Boil Over Breakout Map Exploiting (BHVR, Is It Reportable?)
If Survivors burn a map offering for a map like Mount Ormund then specifically combine Boil Over and Breakout, there are parts of the map that are guaranteed to be impossible to reach a hook as the Killer no matter what you do, even with no sabo/bodyblock or interference of any kind. You simply cannot ever reach a hook, and they will always run directly to this safe zone, forcing you to slug for 4 minutes.
While I think it's pretty clear certain maps were made before Breakout Boil Over was a thing and that this is both unintended and an exploit of map and perk design, but does it rise to the level of being reportable, BHVR?

I don't think it does? Although you can't hook them, you can just slug them, same situation as Flip Flop + Power Struggle

Problem is that isn't countering it. That's just letting survivors have what they want: immunity to a core game mechanic.
Hooks give you: 1. Takes longer to unhook than to pick up a slug 2. Takes 120 seconds instead of 240 seconds to kill someone 3. Gives you area reading on the hooked survivor 4. Agency over where that hooked survivor is rescued at because they can't move 5. A notification when they're saved.
And there is absolutely no way BHVR intended for these perks to be used to this end. I don't see how it isn't just blatantly exploiting perk and map design to cheat the Killer out of a core mechanic for an entire Trial.

not really a reportable offense I would think - just strategizing a perk combo & map
slug them and go after another survivor, idgi no one is forcing you to watch them bleed out. Go apply pressure elsewhere? That's at least 2 survivors who are not on gens and just messing with you, ignore them?

No one is sitting on top of the slug. I'm saying you're forced to just let them go for free after losing a chase a million times instead of them just being dead after losing chase three times.
Think about it: if every survivor ran the build, I chase one, slugged. Darn, I have to let them go for free. Oh well. chase someone else, their friend picks up the slug and the guy I chase runs there, too. Oh well, gotta let them go. They have Boil Breakout, too. But ah, I found the first guy again. And he ran straight back there. Now instead of being on death hook, I just have to slug him for 3 more minutes, all because he equipped two perks and burned a map offering.
Rinse repeat over, and over, and over, and over again, the entire trial.

Why would it be? They aren’t “exploiting” anything. It’s just strong map / perk synergy. Just slug them and call it a a day. You think they enjoy being slugged the whole game? No, they WANT you to keep trying to pick them up.

That's not what an exploit is
8 -
I mean I'm not going to think about it in the extreme, one-off case where a 4 man SWF runs this, hook offerings, and successfully gets their plan off every single time
you can go chase someone else, if you continue to chase the survivor(s) who you know are running this and successfully executing it then that's on you for not abandoning them

First of all, thats not an exploit.
Second of all, slugging them is still countering it as they waste A LOT of time. Those who insist on getting value out of the perks turn the game into a 3v1, and those who get bored since youre not playing their game venture out and dont get value at all.

A survivor tried to be unhookable on a recent match.
On that point she won : she bled out.
5 -
It wastes more of your time by not getting literally any reward for a chase.

So your counter is to just never chase someone running this combo?
1 -
It's annoying but it's not an exploit nor reportable.
Bleed them out rather then picking them up.
3 -
Yes it does, whether a Survivor is on the ground or if they're on the hook that is still a Survivor off gens. Them being off gens and having another Survivor come rescue them means they're off gens as well, meaning you have an easier time to snowball
This is even more true if the guy just sits in his spot and doesn't even attempt to do gens. At that point they're a detriment to their team more than they are to you
2 -
It's an unintended interaction of perks on maps built before these perks existed.

Fam if they didn't have this perk combo, they'd still be off gens. The only difference is they didn't lose a hook state for it, and therefore won't die if it happens two more times. They could lose a dozen more chases, as long as that 4 minute timer doesn't hit 0.
Normally 3 lost chases means you die. With this combo, that's no longer true, and as long as they don't bleed out they'll still be alive. Oh, and Adrenawin and Unbreakabill can both pick them up, which do not work on hooks. Just as an additional insurance policy.

We have been telling BHVR this for years. They won't change it. If it favors survivors, they'll likely give it a pass.
Only counter is to slug them. It usually makes them furious as they stomp their feet and complain because you won't pick them up to allow free wiggle outs. If they want to sit out of the match all game on the floor, that's on them.

chase once, realize what's going on and ignore them after that until I kill the other 2 actually doing gens
once I kill or at least hook these guys, time to go back for the breakout/boil over guys

Even if its bad game design, you can't report players for making use of the things that are in the game. You can urge BHVR to change it, but that's different.
2 -
no. I know this isn't what you want to hear but just as 3 gunning with SM was not reportable (just frowned upon) so is using that perk combo not reportable

Doesn't matter if they didnt lose a hook state for it if they're actively making it easier for you to snowball for the majority of the game. As said before as well if they're just chilling at that spot you can just leave them be and eventually they'll stray far enough away for you to get a hit/down.
As for Adrenaline and Unbreakable, they're both 1 time use. I wouldn't even count Adrenaline in this case since considering the scenario its VERY situational. Unbreakable does synergize very well with Boil Over and is without a doubt a good combo, how ever its no where near OP, nor an exploit
1 -
boil over is already a pretty weak perk, almost never helps you get what you want from it (wiggle out before hook), and you need to sacrifice a lot of other perks and teamwork to even have a chance for this. I understand killers are petty, but to complain over boil over on this forum is the least likely complaint i have expected.
1 -
Thats 100% true but its sadly not an exploit its a "feature"

Well survivor using those kinds of strategies simply lose all right to complain about any kind of slugging since their build is aimed at being unhookable.
They want to lay 4 minutes on the floor, so be it.
2 -
You want to report someone for bringing perks and playing a map? Entitled much?
2 -
I don't think it's reportable... they're using the perks as they were intended. I'm sure they know they'll likely end up bleeding out as a consequence.

You can run iron grasp and agitation just as easily as they can run that combo and it will counter it, or you can play a killer like PH that counters it, also if they're all playing that way you're guaranteed to win even without countering it because if they're doing nothing but staying in places to get boil over value then gens aren't getting done, like others have said its not a reportable offense and doing so could get yourself banned for false reports.

It's not reportable.
Bleed them out.

It would be a waste to run 2 perk slots just to counter that 1 guy 2 perks. There is 3 other survivors.
Just not hook them, keep downing until they bleed out.

ummm… Ormond came out after boil over guy..
Who are you to say it’s unintended interaction? Are you a Dev?
Not everything you don’t like facing is an “exploit”. That’s copium.

Well if it's only one person of course but if it's multiple survivors then the build is necessary, either way the perk combo would stop it all without the annoying slugging that same person and having to leave, either way if this person is seeing it enough they feel it's gamebreaking then they absolutely can change their perk load out to counter it whether anyone feels like it's a waste or not
0 -
The thing I'm trying to say is that... You don't need to waste perk slots if you can play around any particular playstyle.
It's similar to the guy who complaining about flashlights and people saying - "Just run lightborn". You have to learn how to counter it without perks since the game allowing you to do so.
0 -
Yea I get what you're saying, my point is more along the lines of if there's a immediate counter available there's no room to complain at all.

Had a SWF try that against me. Unfortunately for them I was playing Pyramid Head. So, uh, just know to pick Pyramid Head ahead of time I guess?
1 -
When they are on the ground bleeding out and someone has to come pick them up, you ARE getting value. Two survivors not working on gens IS value in and of itself.
