I don't belong in IRI
Idk man. I have so much fun. Then I'm in red ranks. I noticed here the game drops off in terms of fun.
But fun I don't mean escapes and 4ks. I mean just fun. I notice gens fly. Killers camp and tunnel hard. Worst perk builds, and swfs.
I'm solo.. over here like... "can we just loop and be goofy and have some fun?"
Call me crazy but why is it I get here so fast and then notice the immediate change in everyone's attitude?
They say rank has nothing to do with skill. I say bull. I see a noticeable difference in gameplay.
As killer I don't care so much. I have my own personal agenda I'm doing. As long as I'm doing well on the 1v1 with that particular killer I'm happy.
As survivor... oh boy... I have to sweat so hard lmao. I can't be the only one that sees this right? I mean there's a significant difference in iri in terms of gameplay with both killer and survivor.
The interesting thing tho. As killer iri means far less to me than iri as survivor. I guess because I have 3 other people to worry about

Grades have nothing to do with matchmaking
Its all MMR which is a hidden number

It's not ranks anymore it's grades. resets to what used to be 20 every month and has nothing to do with who you're matched with. I think the only purpose it has now is for blood points at resets.

You say this.. butni legit feel the change. Why is that that?

I play solo and don't notice a difference based on grade at all. Sure it's not just a perception thing? It's harder to rank up/pip once you hit iri so that can make the games feel more difficult. Plus if you don't hit iri until the week before reset, games can definitely get a bit sweaty as everyone wants to get to iri 1 asap.

I notice a big difference in opponent quality at different times of the day.
East coast evening is sweaty.
Later night east coast is more relaxed...
That sort of cycle.

Placebo effect

Exactly what burt0r said

Is it? This is a question to ask. Is it honestly a placebo effect? 100% Idk. It could be I guess. I could be inside my own head but one wonders.
After years. I do feel a different game.

It is.
You will most likely think it is more difficult because pipping is way harder in Iri Grades than before and since Depipping is still a thing (and honestly everyone thinks it should be removed), you can easily get stuck at Iri-Grades for some time. So it feels harder.
But it does not have any impact on Matchmaking at all.

getting to iri requires a lot of wins which increases your mmr, but grades aren’t directly tied to your mmr

It is. Grades/Ranks haven't had any role in matchmaking for years. Matchmaking is based off of a hidden number that is based on how often you win. It is NOT reset during rank reset either.
You probably notice harder games as the season goes on because in order to get to iri grades you need to win, which increases you MMR number so you get harder games but not because of your grade. Each killers MMR is also different so you might have easier games with one killer compared to another because your matchmaking score is higher on one than the other.
Or maybe it's just to do with the time of day you are playing. Or maybe people play less 'sweaty' at the start of rank reset and now everyone's back to playing how they used to.
This event also encourages killers to play sweater because they can't really interact with the event unless they are massively ahead without being put at a disadvantage. So it could go back to how you like it once the event is done :)

It is called the "Placebo Effect". You think something is different, therefore it feels different.
