Change One Thing about DBD
If you had the choice to change one thing about the game, disregarding balance, what would it be?
I'll go first. When I started playing I remember the old Coldwind maps being my favorites. Not because they looked beautiful or were well balanced (because they weren't) but because they looked ugly, unsettling and made me uncomfortable. It felt like somewhere you really didn't want to be. I miss this feeling and I think the devs waste a lot of potential when it comes to using different lighting to make maps more atmospheric and give them a distinct look.
So I would change a lot of the lighting on different maps and focus on making them more uncomfortable.

if I were to add anything, that would be a ranked gamemode that is pristine from all events, archives and other stupid stuff like that. Map offerings ban maps, there's addons / items pick stage (killer picks addons -> survivors pick any items/addons of the same rarity / lower of killer's addons). Games are played in a set of 3 on different maps with a new pick phase every time. Though it can be just regular gamemode but with stricter matchmaking and free from events/archive challenges so that whenever you sign up for that, you know there won't be stupid goofy stuff going on.

Rework or delete almost any and all remnants of old DBD.
Also making sure that anything that was previously used back in the day during old dbd never makes a return no matter what.

Make the game a LOT more horror

Add "What if" mode, where we will test some funny or interesting and crazy idea/things for 1 or 2 weeks. Maybe even do some balance changes on stats after.
For example:
- No aura perks for week
- No exhaustion perks for week
- All 4.4 killers are 4.5
- Some new mechanics, like on events
- Killers and survivors see each other auras 5 seconds, when match begins
- Matches only with random perks
- No scratch marks and terror radius week (my favourite one)
I have million ideas, but it never will come live sadly, cause BHVR need months or even years to change one symbol in perk's code, i don't expect they do something like this.

It’s tuff to decide between reverting back to old survivor movement or reverting back to the way old azarovs, coldwind and Macmillan used to look

I’m not sure if this falls into the balance category of things, but i think a competitive and a casual mode would be a nice touch. Especially since the game has grown over the years, i think a casual mode would be helpfully to those just starting to play— both for killer and survivor. Maybe make map changes according to the mode and to certain perks/power add ons.

I would revert back to old Survivor/Killer portraits... Most of them still look very fan-made imo. Horrible lighting, awkward poses, some killers look goofy, they look plastic...

Kinda miss old survivor face/animations which looked goofy too.

Only allowing certain realms to be played by certain killers
This would avoid situations like Billy being sent to Lerys, or Dredge on Swamp.

I would give nurse a 5cm lunge, that could be extended to 15cm with stacked add-ons.
Otherwise, I would delete the stupid hag.

Remove MMR completely, and go back to the old matchmaking where players were placed in matches based on their color grades.

Add a large number of maps with a lot variaty, like downtowns with actual elevations. In fact, have elevations in the map instead of just two floors.

I would replace midwich with Alchemilla Hospital cause IMO it could have been a much better map for the silent hill chapter when it came out (even if we have no idea what it would look like if it was in the game)

I would try to get the voice actor who played Dom in the Gears of War franchise, Carlos Ferro, to provide the new voice.

Wouldn't the mode they add by definition be the ranked one, and the one we have now the unranked one?
We don't have ranked mode stuff in the game at the moment, so they'd have to add all that in.

IMO what we have is a mix of both ranked and unranked... so basically I'm saying to split it up

What makes you say that? I don't see anything in the game that I'd consider a hallmark of a ranked mode. I guess you could argue the grade system is kinda-sorta like a ranked ladder's placement ranks, but considering it isn't used for matchmaking and it isn't visible to other players, I don't think it really counts.

I'd add a requirement that every player has to spend at least a few games on both sides so players could understand what the other side is like. My aim would be to decrease toxicity and increase empathy (or, at least, recognize there is another human being playing the other side in a match).

So this is going to be hard to explain... I might get off topic (Just a forewarning)
What we have now is more like unranked then anything... but what we had before could be better then what we have now
Also we know how to raise our MMR
So I'm suggesting to add more onto MMR (Gens and Hook states only)
Adding in Grades into MM... and having that be what everyone sees (also to see if that changes anything... probably not but)
What we have now is just a shell of itself toned down and broken

Isn't MMR typically used for ranked modes?
I think that's not a bad idea. But instead of forcing people to play both sides I'd suggest having them play 5 games on each side to earn good chunk of BP and maybe shards (maybe 500k BP and 6k iri shards, that they can use for the shrine).
If people don't want to play either side for whatever reasons, then that is fine. Maybe they want to play with their friends and not allowing them to do that sounds wrong to me. But adding an incentive to give it a go would probably have the desired effect.
Now, that is a drastic change!

Well, sure, but it's also used for the unranked modes. It's just how normal matchmaking works, as far as I could figure out- I googled around a bit after DBD added MMR to better understand the topic.

Too many different things to choose so I'll stick with a small and realistic one; tone down the green crap cluttering the screen when you're infected by Plague's power. We don't need it to understand that the tall lady puked on us.
