Apparently for any interaction you need to have a controversial opinion.
Whenever there's a post about something that needs a change and I would say generally accepted, they never get any interaction, no upvotes, no comments. But as soon as you have a "wrong" opinion, everyone is there to berate you and your opinion. What is that? Would we not have better odds of having the post seen by behaviour and it being implemented if the post did well? But instead people spend the energy on being dramatic and obsessive about their opinion in so called "controversial posts". I don't understand the dbd community

Non-controversial is boring. People love conflict.

I highly doubt there's any argument about dbd that is 'generally accepted'.
Those that may appear as such are rather just so bad that more knowledgeable players don't even bother trying to explain how terrible takes those are.

What @HugTechLover said.
The sky is blue, 4 > 1, Borgo is a pain to look at, Nurse is the strongest killer in the game, Alch Ring and C33 are stupid, I am the very best player in DBD history like no one ever was. All are widely accepted claims but not particularly interesting.
You can however make wholesome or funny posts and still get a good amount of reactions.

People love drama. Also, people rarely just comment "good idea" because it doesn't feel like it adds anything to the discussion.
If I see something I agree with I'll just leave an upvote and rarely comment to add something. On the other hand when it's something you disagree with you definitely have stuff to add to the discussion (although I personally avoid commenting if people have already explained the pov I agree with).
Finally, if people keep commenting the discussion will stay on top of the forum, so the more comments there are the more comments it will keep getting.

That's just how social media is. You make a good, fair point without talking smack, and nobody cares.
You have to remember that whilst this is an 18+ game, most of the players who visit the forums are likely children. You can tell based on how they interact with others as they have very limited social skills and will personally insult anyone that politely disagrees with them. I've lost track of the amount of threads I've seen that go something like "BHVR doesn't care about us and they only care about the other side", and "My side takes skill but the other side doesn't".
There's no reasoning with people like that. The best you can do is swat them down with a rolled up newspaper and hope they go away.

People disagreeing with a suggestion isn't going to make it disappear, BHVR will still see it if they were going to anyway. But it does show that there are multiple opinions on the matter. Just because someone's made a suggestion doesn't mean it's a good suggestion, or a popular one, and that feedback is just as important.

The DBD forums aren't really a echo chamber type of community where you'll only see like-minded opinions and support.
If someone makes a post like "Nurse is the strongest killer in the game." people aren't really going to interact all that much. People know Nurse is the strongest and there's no need to echo that statement any further. In fact it's sometimes the opposite in that people might get annoyed that the obvious keeps getting brought up.
If someone makes a post saying "Nurse is the worst the killer in the game." then you'll have more people commenting because now there is something to talk about.
Finally if someone makes a post saying "Get gud scrubs I won 100 games in a row with no slowdown scratched mirror Myers." you'll probably have a ton of interaction for various reasons.

This isn´t a DbD community thing. But more a internet thing.
There even exists a name for it, which i have totally forgotten. So i just call it Darvins Law, in the hope that someone will correct me.
Anyway, the theory is that, whenever you have a question. Best thing to get the right answer isn´t to ask the question, but make a false statement and wait for someone to correct you. Because the urge to correct someone is stronger than the urge to help.
Which kinda applies to this forum aswell. So if you make a controversial statement, like for example: "MfT was buffed*" you´ll get a ton of feedback from people telling you how wrong you are, with great examples. Thats the reason why controversial threads get so much attention.
*disclaimer, the "MfT was buffed" statement was just an example. I have no intention to start a discussion about this and wish everyone a wonderful evening.

Agreeing is not an interesting interaction.

Agree.
That is more of a general thing these days.
Older people may remember that it always was pretty normal that people have different opinions on everything. And you could talk to people with other opinions - you did not need to agree. You also could discuss something and maybe change your mind.
I see that less and less nowadys.
A lot think that there are right and wrong opinions, which will forever be subjective.

if something is obviously broken and needs fixing, nobody is gonna bother arguing against you. if something is not broken but you claim it is, people will fight that incorrect claim

I’ve noticed this too. I’ve forgotten the name of this phenomenon as well but because I know it as a concept I have conditioned myself to say yes more than I say no. It’s easy to say no, but it takes creative effort to say yes and to expand or corroborate another person’s ideas.

"Cunningham's Law" is what you're talking about, I'm pretty sure. And it sure seems to be pretty effective to put it into practice.
I sure know that if someone makes it seem like they're certain about something I know is wrong, I'll be real tempted to reply 😄

An opinion which provokes a stronger reaction is more likely to foster a larger response. Some people also enjoy trolling or even being trolled to a degree. Plus, if everyone agrees it would make a rather bland string of comments.
People do like drama, sadly. It's why a lot of reality shows seem to be so popular, despite them being horseshit.

Humans love to tell others they are wrong, especially over the internet. If you want more interaction your best bet is either rage-bait or asking for people to weigh in with their opinions
