I don't get the logic of this event tbh (From killer's perspective)
So you have to play match normaly and collect orbs.
Then you have to open a portal, go inside this portal and bring the energy to the "ghost" to get some buffs...
And then you need to exit a portal, then you have (probably wont even happen) find this ghost on a real map to get the same buffs for like 15-20 seconds? Or get survivors run over those ghosts to get them some debuffs.
While you doing ALL THIS, survivors just doing gens and getting out.
I'm so sorry, but event sounds like a huge chunk of a wasting time on not very benefit buffs, that probably not even going put any effect on your gameplay.

Please let us use our ghost allies to expose survivors on demand or break pallets, that was the best event ever :D :D :D

I'm telling you. xD I just played a match as a killer: to do all that stuff to get at least 1 ghost out to the real map, you have to spend a good 15-20 seconds before you getting out of the portal, just to get 1 survivor hindered for like what... 15 seconds? I haven't even noticed anything.
Now imagine how many times you have to do so in order to get SOME value... It's not worth it.
Besides, while I was doing all this, they were just completing gens. -_-
I'd rather just playing a game normaly and breaking heads around. xD

Haven't tried the killer side, yet, but even with the survivors it is a tad bit too complicated. I mean, the main focus is still the usual way you play DbD, of course. But trinkets? They replace nodes so that no new challenges need to be added.
Will we have enough trinkets to purchase everything?
2 -
Play the normal way while doing side tasks that you need to do which all the while killers have to do nothing different to get things done and simply turn the match/event into a miserable sweat fest.
Slugged in the void realm is super fun new thing... lol

I feel like they were going for something big with the Void Realm, but it might not have landed as they intended. So far, I've played 2 killer games. One with Artist on Eyrie (ironic), and one with Xeno on Ormond. Both times, I got survivors trying too hard to stun me and going down as a result, and both times I got people down in the Void realm. I guess survivors were building into stunning last time, but it still feels like the best way to get points for your haunts/rifts is with gens and hooks. Then, people try to "escape" into the Void Realm... which is a bad idea. I've just jumped through the rift after them, and I usually catch them because they can't exit the Void before an attack lands. Even if they have endurance, the action resets and they have to try again, with the same result.
On top of all this, the Haunts don't really feel like they add anything back in the trial. Both games I charged a number of Haunts, and they did pretty much nothing. None of my Eyrie Haunts were triggered, and on Ormond the survivors triggered a Haunt, but I was far away from it. It feels like the survivors didn't get any Haunt-related bonuses either.
Overall, the Void Realm-and-Haunts thing feels too complicated to attach to a trial. The Killer has little to no incentive to go into the Void Realm except to catch someone, and you can't escape from the killer by jumping into the Void Realm. When you do get a Haunt, it doesn't really do anything. It's too much risk for too little reward.
TL:DR - I think the Void Realm could be cool as a setting for a quick, rush-type game mode, but it doesn't work as a side objective.

You can see the aura of the ghosts and other auras if you brought the event offering, however if you haven't got any from last year's event you gotta wait that they fix the bug in the blood web

Exactly.
No reward for the ammount of time you have to waste.
The game's paste as a killer doesn't allow you to do any side objectives if it's not less than 10 sec.
Plus - Survivors are more hardly doing gens because they want energy, so you have even less time to waste as a killer.
I played 4 matches already, trying to achieve those ghosts is only harming your outcome.
Thank you.=) I knew that. But it's not helping the overall situation at all.=)

I have played some more and actually the void realm is pretty great for tactics. There are different entry points but they also serve as exit points. Killers might just surprise you. We lost a match to a Huntress cleverly going back and forth on RCPD. I also entered regularly as I noticed the ghosts can partially recharge toolboxes (and I assume other items). It was a pretty fun and long-lasting match.
1 -
Huh. I guess it almost works like a Xeno tunnel network for everyone. If more people use it that way and really figure it out, it could be an interesting few weeks.
Unfortunately, it doesn't fix the problem with the Haunts.
2 -
The idea behind the event is to have fun and enjoy a different mechanic. If you want to play competitively, then ignore the void and play normally.
4 -
Leave it to killer mains to try to ruin a fun event for everyone else with the non stop sweating.
9 -
If a killer participating in this event by enterring the portals to get ghosts - you as a survivor basically playing without a killer.
You're free to slam gens while the killer is wasting time on basically nothing. Those ghosts are practically useless.
You're not even getting a lot of bloodpoints for doing so. A good source of bloodpoints are just spending them to open a portal.
11 -
The same can be said about survivors
5 -
Also use it to tp between locations it's impossible to escape if you catch a surivor in there during to the animation to leave being longer than the wipe
1 -
Yeah, I've read about this.=)
This would come in handy. At least for not mobile killers.
But ghosts are still useless. xD

Engaging with the event is hurting me more than helping me, for both sides.

I will be interested to see how it goes as people get used to it. My first impression is that the haunts can help whoever's already winning, but, if you're already winning, you probably don't need them.
I am curious to know what happens if you slug someone in the void. I haven't seen anyone try it yet.

Void is genuinely useless as a killer, when playing killer it's more time- and BP-efficient to just play normally and only interact with void-related things when energy is maxed.
1 -
Everything has to be Us vs. Them huh?
11 -
It's kind of weird how weak the ghosts are when we got ranged pallet breaking and on demand exposed for the last event.
3 -
I just think they should do these events as different game modes instead of putting it as normal games. A lot of time for me it feels like a waste of time to do the side objectives. A lot of times its hurts killers more when doing these side objectives. You have to make a choice either play around with the event and lose or compete ignore it all altogether and just play normally and get called a sweatly killers
2 -
the problem is that you most likely going to be paired up with ppl who want to play competitively. The problem here is that you as a killer have to throw pretty much if you pair up with survivors who might just want to play the game normally. This is why I say they need two game modes. A normal game mode and an event game mode.
2 -
Survivors are NOT doing gens and getting out lol I'm 8 survivor games in and everyone's dead at multiple gens because survivors are doing exactly what killers are doing instead of doing gens. And I'll add that it doesn't bother me - it's an event, and it's a nice change of pace having these other objectives
2 -
I only have a sample size of 8 games but so far I've had no sweaty killers. They've all gotten 4k but they've been chill, no tunnelling or camping. Had a fun chase with a Knight (never thought I'd say that lol) in the void.

That's not true at all. Most people playing are going to want to engage with the event. Winning means absolutely nothing in DBD and does become kind of monotonous. Most people would take a little disadvantage to change things up.
DBD doesn't have a ranked mode or any way to compare yourself to others. If you care more about winning every game than having fun with a limited event, what are you even doing?
0 -
I competely disagree. Ppl do care a lot about winning in dbd, if they didnt you wouldn't see MFTs, slowdown, BNP, map offering and ect. DBD is pvp game at the end of the day and in pvp games ppl want to win no matter what.
2 -
Talk about a gen rush! Yeah survivors should be doing gens, but damn Im seeing solo squads coming in with swf meta to rush gens and its either all toolbox or flashlights. Maybe theyre done with the rift already but its been a straight rush to the gate in my games.
1 -
I don't think slugging should matter too much, since the void collapses eventually, and when it does it spits everyone back out into the map.
1 -
So I just did few matches and I can say I really don't like this event as killer. All my matches was miserable and not fun. Survivors not interacting with stuff and just sitting on gens while I collect energy and going into the other realm. I don't think I saw a single survivor enter the other realm at all. I DC on my last match just because it was so boring.
2 -
You act like they play their own game and understand what the point is😂 This event is a sorry excuse mechanic wise. Only good thing is free skins I guess for doing what I was already doing before the event

Most people playing PvP games aren't playing to win no matter what. They play to have fun. Running strong perks doesn't mean you care about winning and nothing else. I often run meta perks and I'm almost never playing with the attitude that it's win at all costs.
MFT is a perfect example of a perk that's more fun than it is actually useful. If you have a win at all costs mind-set, there are much, much better perks.
0 -
You sound very naive to me. I don't think you understand how majority people play pvp games. Winning is part of the fun, no one likes to lose that why they play the meta. Just because you don't care about winning doesn't mean other feel same way as you. It doesn't matter if it's a super competitive game like CS go or a party game like Mario party, ppl play to win.

It should not be, survivors only need 1 teammate to meme around for 1min is enough to kill their whole team. Killers also dont have enough time to get into the void to give them a buff that they may never use.
Everything needs a flow on their objectives, not having to go on different route that not helping on the goals.
2022 Halloween event was really well designed, eventhough it was more simple.
2 -
Lets not pretend its a one sided issue
2 -
Good for you. My experience has been sweaty team after sweaty team that just cranks gens as fast as they can and abuses MFT to get to portals before I can reach them, dive into portals, and then immediately teleport out of the same portal. If you have any degree of slower ping than them, the time it takes you to duck in and out of the void after them means they're long gone.
On paper this event sounds AWESOME! And if survivors were playing it the way you describe, it would be. But in my experience, it's just been miserable and really highlights the most busted survivor side perks like MFT, Hope, Adrenaline, etc.
Props to the artists who designed the pumpkins at least. Those are cool.

I've been playing mostly survivor today and it takes way too long to enter and exit a void in a chase. Every time I've tried I've gotten hit or downed.
2 -
If you're only playing Mario Party to win, you're not going to have a very good time.
There's also a massive difference between caring about winning and only caring about winning.

This. The ghosts should actively hunt down survivors and either expose, hinder or highlight them with killerinstinct or maybe block a gen for a time. Thetrapp ghost are utterly random and there effect is rather miniscule and shortlived, so I don't get the killers side of this event at all.
3 -
What survivors are doing gens?
I think in (trying not to exaggerate) 60ish percent of my matches today, everyone was dead before 2 gens were done.
Survivors aren't playing the objective. They would rather run around and collect void. I actually raged at the game today and that is really rare for me. Events are never fun for survivor, and this event is no different.

I haven't complained :(. I've been pretty happy with the event, especially because it seems like BHVR heard the complaints from last year and actually improved aspects of it, like not trying the rewards to wins. I'm also super happy to be able to get the Mikaela witch skin for Iri Shards, which last year was only available for auric cells.

The haunts that manifest on the normal map are pretty unreliable and underwhelming, you are not wrong there but It does not take that much time for the killer to enter the void realm, get the buff and leave. And the buff you get from the void realm is pretty decent.
- The stealth you get from freeing a haunt is quite strong on any killer that does not innately have stealth. Specially Wesker.
- You can also use the portals to traverse the map without being tracked via your terror radius.
Not the most powerful or exciting mechanic but i like the change of pace it brings. The concept of having a separate realm to enter mid match has a lot of potential too. Hopefully this idea gets refined for future content.
