Lightborn and Upset Survivors
Wow. I run lightborn every match but lately I've seen a Survivor or two DC instantly when they realize they can't blind me. Just had a group of 4 all DC 🤣
Pro tip: If 4 Survivors are in a lobby with 4 flashlights, the killer WILL be running lightborn. Especially when you're all Feng Min in the exact same outfit.

4 survivors with flashlights? I thrown on Lightborn is I see 2 flashlights. Losing a hook to a flashlight save can mean the difference between a good game and a bad game.

I use lightborn with 4 flashlights as well but otherwise I'll use Franklins. No feeling quite like seeing a white ward when running Franklins.
5 -
Could be trying to do "blind the killer" tome challenges and not willing to play out a whole game unable to do that. I've been there. Haven't DC'd over it but it's a bummer.

Even against a 4 man with flashlights, I am a master of Lookatawalljutsu and Lookawaykwondo
Being a master at both of these techniques have made my eyes safe from any danger from a mere torch.
4 -
Why? Does the white ward not work if the killer runs FD?
0 -
I wish I was that skilled
1 -
It does not, unless that changed recently with the item update which I don't believe it did. Pretty common for white ward survivors to DC when hit or start locker hopping like you were a Tombstone Myers. It's pretty funny actually.

Use knight for a free lightborn 8-]

My student, before you run you must learn to walk. Crawl your way out of the trap that is Lightborn, learn the ways of Lookatawalljutsu and Lookawaykwondo, and some day you may be as good as me, or even better

How do you avoid getting blinded when breaking a pallet?
8 -
you need to die with the item in your hand. it doesn't protect the add ons if you escape with the items either, as far as i know.
1 -
Some survivors would rather go for blinds than do gens. Lightborn shuts down that interaction. 4 survivors with flashlights probably would tell me that's 4 survivors who aren't really focused on gens.
8 -
Blinding at a pallet is a detriment to the Survivor 9/10 times since they lose quite a bit of distance.
Only time its really helpful, is if the killer has some sort of insta down or something where they can get a quick down and youre in a deadzone. If played correctly you can get to a safer place that way, but its still risky
3 -
They always try to blind me atvthe pallet

You would think Flashlights are the most lethal item out there. When I run Flashlight and Background Player I rarely get a save (I'm not good at Flashlight saves) cause most of the time the killer is just looking at a wall and the survivor doesn't even bother to position into an open space.
The only goated save I've managed was through the cracks of shack.
I also got an upset killer earlier. He got his first down and I sabo'd his hook. He downed me and Meg Flashlight saved me and DC'd. That's like the first time I've seen such ragequit.

It's event time, so there are lots of newbies queuing up to play their first Killer games. I'm near %100 sure this bully squad loaded up the game with the sole intentions of torturing new Killers, but DC'd the moment they realised you weren't the soft target they were hoping for.
How do I know? Because this is exactly what happened to me when I first started playing DBD six months ago. Honestly, some of those first few games are among the worst experiences I've ever had playing this game.
3 -
You don't Need Lightborn as Killer? Tf lol
just look away before you pick up and face a wall. Easy Counter,

You can let them stand still and gain zero distance while you're blind at a pallet.
You can also track them with audio, since headsets still work while blinded.
I'm a big fan of not using lightborn and letting survivors spend time not on gens trying to be cheeky instead. Let 'em waste time going for saves. Lightborn just makes them give up and do gens instead.

I had a Knight today run LB when I was the only one with a FL.
He got 4 outted.
LB = 1 less gen slow down, so I encourage people to run it. It just makes me sit on motors instead of lurking for saves, which is fine.
In the most respectful way possible, the killers running LB typically are... Inexperienced.. Yeah.. That's a good word for it.
2 -
The word you are looking is "casual". When I'm playing after a day of work, I don't care about "git good" and other stuff.
Also, as a devoted member of the Lightborn cult, I can say I rarely see games where I would win if I had another perk instead of Lightborn. Either I win anyway, or lose so much it doesn't matter what perks I run.

Lightborn is extremely helpful if you have photosensitivity issues and even if you just like having information. You get aura reading on whoever tries to blind you and if you're running lethal pursuer you get for longer so it's like a little mid match lethal pursuer which comes in handy.
Rarely will Lightborn ever contribute to a killer losing which is why I always find it weird when survivors will say people running lightborn just mans more time will be spent on gens. They're gonna be on gens regardless because most players don't completely throw their objective to just follow someone around with a lightstick. That take always sounds like copium, but it is true that most who use lightborn also tend to not be as good at wall facing or moving with camera tilts.
Personally, I think needing to use camera tilt movement is kind of trash because it highlights how binary the entire interaction is. It either works or it doesn't and it doesn't feel all that skillful. It's more skill to attempt a blind rather than defeat a blind, since most players aren't trying to blind you through geometry cracks and just blinding you at animation locks that level of skill isn't that much higher than walking with you camera panned up or down.

Even if they are looking directly at the wall, just blind them from the side. I got blinded and managed to blind from insane angels. Sometimes I can’t even see the survivor in my FOV and still got blinded (without shadowborn).
Timing is also no longer important, so just go for it, there is a good chance the blind will somehow register.
3 -
Except me because I love people trying to flashlight me and not doing anything useful.
1 -
^ this. So much.
Killers running Lightborn just ask for Survivors to spend more times on a Gen. Trying to go for Flashlight Saves is one of the few instances which removes players from Gens and when I play Killer, there is nothing better than someone following me with a Flashlight. (And equally, it is frustrating as Survivor to see someone trying to go for Flashlight Saves when they can sit on a Gen instead)
And it is not like good Survivors would try over and over again. They see that the Killer has Lightborn and just dont bother anymore with Flashlights.
2 -
I envy you. I just can't take the brightness, it makes me physically ill and I always get blinded during pallet break animation.
1 -
Preach my child.
3 -
If I see 4 flashlights I ll bring a green mori and will just tunnel one out early doors. Especially if they seem into just making my job a pain with constant blinds rather than doing gens.
Knight has a mini built in anti flashlight kit. By dropping a guard on a downed survivor, any survivors that come to blind will get detected by the guard. You can then trade a blind for a loss of a health state at the worst, or a guard hits the flashlighter AND you get the hook.
2 -
"tHeN tHey wiLL dO GeNs" I don't think my 1000 hours+ Blight will only sit in the corner and watch.
I know people going for flashlight saves don't do gens. The one I tunnel out won't do anything either.
2 -
I’ve been thinking about playing as the “Flashlight Confiscator”. Only running Franklin’s and only hitting Survivors when they have flashlights 😂
2 -
That’s funny. It always makes me laugh when I see Killers look away super quickly lol.
Speaking of keeping eyes safe… Since I sit so close to the TV when I play, whenever Survivors blind me with a flashlight it sometimes is actually too bright for my actual eyes and I as the player get slightly stunned lmao
1 -
This. It's just delicious.
Bonus points when they either stop to pick up the flashlight and get downed or run a loop around to pick it up and get downed being out of position. You know they're only in the trial for the blinds, and you can keep knocking the flashlight out of their hands until they DC, then just farm pallets/downs/hooks/survivor finds/chase/gen kicks with the bot(s) until you've maxed points.
2 -
Pair Infectious Fright with Forced Hesitation and you get easy downs :)
1 -
I just went against 3 flashlights in the lobby and picked my lightborn. By the time all 3 figured out I have lightborn it was too late. I tried to avoid the beams so they could still run around me and not do gens. Many hooks later they realized and jig was up.
It is the primary way of the lightborn. Fake you don't have it while it will save you if they actually manage a beam save skill.
4 -
I run Lightborn myself, so I'm cool with it and kind of assume a lot of other killers run it, too. And I get really freaking pissed at teammates who don't take that into consideration. I get a lot of teammates who sandbag, body block, and drop pallets on me to force me to go down, all so they can get a flashlight save which 99.9% of the time fails for one reason or another. A pair did that yesterday against a BILLY who, surprise surprise, was running Lightborn. No, they didn't get saved when it was their turn on the hook.
When I run Lightborn, I usually play like I don't have it, looking away from the beam so that the survivors will keep feeding me. You can tell they're feeling cocky about it, too, thinking I'm afraid of the blind. I really do appreciate when they stand still so I actually have a chance at getting a down on Switch; I need them to do that.
1 -
If they dont have a wall near, as soon as the pickup animation is started its a free blind that can not be dodged. There are plenty of documantation of this ^
5 -
Yeeeeaaaahhhh, lightborn gang, let's gooooooo, lol
2 -
But it's still funny , and it does still help a bit for light sensitive people
2 -
Lightborn cult!!!!
2 -
I see two flashlights and I pop on lightborn.
A quick fake like they can blind you, and they will always try. That's at least 1-2 free hits where they're not running away with mft
2 -
I am so happy, so many believers.
All hail to our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎
Praise be to the shades.
4 -
Indeed, not worth to dc but worth a big sigh
1 -
Then Bring Infectious Fright...
take a quick look around...
I would rather verse four people with a Beamer Squad than a Toolbox or a Medkit Squad..
1 -
they get so upset when they cant blind you at every locked animation lol
3 -
why do that and waste time when you can just bring light born and instantly pick up
0 -
I run lightborn whenever I play Wesker, because he wears sunglasses and he's too cool to let a flashlight ruin his day.
6 -
Because they care about winning and infectious fright is really more profitable in that regard, as it warns of potential beamers and reveals their position for an immediate new chase.
But I as a casual killer and steadfast Lightborn apostle don't care about winning, only want my peace and quiet when animation locked and find it extremely hilarious to fake a blind dodge into a smack right into their face with backflip.
3 -
People can bring what they want, no need to laugh at them, if you check my other comments here, you will see that i use Fright my self.
2 -
Yes but you don't see their disappointment after they try to blind you at a pallet/vault, that makes Lightborn funnier and thats what matters.
2 -
If you think of it like this. If you ran Lightborn against lets say a Swf in this case.. and they're on comms or whatnot, they try for a beamer on either you picking up a Survivor OR Pallet Blinding (Or doing a Tome Challenge. Not Bias about it,)
then they'll call it out and will now Start Bombrushing the Gens and try to end the game Quicker compared to "Hey. I have this person on the Ground now.. i know that they will Try to come get the Flashy Blind. lemme Bait this and get a Quick Injure / Down against them to put More Pressure" Now you got one Downed. 1-2 Injured and the 4th working on a Gen somewhere, that would be your best Bet. Imo that is,
Did i laugh at them Entirely? No.. all i said was in the Picture down below,

It's unfortunate that so many survivors DC because of a perk or if there's any kind of slight inconvenience. It's almost like there's a rulebook that killers aren't abiding by...
