With Blight add-ons getting a rework soon, can we expect hugtech(exploit/bug) to be removed/fixed?
Title, since they will rework all the add-ons they might as well fix his "features" that aren't meant to be, cna it be expected to be fixed?

i hope so considering the survivor vault to cancel stagger tech was nerfed and is no longer viable, cant even drop a pallet whilst mid stagger so would be unfair to leave one as is and nerf the other.

Considering Chucky can do the same kind of stuff... I doubt it.

Did BVHR confirm the "hugtech" was a glitch / exploit?

yes

Built in feature and unintended interactions are different, blight SLAM walls, he doesn't hug them, chucky can because they made it that way.
3 -
I was under the impression Chucky would run straight into the wall without sliding unless the player performed the hug tech. I haven't played Chucky though, so I'm only judging off videos. If that's not the case, then hopefully they'll adress it.
1 -
No his interaction works like Oni, it doesn't stop him from running.
0 -
Ah, well I do know Oni. Makes sense.
1 -
A slide mechanic was added in on purpose.
I doubt the hug tech is going anywhere. None of the devs have touched on the topic in over a year. Wish they’d just speak up on it already so we can again, stop talking about this.
5 -
I expected you to show up lmao, they confirmed it was a bug and since they are reworking the add-ons it's safe to assume they will remove this bug,
4 -
I wouldn’t be so sure. Lol
Mandy said that a LONG time ago. Unintended things get added into the games alllll the time. Perhaps they changed their minds… perhaps they don’t know how to fix it without breaking blight.. etc.
They are usually pretty transparent on things they are “fixing”. It’s been complete radio silence on this.
5 -
that's very true, but it makes Blight more broken when without it he's actually balanced.
2 -
Not necessarily true. I would argue the opposite. If they are able to fix it, and they couldn’t do it without fixing his collision in the first place, then it would make his bump logic stronger (which is already objectively more consistent than going for a hug tech). Hug techs really only help on short filler pallets, and rush mitigation.
There is a lot of counterplay to the hug tech in that it’s easy to predict, identify, and react to as long as you don’t sit there and wait.
7 -
Incoming that Blight would somehow be stronger without hug tech lol. This game is kind of a joke at this point.
1 -
why people want all killers weak or unplayable?
1 -
"There's a lot of counterplay" always been a excuse used by ALL hugtech users, you included, there is not, play killer and 4 survivors clones of yourself and I am sure you'll lose as survivor, there is 0 counterplay to hugtech and never will be, the counter to blight is what hugtech literally ignore, this is why it must be patches.
9 -
unplayable???????? even without it he is strong, it makes him broken, he is a strong killer AND balanced if you ignore the add-ons, hugtech is simply a broken and unintended mechanic and must be patched.
3 -
he will be weaker yes because a unintended bug will be removed, but even without it he is strong, blight kill rate will BARELY go down with this bug removed.
1 -
If they address Hugtech while looking at Blight, then they need to do so for Wesker too.
2 -
Saying the hug tech has no counter play essentially equates your knowledge and stake in any conversation here to 0. Especially when you reply to a comment explaining what it's most practical uses are met with "it has no counter play".
You watch literal any high level blight who is try harding and they are going to be rarely hug teching, doesn't matter if it's comp or a streamer going all out. You go against a new blight and they will sit there at a car or loop messing it up 5 times in a row. You go against a human blight not doing everything to win and he will try to incorporate it into gameplay as much as possible because it's fun feels immensely fluid.
Not to say it doesn't have it's objectively good uses as HTL said but it's not winning people matches like you think. It helps blight play already killler sided filler tiles, rush mitigation for traversal of the map in an optimal way and making a tile that is unplayable for blight potentially playable.
I swear people think " This blight just bumped into a pallet and sat there for nearly an entire second while I couldn't see his red stain, I should stay here because he definitely isn't going to hug tech towards me" or sit on the other side of a car pallet tile like they would vs an m1 killer.
But hey go off man, you definitely know what you are talking about and not just talking bs.

I am very far from an expert with Blight, so please educate me some.
I've messed around with Blight in the past, after McLean worked his final magic & Blight was playable on console. Since then I've tried various so-called techs with him, but invariably failed miserably and end up swinging at thin air if I'm not stopped cold on nothing. I just can't swing the camera around fast enough with the sticks, let alone the character himself, to accomplish much.
Even at max sensitivity the dead zones and sluggish acceleration make it all feel like struggling against quicksand to me, like I'm fighting with the controller. Feels like a half-second delay to overcome no momentum, very unresponsive to me. I'm not sure I'm describing any of this effectively, sorry if I'm not.
Do you have any experience with him on a controller?

No, they don't.
Blight's hug-tech is confirmed to being bug but Chucky and Wesker never called bug.
1 -
Chucky's ability to slide off walls is intentional though, and more in line with Oni than anything. Blight's Hug Tech is confirmed to be an exploit.
1 -
Yes, I do hope for a rework on the Blight's add-ons. Maybe some of that overpoweredness can be transferred over to Nemesis's add-ons.
1 -
That is a VERY good question lol

I feel your pain. I started on console, and I really, REALLY wish they would add M&K support for you guys.
Blight, like many other killers, is much harder on controller as you’re experiencing, but you CAN be good.
This video by Lilith showcases it perfectly. https://youtu.be/-JYH6Ewbv_s?si=JjHdgV0ZynVjJYap
I hope this helps!! Blight is very rewarding and fun once you get past the learning curve.

I don't agree sorry, not when they can do stuff like this.

I appreciate the feedback, ty.
Trying very hard not to think what tf our precious Switch cousins are attempting to do with a Blight, on either side! 🤪😂

The Hug tech issue is mostly a map collision issue itself. even pig can dash on several basement walls without getting any detection.

Unintended things sometimes become/are embraced as features by the devs. Best example probably being Trap Buffering
This is when a Survivor starts disarming a trap to make it so another Survivor go through it unharmed. This was acknowledged as a bug and was actually patched in late 2016 or early 2017 (drawing a blank here)
When Trapper got his rework in mid 2018, they actually talked about Trap Buffering in a livestream. They mentioned how it encouraged teamplay and it also reduced his effectiveness at camping, so they reintroduced it as a feature.
4 -
accepting it and saying it's a unintended bug is different, also the big part was when you'd place a trap under a hooked survivor and the unhook would take priority over the trap action, so once the unhooked survivor is unhooked they cna hold M1 instantly even when the animation wasn't over to save the unhooker from being trapped, that was the bug about it.

The roadmap specifically said blight's add-ons, so I don't think we'll be seeing any changes to his basekit. Of course, things can change and nothing is set in stone, but as of right now it doesn't seem like they plan on touching his basekit.
0 -
I hope they don’t touch it tbh. It feels quite unnecessary to change when Blight’s problem has mainly been his addons. It would be like Billy all over again.
0 -
Whats wrong with this?
0 -
Thats not trap buffering, thats something completely unrelated
1 -
I hope that while they nerf the Blight's addons, they make him easier to play. I'm learning Blight, but i think his skill floor is quite high for newer players.
0 -
that's called git gud, but in all seriousness all killers aren't meant to be easy to use, some will be harder than others and it's fine.
0 -
Run STBFL Blight, only using M2 for Mobility and Pallet Breaks. Heck, do it without STBFL. Heck, do it without Pallet Breaks too. Even then, he is still probably in the top half only using M2 for Mobility alone.
As far as his add-ons, I hope they model all of his add-ons off of his Purple non Alch-Ring add-ons. Those are all very fun and well designed, without just turning him into a 'win-more' machine with speed or insta-pallet destruction or token regen.
1 -
That defeats the fun of blight. Who the hell wants to play m1 blight?
0 -
i hope so
3 -
Hopefully
2 -
My assertion was that Blight's raw Mobility is strong enough to put him in the top half of Killers, and that nerfing his add-ons or power in any way wouldn't make him "weak or unplayable".
1 -
Honestly they need to fix hug teching like with wesker it’s impressive but with blight it’s just so cringe like easy to pull off every Blight does it and just gives them cheesy downs that aren’t intended I can’t wait till they absolutely gut his add ons tho
1 -
Yeah, i know, but i wish it was more acessible. I can do fine with Blight most of the times, but i think for newer players he is a not interesting character. Since he is going to be nerfed, i don't see a problem with a small buff or quality of life.
