Console only crossplay
There should be an option for console only cross play. When you are at a higher level the PC advantage is ridiculous.

While I'd like this option as well, it isn't feasible.
Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, so queue times for PC players would soar. However most of the killers are on PC, so surv queue times on console would also suffer.
Also the main reason in adding in CrossPlay in the first place was to unite the playerbase, not divide it.

People need to stop acting like playing killer/survivor on console is like having your kneecaps broken prior to the match starting. It's not as good as on PC but it's not bad at all. I can play Nurse on console with no problems, and others can play killers like Blight and Oni whilst still being able to utilise their most advanced tech. I can 360 as survivor and even moonwalk sometimes.
If people want BHVR to try and further improve controls on console, that's great. But stop acting like the gap in accessibility between mouse and keyboard, and controllers is completely insurmountable. It's not. This reminds me of the people who said I'd need hundreds of hours of practice to get a 1K as Nurse. The challenge is grossly overstated.

There's a huge difference between skill advantage and mechanical advantages
1 -
Its not really an issue until it gets to higher skill. Then it is because every mistep on either side can be brutal.

Thats why it should be an option, I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer to ensure a better game.

DBD is not that serious of a game that the advantages of PC matter in the grand scheme of things.

A couple of dev Q&A sessions back and in one of the recent surveys they asked whether we'd prefer faster queue times or stricter MRR matches. The community overwhelmingly voted for the faster queues, which is why the lobby shopping/backfilling problem has been so impactful.

This.
Playing as a surv with a controller is for the most part not too different than with a M&K. Swinging the camera around to me feels sluggish and unnatural af.
The big noticable differences come when playing some of the killers. The limitations of using a controller do make some rough to run, and one or two currently are unplayable imo. However the rest of the killers absolutely can be played effectively and well on console, just takes more time to "git gud" with them.
Now when we're talking game/coding performance issues, the differences couldn't be more stark. Especially with something like half of all consolers still on the older machines worldwide.

About your last comment, do you think BHVR should stop support on the old gen consoles in early 2024 and only focus on PC and the new gen consoles? (PS5/Xbox Series X)

So a huge frame rate difference and doing simple mechanics like 360'ing on PC isn't easier hm lol.
1 -
Oh no, you got me, hm lol.
I was responding to a thread that wants matchmaking to be changed so PC users (most of the playerbase) can be excluded because their advantages are too great. I never said there wasn't a difference. Simply that the difference isn't enough to warrant changing matchmaking.

imagine actually thinking pc players are all good and you needing crossplay options to dodge them. Some of the better killers I've faced were console players.

"People need to stop acting like playing killer/survivor on console is like having your kneecaps broken prior to the match starting"
And I was responding to this exact statement of yours because it simply isn't true, there is a huge difference between PC and Console. This particular discussion has been ongoing for years across multiple games, nothing will change the argument until Console can achieve 240+ frames at the bear minimum. Specs alone are just the easiest to point out. I do wish there were more Console killers but I know that will never happen with how easy it is on PC, a simple example of differentiation is 360'ing.
Also, if most of the playerbase is on PC then there would literally be no difference at all in queue times, maybe a few seconds at the most. I for one wouldn't be turning off crossplay even if the change was added (despite how much more challenging it is), I'm also sure the casual player wouldn't care to either. I will say though, I have a hell of a lot easier time when it comes to playing against console players vs PC players and it's usually a lot easier to spot a Console player too.
I would also like to add, I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of in-game/post game chat to be added on console so we can communicate with PC players. Even an external app for both platforms to download on their phones & PC and communicate with each other would be cool. It could also be used to monitor the toxicity of players easily too.

I'm a PC killer main that 4ks virtually every match. As long as you are getting 60 fps, you're good. I recently swapped to 60 fps since my Display Port cable broke and it made 0 difference to my gameplay. FPS is literally only important for skill checks.

I'd get frames down around the teens within the center room of Lery's on my ol' venerable Xbox1. ππ€£

I play pc and wouldn't mind this whatsoever, having an advantage over someone is pretty damn lame anyways. Let the long queues begin.
0 -
Nah it's just fine. If you don't like play against PC players, you just can disable it.
0 -
PC Players were fine before crossplay was a thing. If you really feel that you are at a disadvantage, then disable crossplay.
0 -
I tried, waited 20 minutes and no game.
1 -
you said one or two are nearly unplayable... can i ask who do you mean because i'm a console player and mainly killer main, i play every killer sometimes but i dont think that a singel one is unplayable
0 -
Well, then you need to choose: do you want a quick game or do you want a (in your eyes) "fair" match? You can't get both.
0 -
At the moment I consider Trickster and maybe Singularity just impossible to run effectively, no matter the amount of practice.
Trickster thankfully is getting his recoil removed, so we'll have to see about him. Singularity is a struggle because even at max sensitivity his aiming with the camera feels sluggish and unnatural to land hits consistently.

I think it has to do with how their CrossPlay works.
With it switched off you only get matched with others just on your own platform who also have it switched off. So for example someone on PS4 who turns off CrossPlay will now only get matched with others on PS4 who also turned it off. Not with anyone on PS5 or any Xbox players or Steam/Epic or Switch, even if they too have CrossPlay off as well. Small pool of players indeed.

Huntress, hux, trickster, and legion are no where near there PC skill roof.
1 -
I would gladly sacrifice the quick for the fair.
0 -
But you can't have that now. It is how it is.
If we are talking about matchmaking in general, then yes, I would also prefer fair matchmaking instead of fast one.
0 -
Well i know how it is works. If they don't like to play against PC players, they cab disable it. Crossplay between only consoles will never happen, this could effect queues so much
0 -
Yes I realize the harm to queues it would likely cause, and said so above.
0 -
With Huntress i must disagree, okay you maybe can't do such flicks on Console but the rest i can do the same like on PC, only Trickster i think is a problem but after the Update on 28. that also shouldn't be a problem. but what is Legion doing on your list? Legion isn't hard on any plattform?
0 -
Lol, show me the pro of ANY killer on console. Its not fair that there is an artificial divide by hardware, unless they want to let everyone use a keyboard and mouse. There are huntresses on pc that hit across the map. There are legions who hit and flick to dodge, impossible on console. Legion is easy, but its bs the top skill cap is hardware and they aren't doing anything about it
0 -
That is how it is, but that doesn't mean its the best way
0 -
The Huntress cross maps or orbitals are also possible on console.
It is basically: look out for when the Gen aura changes, go a bit further, then look straight up and do an uncharged throw. Done.
This has nothing to do with a controller.
You also just complain about something so you can complain.
The only disadvantage I see is that some buttons are bound to multiple actions like heal/Pallet drop.
0 -
thats what i also wanted to say but theres allways peaple that complain about things because THEY can't do it. I feel the Point with with the multiple actions on one button but you can change the buttons the way that heal and pallet drop are different.

I would really love to opt out of matchmaking against PC players because of the increased likelihood of facing cheaters from that platform.
Just had a match on Midwich (they used the offering for it), where I did nearly 2 loops around the entire map and not a single gen had any progress. Then bam! A gen I recently patrolled was already done. I assumed all 4 were on it and went over. Didn't find a single survivor.
I found a survivor while patrolling the next gen, and after 50 seconds of chase 3 more gens popped. I was at 1 gen remaining when I got my first injury of the match.
I opened the gates myself and went around breaking walls as soon as they popped the last one. Then spent 2 minutes ignoring them while they tried to milk blooodpoints out of me.
In the end-screen, they had no gen rush perks and only 1 yellow toolbox with some addons. I don't know which platform they were on (the game doesn't specify), but they were'nt on Xbox.
1 -
I've disabled crossplay before, a couple months back. I gave up waiting in queue after an hour for survivor. Gave up after 40 minutes in queue for killer. Turned crossplay back on and haven't turned it off since. π
2 -
That happens because you are only matched with others who have it off.
0 -
I also face cheaters and I play on steam. Just because you play on console you are not entitled to get a console only crossplay so you get less cheaters. Either BHVR does something against them or all players have to deal with them. No special care for anyone.
Btw: cheaters can also unlock crossplay and be matched with you anyway. They just trick the system.

Isn't there an option for console only crossplay but only on your own console type
1 -
I too agree with turning off crossplay between console and pc. I am a pc player for reference
1 -
Why would a player on PC not want to get close sole peeps in their games?
0 -
Because they are often having trouble with the controls (one button has 2 or 3 interactions bound to it) which can be detrimental and often have bad ping too.
Just 2 examples of what I heard people say. Not necessarily my opinion.
0 -
(: I just don't.
0 -
We do have one but as soon as you turn the option off your never gonna get a match iβve tried during the most populous gaming hours and it never happens
i think it should just prepopulate the lobbies when this option is on and keep people with consoles in that lobby till itβs full. I know this would likely cause queue times to increase but i truly think it would only be a noticeable increase when no one is playing at that time.
