DBD Rift (Battlepass) Needs A Rework
So with majority it games having battlepasses, including DBD's Rifts, usually adding them to produce more profits, comes an issue where they make it without thinking about the full details on how a battlepass should work so they end up being very unsatisfying to complete. DBD is no acception
The Rift is fairly simple. You either play the game and/or do challenges to level up. But the issue is how tedious it is to grind for it. Playing multiple games to upgrade 1 TIER is not fun. Especially since they are 70 levels not including the deep rift. The challenges don't make it better. You get so little Rift fragments to go up a little despite how difficult or game throwing a challenge would be. Some challenges even include perks and characters you might not own so you might have to pay money just to complete 1 archive page. Its just too much. And if youre someone with a full time job such as myself, you can barely invest time in to complete it.
Whats worse is that BVHR know this so they make it to where you can buy Rift Fragments with Auric Cells. Basically spending money just to level up with for people who can barely even get 1 page of the rift done before its over is extemely predatory. I understand BHVR is a business but if I, a average DBD player cant complete a rift, why bother even spending money on it? Thats BHVR losing money.
So, how do you fix the Rift?
1. Good plays = Good results: What do I mean? Well, lets just say while playing a normal match, and youre able to gain alot of boldness points via chases as Survivor or something of the sort, the game rewards you with slightly more Rift fragments as a way of congratulating you for doing some good plays to get such an achievement.
2. Allow players to choose their own Rift Tier: Fortnite gives you the ability to unlock certain skins and stuff throughout the battle pass just as long as you have the right amount of Battle Stars, meaning if you dont want a certain skin or such, youre not forced to waste Battle Stars on other skins before it to get it. It should be the same for DBD. Sometimes, I dont always want the charms but theyre usually before the skin I want so its just an extra grind for no reason that couldve been saved if I had a chance to choose what I want to spend my Rift Fragment points on.
3. The more challenging the challenge, the more Rift Fragments you get: The Rift Archivr challenges usually have challenges that are hard to complete in 1 go, resulting in lost time you couldve used in other challenges to gain more rift fragments. And youre usually forced to do that challenge to progress to the other ones. If those hard challenges reward players with more rift fragments than the usual 10, it would make players more incentivized to complete it because theyre a worthy reward to do so.
The Rift is an interestung concept, but for average players, its a nightmare. So hopefully these ideas can help BVHR make the Rift less daunting allowing players to complete it and buy more of them.

I like the idea especially number 2 as I used to play Fortnite. 100 levels would also be better to be honest.

From September 15th to September 26th (11 days), I managed to progress 48 tiers, while working at least half of those days, preparing to return to Uni, and playing other games. I'd argue that it realistically isn't that grindy (anymore), especially since they increased the Fragments gained via challenges, completing Tome levels, and decreased XP needed per Fragment from 800 to 500.
I wouldn't complain if they made it even easier, but they have to have some challenge there, or else people will easily reach Tier 85 and stop playing until the next major content drop. Plus, I'd argue there's certainly better things to prioritise resources into right now, such as the long-awaited reworks to Twins, Myers, and Freddy; map rebalancing; perk changes; and serious add-on changes. Every change has an opportunity cost, where the resources to make that change could've been better spent elsewhere, and I'd much rather they focus on making those changes instead.

Agreed.
DBD has one of the easiest battle passes to complete in the business.
I don't play a whole lot these days, but I've completed every battle pass to date and only paid once.
There's ALWAYS multiple 2x xp/shard events throughout the life span of each pass and the first 2/3 levels of each tome are easy enough to complete without any crazy grinding or issues in most cases.
I play A LOT of games....an embarrassing amount, tbh, but DBD 100% does its pass in a pretty chill way.

I don't feel like I play all that much these days, 3-4 days a week at maybe 2-5 games per day. So what, 10-15 games per week.
I've never failed to complete a rift while actively playing like this.
You get a ridiculous amount of time to complete it, 3-4 months, and that usually encompasses an event tome as well these days.
I really don't understand who's paying for rift levels unless they're just not playing for months on end.

How often do you play? I had never problems completing the rift.

This... I work full time and I completed mine ages ago... with like a month to spare.
The battlepass tends to be pretty worth it, as the sheer volume of cosmetics, that have no advantage gameplay wise for players who don't take the premium option, that you get for a rather small investment which refunds itself via the battlepass itself...
All that makes it a pretty good deal to my mind.... One of the better battlepasses in the business tbh.

Why is there even a batlle pass in a paid game with paid characters and perks that you can either spend real money on or grind for hundreds of hours to earn them is my question

The only thing I do not like is that you can't do multiple challenges at once, which would result in much more matches being less stressful.
To make up for this the challenges would need to be longer.

I kinda like the selecting challenges aspect for the most part... some of them require getting pretty clever with your character choices/builds which is a cool thing.
E.g. Hysteria helps a lot for Combo King, despite being an otherwise meh perk.
Though I suppose you could still have the "single match" challenges for that, and the permanent progress ones just be passively longer...
Maybe a sort of hybrid where you select a target challenge and all challenges around it are also progressable at the same time? With good placement could be fun.

Considering a single full premium outfit costs the same as tbe battlepass, and the battlepass refunds itself, I'd say the battlepass is a pretty good way of getting a large number of cosmetics on a budget.
I liked the Artist cosmetic from the last battlepass quite a lot.
