I remember back in the day when the first playstation came out, and well I remember in order to play a demon, I had to get these demo CD's from a playstation magazine and have a play, sometimes could get quite a few few games now. I very much don't know how now to test a game, I believe it's all on steam or having to watch some streamers to have a look and see if I like a look of a game. But i remember the struggle, I think it's when I played alone in the dark 4 and nearly ######### myself lol.
