If this is true it's useless

I saw this over on the DBD Reddit and if true, this new feature is basically useless. But tbh, not surprised cuz killers need to get their kills in.

Fun Fact:

Every hook stage is 60 seconds. Anti-Camp doesn't fill the first 7 seconds - 53 seconds remain. Anti-Camp needs 100 charges to be full. It fills with 0.5 charges per second at 16 metres, 1 charge per second at 14 metres, 1.75 charges per second at 11 metres and 5 charges per second at 0-4 metres.

I mentioned the 1.75 charges per second at 11 metres, because then it would take ~57 seconds to fill. Which unfortunately is just longer than your hook stage. So Anti-Camp has a range of 11 metres. Also known as useless.

They go on to mention that downed survivors count against the clock if they are too close. Why?

Hope more killers see this. My survivor games have had nothing but free easy save with killers just sprinting away and has made unhooking extremely boring. I prefer some risk and challenge to make unhooking feel like an accomplishment.

They made downed survivors slow the progress because during the PTB people just rush the hook or intentionally lead the Killer that was not camping back to the hook, knowing the other one can escape whatever happens. What was the only real counter to the strat? Slugging the savior and tunnel the hooked one, there was no other option, if slugging and tunneling is your thing then sure we can go back to the PTB.

Because its unfair that my SWF can’t just rush the hook and give me a free escape 😩

basement needs to go. other than that, mechanic gives enough room for you to safely unhook. you just can't go for an unhook and fully expect the killer to be nowhere around all the time.

Because anti facecamping isn't designed to give survivors massive advantages all the time.

Also you have to rely on your teammates eventually.

You might feel better when you're playing single mode game or else.

It's meant to deter FACEcamping not Proxy Camping

Also if there's another Survivor close by then why would it fill faster

Also if another Survivor is in chase nearby then why would it fill faster

There is literally no anti camping feature in the game. What are you going on about? The devs even posted that camping is a legitimate expected part of killer gameplay.

If you're talking about the anti face camping feature, that is entirely different. It is just there to shut down the occasional situation where a killer just parks their butt in front of the hook and does a stare down - typically a bubba thing.

I play killer a lot. I dont camp but I will say it needs to fill a little faster. I have tested it with my son in custom match and you can still camp close. and some killers can still face camp you and the bar wont fill.

That's a little misleading. It absolutely addresses the most egregious forms of facecamping, where a killer just stands in front of the hook mindlessly for no reason. In those scenarios, the system works basically perfectly and allows the survivor to unhook themselves so they can make distance and the game can progress again.

It doesn't help in some hyper-specific instances of facecamping (EG, Tombstone Myers), but that's something that can be fixed with adjustments rather than being an abject failure.

For proxy camping, it pushes the killer a little further away so saves can be attempted, which is still a benefit, and it wasn't even designed to really affect this much at all anyway.

Could be any # of factors: region, time, mmr

This is just what Ive seen since the change, granted I hardly ever saw camping before.

It not built to give free escapes from the hook or to force killers to run to the far side of the map, or to modify hook timers.

Its basically to prevent the game experience of... I get found 30s into match I get hooked, face camped, die on hook my game experience is 1 min of chase and 3 mins of hook next game.

That's the one scenario its designed to alter. That's it.

You now don't have to be unhooked by someone else and can get back into the game again on your own, if the killer is staring you in the face. The onus is still on you the survivor to escape from the killer in your next chase.
