Xeno tail worse than M1

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the xenomorph chapter, it's been something that I've wanted for a really long time and I think they've knocked it out of the park both in style and gameplay. But I do have one small issue, The tail: In the nicest way possible, it's garbage. The problem is it's so damn hard to hit and Its so punishing that actually I get better results with just a basic attack, as I'm less likely to miss and dont lose as much distance if I do. I understand that they have to make the tail attack punishing to avoid people just spamming it, but no ones gonna use it if its left as it is now.

Solutions? maybe make it so that it lingers a bit more like nemi's tentacle, as an issue i keep finding is that survivors are running right through my tail and I can only guess that its because I started the attack just slightly out of line. or perhaps if you want to make it easier to hit with, make it so that for the first few frames of the attack, the hitbox is razor thin like deathslingers, but then gets wider later in the attack, as the other issue I find is that it keeps getting caught on things
