Fixing the frustrations of pig for both sides

The pig can be a frustrating character to play and face against at times. Whether it's because the pig is playing a mean play style to make your head pop or just dealing with the m1 struggles and a character who almost doesn't have power until the first down.

  • First, I will start off with the frustrations of playing against the pig (survivor's struggles)

The pig's head traps can be some of the most annoying things to face in the game. All it takes is for you to be forced off the box for 1 second and all the progress towards searching a box is lost. Whether it's because you scream or the killer physically forces you off the box you lose all your progress when searching. This can be really annoying because there's a timer on your head reminding you if you don't search a certain amount of boxes that you will die.

So how do we fix this exactly?

  1. Make it so that boxes partially save your progress on boxes.
  2. Make box searching progress regress after a certain time that the survivor lets go of the box. Let's say it saves your progress of search for 3 seconds. So if you scream your progress won't be lost. After 3 seconds have passed and you haven't continued the search the search progress will start to regress every second a second of the box search progress is lost. Let's say you searched the box for 8 seconds it will take the 3 + 8 seconds of being off the box for all progress to be lost.

This will force the pig into chasing you off the box which pauses your timer. Instead of you screaming and losing all of your search progress instantly. This will remove the scummy practices of making you scream and losing progress. The pig will actually have to invest in Chase in order to get a head pop.

  • Secondly, I will now cover frustration as playing as the pig (Killer struggles)

The pig has a weak stealth aspect and this causes many to rarely use the pig's stealth factor. She is classified as a stealth killer and yet it is one of the most underused parts of her kit. This leaves most pigs to play her as an m1 killer who doesn't attempt to use that aspect of her kit.

Why do pigs hardly ever use their stealth power?

I believe it's because it takes way too much investment and you get little out of it. Her crouch speed and her ambush which also can barely be called an ambush contribute to the pig's stealth being rarely used. Includes her anti-loop ability the ambush rarely being used every match because it isn't fully effective at hitting survivors. Her ambush is usually only used at weak tiles because used anywhere else and it doesn't get the job done.

So what should be done to make the pig's stealth aspect be used more? along with her unique anti-loop chase power?

  1. Buffing her crouch speed to anything between 3.8 to 4.2 m/s would make more pigs be willing to use her crouch and stealth aspect. I personally would like 4 m/s crouch speed because then you will be the same speed as survivors so if you're in chase you won't lose as much distance when going down for a crouch.
  2. Make the ambush more effective at what it should be used as. It's called an ambush for a reason it should be a surprise. You may think it sounds harsh but having a completely quiet ambush or pig screech when she's already mid-dash would make it a much more of a surprise. Rather than a warning noise that tells survivors to leave the loop at that instant.
  3. Make the ambush slightly longer so that if a mind game needs to be done with the dash it can be done at more useful tiles/loops in the game.
  • Conclusion

This will make the more mean playstyles that make you scream off of boxes unviable and will involve skill in knowing where the survivors are in order to force them off boxes.

This makes the pig have a more interesting stealth & chase power where survivors will be required to pay attention to their surroundings.

(small little notes for if the nerfs to boxes are too harsh add these as options)

Being that box times actually save better than previously box search times might need a slight length increase to allow pigs to have more time to find these survivors searching boxes. I would say add like 2 maybe 3 extra seconds at tops making searches 15 seconds now that searches don't instantly fade out of existence.

(current search time is 12 seconds without add-ons)

Or

Give the pig an extra bear trap base kit (currently 4) now 5 to make up for the box progress saving.

Good post +1 Only thing i kinda disagree with is removing the sound from charging completely. Making it trigger when half way would be a better idea i feel.

Very rare for pig players to knowledge how awful it is to play against her due to abusing scream perks and double gear box.

I would add that traps should be active once they are on your head. Why? People are really good at 99ing gens all the time. Even with Gen slowdown, they just 99 them again and then hidevuntil their mate has done the boxes.

One time I was looking at 4 99ed gens while 1 was looking through boxes....

It would also be a good thing if the trap isn‘t active and you searched a box that it will be activated

I had exactly the same thoughts, and was planning to post something similar.

Only concern I have is, Pig will never be top tier, and her RBTs are the unique part of her kit. By making her better at chase, and weakening her RBTs, would we be pushing her to being more generic?

I personally love this change, as I go hard on my build as chase/stealth Pig, but not sure how all Pig's should be made more chase oriented... don't want another Freddy situation after all 😁

Yeah having it completely silent may be a bit unfair meeting in the middle is a good idea.

This would increase the pig's strength immensely. It could be too much but I think it would be fair in a way. It would become active after one search because the device knows you're messing with it. So inactive traps would get one free search and then it would become an active trap.

But who knows maybe that would be a bit strong, then again the changes I suggested do pause the search timer for a short period and that could be a compromise.
