PSA: Are You Allergic to Tapes? No? Then Pick One Up!
Every match I play against Sadako, she's doing her usual thing. She's not committing to chasing anyone, just spamming teleport. By the time one gen is complete, everyone except me is already half comdemned. This happens in almost every match I play against her.
Why does nobody understand the counterplay yet? I keep having to drag survivors to TV's to show them how to reduce their condemned stacks.

I dont get the problem either. Current or past version, i have never reached the condemned status. The counter is just so simple and easy its suprising that any gets a kill that way.

Sadako main here
The ones that die to condemned are (nearly) always the ones who have 4-6 stacks on them, I swear. They're too hyperfocused on gens and dumping their toolboxes than to prevent the condemned. And heck, I don't even spam it and I actually do commit to chases and spread injuries over condemned.

finding a TV that isn't turned off by her constant teleport spam can be quite difficult, especially on larger maps like mothers dwelling or maps with complex layouts like RPD
7 -
Just start counting from 30 after game start and then be next to one when the game starts, you can still get some gen progress or whatever, she can only get 1 guy IF she guessed correctly and you turn off TVs meaning Sadako can't teleport next to you. Mid-late game just grab them of a gen that was done cause Sadakos don't like teleporting to TVs far away from survivors. Its really not that hard.

Typically when I notice survivors not picking up tapes it's 1 of 2 things.
- All the survivors are fighting over the same TV and by the time another tape is available Sadako is now in that area
- Survivors don't understand what the rework did and think holding a tape is bad
5 -
Sadako's counterplay is quite the opposite compared before her change.
Just show survs active TV auras all the time might help.

I normally let my condemned get about half way then get a tape but I've had a a couple times where I've been injured and she's just teleported everywhere I've gone and couldn't escape her 😅 just unlucky.

Dude. THIS. Every time I go for a tape she just happens to find me, and then spam teleport until I’m condemned. She can be soo frustrating to play against.
3 -
Most survivors refuse to do anything that isn't directly repairing a gen or directly recovering health states. Interacting with the killer in any way is a hassle.

I mean I was surprised after the rework how dangerous her teleportation could be. But one can easily adjust and start doing what is necessary. Sometimes, however, genrush prevails.

More often is the case where the soloq teammates decide to never grab a tape in the first place. I had a tape and I pointed out 3 TVs, 2 of which were currently active, and the teammate duoing the gen refused to grab the tape.
That particular playstyle is a nightmare to go against. It is similar to being turbo tunneled, never being allowed to play the game. You basically need perks to counter that from the onset, or soloq Survs to be on point pumping gens. Sadly neither pre-req are likely. There is a build (that I will not detail) that Sadako can use that makes it nearly as bad, if not worse, than the dedicated facecamping Bubba build. Arguably it is more effective, because people know the counter to Bubba, but not Condemn Sadako when she is specifically targeting 1 person. I respect the Sadako in soloq I ran into that came up with the strat, but it is miserable to go against.

I don't personally like having to grab tapes unless I absolutely need to since it completely prevents you from using your items. She gets a sort of inverted version of Franklin's when you play againstgher properly which feels very silly to me.

Pray that you go up against Willie or whoever is using the solo Condemn strategy then.

Yeah, that bit is kind of annoying. Although having a tape is good for when you hook rescue. As you can stop her teleporting back to the hook for the tunnel.

In general, I agree. Everyone should grab a tape at the first opportunity and hold it.
However, a lot of Sadakos are running that build where you have to put your tape in a specific TV and then they jump you when you go to that TV, and that complicates things.
1 -
The TV that I want to pick up a tape, Sadako teleports to it. What should I do?
2 -
Thats not the best way to play againts her, letting condemn go beyond half is a big risk specially if she applying too much pressure. The best way is as soon as you spawn in the map go for a tape and hold it. You don't get any condemn at all while holding, that her only counterplay but there is an OP addon (Mother's Comb) that should get changed that shows sadako the aura of tv that has been turned off, so you better watch out after turning off a tv.
The broken combo: Mother's Comb and Iridescent Videotape that force you to go to the most far away tv are really problematic, with the first one you can watch out after turning off a tv but with the other one you can't do anything other than cross the entire map and expect the tv its not turned off.. i know this one is ultra rare but its just too op. More than her power its her addons the problem..

Honestly, I'd love to know too. I'm yet to be Condemn killed against post-7.10 Onryō. Cannot say the same for my solo queue teammates...

When I go against Sadakos I find Iri Tape to be less of a problem, since my usual gameplan is to split from my team anyway and once done without getting caught, I simply grab another tape nearby to hold and deny 2 TVs near that area.
Mother's Comb, however, is a problem. Even as an avid Sadako player, I think that comb gives more information and pressure than Iri Tape can.

Onryo is just so boring to play now. Survivors not doing proper counter-play makes this even worse and you are practically handed a free win. Very little skill involved compared to before. One of the worst reworks BHVR has done imo.

I believe the technical term is 'Eat ****'. Don't quote me on that though. I am not a scientist.

Any killer that requires the survivors to do anything extra, tend to have higher kill rates because many survivors just don't bother. It's why Pinhead, Sadako and Pig are all usually near the top of kill rates, solely because many survivors only know how to eat hot chip and do gens.

To be fair most sadakos run mother comb-iri tape so picking a tape doesn't help much, in big maps you run around whole game and she spam tp every 10 seconds, can't do gens ever... against slugging ones that refuse to hook it's even worse, everyone get less than 15k bp, it couldn't be worse for a rework

When I play Sadako, no one cares about condemned until it's full, then they start looking for tapes.
