DBD Switch’s Performance is Only Getting Worse

Before I type out anything, to the PC/XBox/PS player reading this — Yes, I know Switch is the worse console to play DBD on. But I also don’t have a choice; not to mention that if the game is ported to Switch the game should actually be playable.

With every new map update and new map being added to the game, the Switch’s performance is unsurprisingly taking an absolute nose dive when it comes to running smoothly. As a boneheaded Switch player, I would genuinely be happy with a solid 30fps, but new maps like Toba Landing are so choppy I only have like 2-3 frames to hit a skill check. Red Forrest, Lampkin Lane etc are all horrible experiences, that are bad as survivor and genuinely sickening as killer. The game struggles to hit 30fps and must average 15fps or something.

I fully understand that it’s not easy making DBD run on Switch, but surely something can be done to better it? — But then there’s also the problem of the Switch playerbase being small for DBD, so I doubt the devs are gonna want to sink time and money into such a small portion of their players?

The whole situation just kinda sucks cuz I love DBD, even with it’s faults, but I can’t get excited to play it because every second is a battle against the game running like crap.

Again, no hate or malice, I get why it’s bad, I just wish it was better. The 1.5k hours I’ve played on Switch has made me a tad bitter. Sorry! :’)

It's gotten horrific. I was playing killer matches today to do the tome challenges and it felt like pulling teeth having to fight through the choppy framerate. Every time you think it's getting better, that they're actually bothering to optimize it, another update rolls out and it's awful all over again.

Switch is plenty strong enough to run complex games, it just needs work put into it. I played Warframe on this thing and it worked fine, because they put in the effort to make it work.

I loaded in as survivor on Nostromo, and the Switch performance was a slideshow. I couldn't play the match.

Killer is always awful. If Tome challenges didn't exist, I'd probably never play killer on Switch. It's miserable trying to fight through the performance issues. It'd ridiculously difficult just trying to track survivors in a chase, and with how often I have to pause and change course it's nearly impossible to catch up to them... and then when I do catch up, I swing and it whiffs and the survivor disappears.

Not sure how many hours I have on Switch, but I am extremely bitter. BHVR ported the game to Switch, they should have hired people who specialize in Switch ports so that the game would actually run properly on Switch.

I feel for you. A friend of me plays on Switch too and it's a nightmare.
