhaul his entire kit to make him viable.
0 -
Oh, and all the survivors who happily ran to their certain death will you chew you out in post-chat for not joining them on the basement hooks.
0 -
Yep. But in this instance I'm fine with that. I just ask them why they thought going downstairs and getting caught in the traps was a good idea.
2 -
It's like you're saying that a the skull merchant and her obnoxious strategy is the only thing that makes her viable and should be kept that way.
1 -
Not saying it should be kept, but they're obviously in no hurry to buff him so...
