Who is the killer that all killer balance should be judged by?

With survivors always asking for nerfs to strong killers like nurse and blight, and spirit to a significantly lesser degree, it got me thinking: Who exactly is the strong killer currently in the game that killer balance should be judged by? A killer that is agreed by most to be strong, but not so strong that they need to be nerfed in any way? A killer that we wish weaker killers like Trapper, Myers, and Pig were more like?

Who is the most balanced "strong" killer that all killer balance should be judged by?

Prior to his nerf of epic proportions, it was definitely Hillbilly. He was very strong, but had good counterplay. Then the overheat nerf happened along with his addons getting gutted ,and well, the rest is history?

Does any current strong killer meet the criteria to be the killer that all other killers should be judged by in the terms of balance?

Wesker and other killers on his level should be the strongest killers in the game. S tier killers should not exist and there is no good argument that they should considering what they are capable of. I don't think D tier killers should exist either to be clear. A small handful of killers are just pathetically weak.

Mmmmmm. Oni can have a very tough time against decent survivors who deny him an injure for awhile.

I personally feel like demo is weak.

Edit - oni when his blood orbs were bugged felt PERFECT to me.

Oni also destroys most survivors (solo queue). He’s really good.

Except for his tunneling ability, Wesker.

He has counterplay on both sides, and is actually fun. Thats why his pickrate is so high.

Probably Wesker. He is strong, but balanced, as he allows for a lot of counterplay on both sides. Oni is another killer that seems really well balanced. Or Xenomorph

Oni and Dredge by a long shot.

Nah Wesker is above average, baseline is like Wraith or Clown, basic m1, 4.6 m/s with extra mobility/stealth or some anti loop

I'm on the mind that the killer that all balance should be judged by is Pinhead. Good signature ability that has strong counterplay (requires aim and reading a survivors movements), and has a secondary ability that is strong, but becomes weaker the longer the game goes on.

Id say more Oni and Wesker as Dredge is WAY too map dependant. Dredge on Haddonfield vs Dredge on Midwich might as well be 2 entirely different killers

Oni with blood bug was fun. I would agree. demo is too weak. I would say xeno.

Pretty much any killer in otz's A tier is what I think is good besides spirit. All of those killers are fine to vs and are strong.

BUT buffing weaker killers up to that level with their current kits would make them absolutely miserable to play against. Make clown A tier while keeping his power even remotely the same without making him uncounterable.

    Nurse.

The community wants survivors to be buffed because bad survivor players are worse zhan good survivor players on thirdparty comms. Close the gap between solo and swf and all that.

So why the hell should the balance goal for killers not be the strongest killer available? Additionally, on the killer side of things, all the other killers can be buffed without affecting the top killers.

    more like huntress and Blight.

-Even when I hate boomerang hitboxes the killer ; shes perfectly balanced i dont like that aspect of her but yeah shes okay.

-Blight outside of hug tech /busted addons and the exploits around it ,basekit blight is the most balanced killer in the game.

    Blight.

    Wesker.

These are fun and inspire working to win against, they feel fair and usually not frustrating.

    So I'd balance around those.

I'd say Huntress for ranged, but I really don't like/can't get used to her axes and their hitboxes, it feels like I have to go too far beyond an obstruction to be clear of a hit.

Billy used to be the gold standard for balancing. Both sides considered Billy to be balanced, no one complained about him. But then they changed Billy...

Oni I can understand. But Demo? Demo is nowhere near as strong as Oni. His addons are terrible, his mobility is pretty mediocre because he needs to set up his portals before he can use them and his shred is not all that strong either.

People still argue that Billy was so balanced?

he was easily top 3, no actual downside to spamming insta saw and stupid strong addons.

he was in need of a nerf and many were asking for it and agreed he was very strong.

They should buff some Killers to B+ / A Tier.

Considering killers have different abilities, you have to have a few "standards" for different categories.

The Oni and the Dredge are 2 which stand out for me in terms of chase and teleport categories. Oddly, the Singularity also has potential for a teleporting/chase hybrid.

Problem is is how does the "standard" work in terms of balance for future killers, whilst not making a bunch of closely-repetitive powers? I'd prefer a varied mix overall.

Wesker seems the consensus and I agree.

I think one of the things about him that he does better than the other killers is meet skill levels correctly. A bad Wesker is going to have an even match against bad survivors, a good Wesker is going to have an even match against good survivors.

Some killers, like Wraith, start off just massacring the survivors until they climb in MMR. Others, like Nurse, get crushed at the start until the player masters the killer and then they have a significant edge.

Additionally: none of his add-ons are broken that make him too strong (Blight).

Wesker and blight for sure. Both offer skill expression on both sides. Both can keep up with skilled survivors.

Id say wesker, idk why so many people say demo, he is easy af to beat if the survivors are semi-decent.

    1 Wesker

    2 Demo

3 Dredge (add some more lockers to maps).

Between those 3 in terms of power, addons and theme to me would be the best.

In my opinion: Demogorgon, Oni and Huntress
