Distortion needs a slight nerf

It does not fully delete Lethal. Another survivor next to me is nearly as pinpointing as not having Distortion in the first place. I have to move away from that survivor and hope it's not toward the killer in order to have a chance of not getting caught...which counters the idea of survivors working together, btw.

Regarding BBQ, don't you mean 24m? That's the standard killer's terror radius.

MOST generators are well within 8 meters of lockers, with the exception of a few hanging out in a cornfield...

Close to half? Closer to 1/3, actually, though I have no idea how you came to the time of 5.45 seconds in the first place. Do you have a link that could confirm this? And you're assuming the killer doesn't see the survivor from a distance, which is quite a possibility. You're also assuming there's only one survivor on the gen in question, or that they BOTH/ALL have distortion. And just how likely is a killer NOT going to check the nearby lockers? There's two tokens lost for (taking into account the extra time to check a locker) 2/3 regen. Sorry, but your worst-case scenario isn't even close to reality. There's no guarantee that the killer won't walk around the tree/outcropping/whatever and see the survivor despite Distortion.

Again, distortion does delete lethal, just because the killer happened to check your area and found you, doesn't mean it didn't delete lethal's effect.

Regarding BBQ , you're wrong on 2 layers... BBQ is default 40m radius , Standard killer TR is 32m for 115% and 24m for 110%.

Basic math tells you that it takes you 5.45 seconds to run 24m if you move at 4.4 meters per second (32m/4.6ms = 6.95). The closer to half portion comes from basic game knowledge and knowing that if a killer has to make turns and bends around obstacles and tiles, then by logic alone its going to give the distortion survivor more time in the TR radius in order to regen tokens.

Claiming distortion "doesn't work" because your teammate didn't bring it too is an invalid argument, if it had a token it still prevented the killer from knowing where YOU are. Arguments based on "well the killer used his eyeballs and saw me hiding" are also not a valid arguments.

Again, this post is just asking for distortion to either only regen tokens while in a chase, OR NOT regen while in a chase. Tokens regening just for the killer existing on the map is inherentely too much free value.

Almost every Killer will bring one or two aura-reading perk/add-on (if available) and some of them absolutely destroy Distortion (Gearhead just makes Distortion irrelevant after 30 seconds even if the Killer is cross-map, long-range aura-reading perks like Darkness Revealed remove token without making them recharge).

Since DH got murdered, Distortion is the only semi-reliable way to survive longer against Nurses: not get spotted in the first place.

Distortion exists to at least make the possibility of hiding a valid strategy, not everybody is a master looper. A full aura-reading build (or Gearhead alone) will chew through tokens faster than they can recover anyway so it's only a matter of time until you can't hide.

The game was originally meant as a "hide and seek" type of game and this perk make the playstyle semi-viable.

Distortion doesn't make you a better looper.

Distortion doesn't make gens, healing or yourself go faster.

Distortion doesn't erase mistakes or give Endurance.

Distortion doesn't block screams or sound.

If the Killer didn't bring any aura-reading perks (or just brought Lethal Pursuer, which happens fairly often actually) then it's basically the same as bringing Lightborn against a squad with 4 toolboxes: a wasted slot and 25% of your build useless.

Very often I would lose one Distortion tokens to Lethal, then the others by BBQ and/or Darkness Revealed and then I would be vulnerable until the Killer got close with no reliable way to hide.

Even as Killer, I would rather go against Survivors that hide than Survivors that can nearly outrun me while holding W and do every gens in record time or are able to instantly get up with Endurance after they get downed.

TLDR; Distortion is fine in my opinion and is only there to prevent hiding being impossible, not to mention it's a wasted slot if only Lethal or no aura-reading perks are brought AND won't negate a full aura-reading build or Gearhead alone.

Distortion is only partially effective against lethal if the killer still knows where to look for survivors next to you. You're found by proxy.

If you're between 40m from the killer and 24/32m, you're not in the killer's TR and therefore not regenerating your Distortion tokens. Thank you for proving my point.

I'm saying that Distortion's effect is lessened if others near you don't have it when a killer uses an aura reader. The killer is still looking for survivors in your area. I can't tell you the number of times I've been healing another survivor only to have my Distortion trigger due to Nurse's Calling. Great....I've lost a charge and the killer knows somebody is healing this other survivor, that there are two survivors in this exact spot where he sees only one.

The point is that Distortion isn't nearly as effective as you seem to think it is, as long as the killer is paying attention.

I had some additional thoughts since my first reply, I think we could make distortion instead only lose a token when your aura would be read but no longer hide your aura or your scratch marks (seriously compound 21 is actually a downside now thanks to the prevalence of this perk). We can then replace the hide aura effect with a new one and even give more tokens. This way your aura perks are not useless but equally distortion keeps its very nifty effect of telling you what aura reading the killer has.

I don't agree. There are so many aura reading perks for killers that you can easily take all 3 tokens in the first minute or 2 of the game. Been there, done that, so I know what I'm saying is like this.

Also, there are killers such as Legion, Ghost Face that will read survivors even with Distortion.

Distortion is perfectly fine as is. I’m saying this as a killer who loves aura perks. There are plenty of survivor builds that completely counter killer builds and vice versa. It isn’t that big of a deal having to track survivors the old fashioned way.

if it really bothers you just run Xeno’s new locker perk. Completely counters Distortion.

Also remember that if the survivor going against a killer without Aura reading they’re basically playing with only 3 perks. Distortion is completely fine and the buff was much needed imo

    I agree with this.

If Distortion is faced with a killer who needs to chase time, there is a high chance that Distortion can be kept enabled.

Not every killer is as powerful as a nurse.

Thats inherently not true, if distortion doesn't proc you know what perks the killer isn't running.

if you know 2-3 perks, know theres no totems in play, distortion never proc'd so theres no auras in play and can't figure out the last ones, you can safely assume its an endgame build and should probably do totems to avoid NOED / 99 the gates instead of popping them incase of blood warden.

I think that's just the risk you take. I've brought Distortion many times in the past and the killer has had no aura perks so it's been a wasted slot/perk. If you run aura perks, you'll have plenty of games I'm sure where no one has Distortion but the odd game where they do is just part of the risk.

"It isn’t that big of a deal having to track survivors the old fashioned way"

Good point. Aura perks are handy but people shouldn't crutch on them.

Distortion is always on every single one of my builds. It's very strong. Honestly, I NEVER run out of tokens unless the killer has a build that bombard aura reading. I will admit it's super easy to get tokens back. Right now, it's pretty much guaranteed safety from aura reads which is a ice feeling, but I could see how easy you get the tokens back being nerfed.
