The MMR system needs some serious work
(I apologize in advance for the long post! Wanted to get in some examples as to why I think the MMR system is currently struggling)
I have been playing a good amount during the event right now, mostly due to the high amount of bloodpoints one does get during the event right now. But by god... I am not sure if it is the event is causing these matchmaking issues, but the matchmaking needs some serious work. The matches feel WAY TOO one sided right now in many cases, with you either stomping the other side or being stomped in like 3 minutes.
Some examples from my last seven matches:
The P0 Renato was clearly a new player, as he was struggling with even basic things like knowing where the killer is, hitting skill checks or not hiding in a corner when the killer is chasing someone else. Yet here he is, versing against a very good huntress who landed her shots very well and has a great amount of experience.
This Feng as well: Played rather new, hiding a lot and she waited inside the void for the entire two minutes, doing nothing cause she was mostly scared and didn't know how the even worked as she later admitted in chat. The Oni was a 4k hours streamer who was doing an adept streak.
The Feng was afk in the beginning, which is why she died with less than 3k points, yet that didn't matter, as the dredge was playing dredge for the 2nd time, not using his power at all in chase and struggling with gen defense. Checked his profile: 30 hours... against a P100 3k hours David
Last but not least, this nemesis, who had 50 hours in the game and never used his power. Only reason why he got a 2k was due to Ada attempting a save in the end game, not knowing that he had noed, which was right next to the hooked Leon.
Those were four matches out of seven I played today and I had a lot of similar games yesterday as well. Am I the only one experiencing this horrendous matchmaking? I hope the answer is yes, cause those matches are horrible when it comes to quality for almost everyone involved and I do not wish such games on anyone else.

Backfilling could have caused these things to happen, and that's usually due to lobby shopping. Without seeing the gameplay that's the best cause I can give.

That I know happened for sure on two of the games (the first two mainly), not sure about the other ones. Wish BHVR would change that and instead make it that it finds a person that fits the lobby at least somewhat in order to keep the balance.

Yes this is always what I say about the MMR system and the high volume of players who came back for the event while it has died down this was a big problem at the start of the event.

Definitely not the only one. Solo queue has been essentially unplayable for me for a long time now. I give it a shot every week or so and it's consistently awful. I'm guessing SBMM was the previous lead dev's baby because they've been radio silent about improving it or changing it since they left. There's zero reason whatsoever to play solo survivor if you care about the PVP or competition aspect at all. The devs flat out do not care about experienced solo players who try to play well. You're only there to provide an instant queue and hopefully carry newer players. That has been my experience since they nerfed SBMM and lowered the cap. But then every 10 games or so you'll get one match with players at your experience and skill level to make you think those other games were a goofy fluke, only to find good matchmaking is the exception in solo queue, not the rule.

It's not just you. As mentioned above it could be due to backfilling. I guess we'll see once the devs finish their hiding prestige testing if there's any improvement on that front.

This is why lobby dodging needs to be nuked from orbit.

Lobby dodging should not be a thing, as Im pretty confident that backfilling is the biggest contributing factor to bad matchmaking
Here's what I think needs to happen:
You can no longer back out of a lobby.
Lobby screen completely revamped. Killers can no longer see Survivors in the Lobby and Survivors can see their teammates perks for better coordination.
While in this screen, they are given a minimum of 30 seconds and the additional time is spent loading the game.
If some one disconnects while loading, the remaining players are sent back to the lobby in priority queue.
When a game is over the lobby stays open for 1 minute. You may chose to leave, but the remaining players stay in the lobby and other players with similar MMR are filled in to replace those that left.
If there are not enough players to start a game and the 1 minute is up, the remaining players are sent to priority queue

Interesting. My preference was no lobby at all and just load in to the trial directly. But these ideas are deeper than I considered.
Imo worthy of testing out.

Yeah I agree. It definitely is odd. I went against a Billy who didn't use his chainsaw once. Baby Billy. Match went as expected.

What if there was a queue time penalty that increased every time you lobby dodge, similar to the DC penalty? That way you can dodge one game if you think someone is about to be a real troublemaker, but you can't consistently dodge several lobbies to get the most baby-looking survivors to kill (or the most cracked looking teammates as survivor)

All it need is disposal.
I would wait 3 minutes catching queue if I can have more fair match than SBMM decides.
