Hmmm, wonder why he might be popular?

Surely it's not because he's broken OP or anything.

He needs more than a "Billy treatment".

An actual punishment for mistakes would be appropriate without all the "techs" that circumvent survivor counterplay.

He's popular because he's exceptionally well-designed, has a very high skill ceiling, and rewards players for getting good with him. As opposed to a killer like Billy who also has a very high skill ceiling but performs poorly when compared with killers who are much easier to play.

There's also an argument to be made that Blight and Nurse are the only two balanced killers in the game. They're the two killers that actually stand a fair chance to win on most maps, even assuming survivors don't make any critical mistakes, when played moderately well. Most other killers will get destroyed on 95% of maps even with perfect play if the survivors play moderately efficient.

Also, his techs are easier to counter than playing him how he was meant to be played. A bump logic only Blight can outplay almost any non-god pallet in the game.

"...and rewards players for getting good with him"

The rewards is never lose? Really? You know blight mains can win thousands of a matches. This has been discussed and posted a lot. The skill of all those survivors were simply minimized because of a player learned a little tech with a broken killer. I don't think that is balanced, it wouldn't be allowed in any other game except kill simulator Dead by Daylight.

Plenty of Blights lose all the time. The Blights that you mention "winning all the time" are mostly a consequence of matchmaking being so poor. If a survivor put half the time into learning to play against Blight that the Blight killer put into learning to play the killer, that survivor wouldn't have fallen for those "little techs". Just about anything Blight does that can be considered a tech can be countered relatively easily.

If you really wanna talk about winstreaks, KnightLight has a ~600 winstreak with Nurse using no perk or addons whatsoever.
