Is the adept bugged or survivors bleeding out subtracts from merciless?
I just had an Adept Xenomorph attempt where I did indeed kill four people. However, at one point I did slug because otherwise, the survivors would escape. By doing this, a Claudette crawled to the corner and I couldn't find her, so she eventually bled out.
At the end game screen, I did not see the merciless killer message. In fact, I did not see any "whatever killer" kind of message. Above all that, I did not get the adept. This brings 3 possibilities to my head.
- Having a survivor bleed out removes the merciless killer win
- The adept is bugged
- BHVR changed the adept condition to be double pip again (I am not sure about this, I haven't played the game in a while)
Therefore, I would like to know which of these three option went wrong so that I did not get the adept.

What were your medals at the end of the game to get merciless it usually takes 3 iris out of 4
Also unless they changed it today it's still the same

I am pretty sure they changed the merciless condition, not too long ago, to be based on the number of kills, instead of it being based on the emblem system.

Doesn't feel changed to me as every time i get my 3 required eri medals it's usually a merciless
Just make sure you chase a decent amount of time not in close proximity of downed/hooked survivors and try to get all your kills with at 2 or more Gens left
Edit to include picture of the medals I had when I got adept xeno

I just want to know what are the current requirements for merciless, as it does change the strategy that I should use. I have every killer adept, with the exception of Xenomorph, and I got almost all of them before they supposedly changed the requirements for merciless, and I do tell you, on some killer, it does require some amount of farming and non efficient play in order to get double pips. So it is important to know what I should do first things first.

Merciless Victory is based off of kills now. They changed it back in January I believe.
As for bleeding out, unfortunately it does not count towards the Adept/Merciless.
From what I understand, kills for Merciless Victory are treated the same way as the Devout Emblem, so bleed outs don't count as a kill and only Sacrifices, Moris and special killer powers like Pig and Sadako count as a kill.

Merciless is no longer tied to the medal system as of several patches ago. It's given for four survivor kills. Although unlikely, you can get Merciless with Bronze medals, and you can double pip without getting Merciless (up to a point).

I had a game where the bot bleed out and didn't get Adept Xenomorph. The next game I had sacrificed all survivors and got it.
It's certainly possible that survivors who bleed out don't get counted as kills.

If they changed it to where bleeding someone out doesn't give an achievement, it might be the smartest change they've ever made.

Yes, it is very smart to make survivors who already lost the game and just want to be petty feel rewarded to sabotage the killer.

Because there is no way to avoid a bleed out??? Don't slug, down, then hook. It really is that simple.

1. The adept challenge incentives you to slug, since it is a required 4 kill. If you don't, then you're put into a coin flip, which is not efficient for the purpose of this challenge.
2. "Simply not slugging" does not contemplate end game situations where exit gates are already opened, which was what happened in my case. In that case, I was required to slug because otherwise the survivors would get distance and escape.
3. If there is a hook dead zone, it is beyond the killer whether or not the survivors bleeds out, since survivors can just keep going to that spot which makes you unable to hook them.
4. If BHVR wanted to just punish killers who let survivors bleed out on purpose, then they would have also give the Deerstalker effect at the end of the game, in case some survivors goes to a corner to be petty.

Additional info: I have seen some people also saying that they are not gaining end game massages recently, so I don't know if that is a bug that effects the adept, or it is an intended feature.

Adept is meant to be a challenge, if it was easy it wouldn't be an achievement.
It means you have to probably lose a few to figure out the best plan to be able to get all 4 people dead on hooks or simply bring a Mori which gives you the achievement but again, you have to get all 4 on hooks to do which goes against the "slug" mentality.

Survivors escaping due to a lucky hatch has nothing to do with a challenge. If the killer is at the point where they slug for the 4K, they've already beaten the challenge.

Having the fourth survivor escape because of hatch isn't skill related, it is luck related.

Evidently not. You didn’t really kill all four; bleedout doesn’t count in the dev’s eyes b/c it isn’t how they intend the game to be played. If you dislike it tag a dev and asked why they changed it. 🤷♀️

Yet, it is how the game is played because of their bad design. If you want to get a 4k, you have an incentive to slug to reduce the game to a lucky 50/50. However, the game doesn't give you a tool to finding a slugged survivors after, so if they want to waste your time and your points as killer, they totally can. This would be somehow fixed by adding the endgame mori, but the devs haven't mentioned it in a long time.

It does give you a tool for finding a slugged survivor, there is actually a perk that you can run to find them called Deerstalker.
When Nic Cage was released every killer was running this to find the plot twist.
As for "waste your time and points as killer" - So, it's totally fine for you to waste the survivor's time for 4 minutes as they bleed out so you can get a 4 k and run around and hunt for the last survivor but if they crawl away because you refused to hook them, they are the bad person??? Nope... this is why the change is perfectly fine. You want to slug and hunt safely without the risk of a hatch, then there should be a consequence.

No, I have gotten my adept for Singularity by bleeding out a survivor so apparently it is intended.
