Does slugging count as holding game hostage?

I just played a match where i slugged because there were 2 survivors left and i saw Nea after downing Yoichi. After i hooked Nea, i instantly hooked Yoichi and he said that he was going to report me for game hostage, slugging counts as that? He said in postgame chat that his reports banned a lot of people and i said slugging is game hostage? So you should report nearly every Twins main and he said nope XDDDD i need to know the truth about this

you would be surprised by how many people just believe in the things they say. they could be trolling, but they could also be 100% serious.

but rest assured, sluggin is not bannable.

it is written in the rules, you can check them here https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/139-game-rules

    important part

    Discarded report reasons

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT CONSIDERED BANNABLE OFFENSES - PLEASE DO NOT REPORT:

    Camping

    Slugging

    Tunneling

    Streamsniping

    Teabagging

    Bodyblocking

    Looping

I heard if you send enough of these you essentially get put into a "auto ignore" list. but I cannot confirm this

Slugging in and of itself is not bannable. If it overlaps with another reason, such as intentionally bleeding them out to torture them (but not the others), then that could fall under 'Intentionally targeting to ruin gameplay experience'.

Specific section I'm talking about here (excluding the non-relevant bullet points from the major section of Griefing)

    GRIEFING: INTENTIONAL GAMEPLAY ABUSE

    • Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience

The fact that they had to put looping on that list... 🤣

I think the game rules haven't been updated since like 2017, when the game was more 'hide-and-seek simulator', and Looping was an emergent gameplay behavior. Also the last time I checked it in-depth they had 'gen-tapping' as another non-ban worthy action, which was only done to counter the original version of Ruin, so I guess it has been updated at least somewhat recently.

I played a fun match against a strong Blight tonight. We were having a good time and after a bit I went down. He hooked me and left. My teammates let me die and didn't even attempt a rescue. He then slugged everyone to death. It was the first time that slugging has ever touched my heart.

I had a Wesker hold my game hostage by carrying me into a corner/deadzone and downing me over and over and carrying me back into the corner. I was infected and slowed so it was impossible to escape even though I tried. This lasted for around 40 minutes. I reported anyway.

So then my question isn't deliberately tunneling and focusing one person, 'Intentionally targeting to ruin gameplay experience'. One survivor gets taken out of the game most of the time with under 10k, because the killer intentionally decided to take them out of the game, This ruined the gameplay for that survivor, and in addition it ruins the other survivors game play experience, because instead of being a 1 vs 4 as intended a good or even lower skilled killer can make that match a 1 v 3 in less than 5 minutes. Especially if they are running the right perks, but even perks like lethal or Floods of Rages aren't even needed to do that.

In addition "slugging for the 4k" doesn't that also ruin the gameplay experience for the survivors. It removes the hope of getting hatch because the odds of the hatch spawning next to you in most cases is next to 0, and even if it happens to be close the speed at which you move while downed makes it neigh impossible to get to it. To be clear I am not suggesting to change crawling speeds, but I am suggesting adding the base kit unbreakable that was teased many patches ago. I realize the final mori that was coupled with it probably was a dud. I know I wasn't a fan of it, but the unbreakable was worth it. In addition it would alleviate the aforementioned problem of people slugging to grief people and ruin gameplay for the survivors.

The problem is the gen-rush meta. Slugging and tunneling comes in a way to “prevent genrushing”, i personally dont like to do them, but i understand the killers that use both to avoid genrush. However, in this meta, basekit unbreakable would be awful, making killers to prefer tunneling than slugging. Also, don’t you think that Boil Over and Saboteur would be a problem with that? I think that’s the main reason why that ptb changes didnt go live

Not exactly. Last time I checked, that rule only applied if done repeatedly, because there's nothing wrong with tunneling on the part of the killer.

If that rule is still the same as it was last time I saw it brought up, it means intentionally targeting one person, this 1 person specifically, over the course of multiple games. So if a killer and a survivor got matched together back to back and the killer tunneled them out at five gens both games that would be an example

Another reason camping and slugging are exempt from this rule is because there is no guarantee the killer was doing it to ruin the gameplay experience unless they explicitly say it. Until further notice, they're doing it to make their match easier and set up a win. The survivors not having fun is just a by product of tunneling and slugging.

Plus, if we were going to say tunneling and camping go against this rule because it makes the game unfun for survivors, there is a LIST of things that both sides hate that would have to be marked as bannable behavior as well

Tl;Dr The devs have reasons that tunneling and slugging are not bannable under that rule and that rule has very specific requirements

i think BHVR considers intentionally slugging for extended periods of time without attempting to advance other objectives (such as standing on top of the last survivor after they've crawled to a hook, or playing for 4 bleed outs) to be holding the game hostage, but even then they're unlikely to take action around it. chasing one survivor after seeing another is fine.

even i, who is one of god's strongest anti-slugging warriors, will admit that slugging one survivor to chase another survivor that you have seen, is a completely normal and acceptable thing to do

Reminds me of a video I saw where a guy would report everyone who beat him for stupid stuff like "abusing looping mechanics".

I am not saying gen rushing doesn't happen, but in the majority of solo lobbies i have been in and I have played at different times of the day gen rushing hadn't been a thing. I am referring to times when we are at 5 gens and I was already killed dead, and before someone misconstrues a skill level I have 1500 hours in the game and run distortion lucky break and overcome to keep myself relatively hidden. There are many matches where i have just been flat out tunneled they find me, and boomerang back to the hook ignoring the other survivor and going straight for me. In situations I have managed to get back away, they have found me and immediately went for me.

Survivors have been constantly getting nerfs between med kits, flashlights, and many various perks over the last year. We only recently got some perks with Cage that do have some use, but are mostly for Memes. I feel survivors are actually taking a beating. This is coming from a player that plays Killer and Survivor. I find sometimes I have to slow myself down so I don't kill the survivors at 4 or 5 gens. We killers are powerful enough. There are many perks that killers can run to slow down the "gen rush" discordance and thana are two big options.

Slugging for the 4k is lame call a spade a spade honestly. Especially with the way you have to get a 4k to get their "achievement" its just teaching killers that behavior is appropirate.

Yes, that’s the main reason i dont do that “strategies” since i think killers are powerful enough, and playing by that way, i wouldn’t improve as that killer. Also i enjoy chases most than anything, so in a lot of matches i really dont care if the survs are rushing or not; it will happen anyways. But i think that the reason why tunneling and slugging are so popular it’s because both work, make your match easier without too much effort or needing to improve as a killer in general, or as the killer that you are playing.

I appreciate that you do not do those strategies, but 75 to 80% of the killers I face do the aforementioned strategies I have mentioned. It's very stale for me honestly I feel like I am going to get targeted first or if we are successful we get slugged and punished for it. Either way the killer gets their 4k. I don't stay for the full match cause lets be honest you get tunneled out first your not hanging around. I don't have time for salt in the chat. They choose to play that way its whatever, but I wished there was something to discourage that kind of play.
