What should be the Lore reason for AFC?

I think the AFC was a huge success, and a great feature. It doesn't affect vast majority of killer interactions with defending hooks, and camping hooks is still viable when really needed... but it does stop the most agregious, boring and oppressive cases of Face Camping, opening up minor windows for survivors to play around or make trades, generally making the game more engaging for all.

On the rare case it has proceed for me, the basekit 15s of BT it grants was great, as I was able to get to a pallet and force the killer to attack, or eat a pallet stun, also punishing the attempted tunnel off hook.

It all naturally encourages killers to seek other survivors, as you can camp, but if you mess it up it can backfire in a big way. However one thing that I feel is a problem with the AFC, is a brand new player doesn't get a hint what is happening... the survivor (to my knowledge) just unhooks, and its unclear why.

I feel like a score event (maybe even a score penalty?) would be great to explain what is happening... but as I think about it... what would it say? You can't say "Face Camping Penalty"... it's took game centric terminology.

This got me thinking about the logic of the AFC in general... and calling it the Anti-Face Camp mechanic is pretty unsatisfactory lore wise. As far as I am aware (pls do correct me) the purpose of the Entity is to feed on the fear and smashed hope of survivors that get sacrificed to it from the trial...

One could argue that enforcing that sacrifice is serving the entity... but this means the AFC kinda contradicts the goal.

What wpuld be the lore explanation for the AFC and how would we translate to new players?

My immediate thought is that survivors closer to escape feel greater despair and fear than those who have succumbed to their fate as a result of being face camped on the hook... thus the entity rejects them in pursuit of a greater meal...

What the heck you'd call that in a score event/game effect though eludes me... something like:

    • Sacrifice Rejection?
    • Entity Hook Interference?
    • Insufficient Sacrifice Fear?

Can't think of something catchy and meaningful... 🤔🤔🤔

Well, the Entity feeds off hope just as much as it does other emotions. The trials exist get as much emotion as possible out of the Survivors before they're empty.

Having a Bubba stand in your face certainly doesn't give you any hope you're gonna get off that hook.

There are some things that dont make sense lore wise just for the sake of gameplay and AFC is one of them. Its kind of a boring answer but really I dont think theres any other reason

The entity gets bored watching it's killer watch the hooked survivors face and grants the luck to swing off the hook

It may be a punishment from the Entity to the Killer, whom feels too comfortable when it should be feeling some form of tenseness within the trials or causing emotion. The other Survivors may feel safe to dp gens and the emotions aren't there. So the Entity decides to give the Survivor that edge, causing uncertainty and anxiousness in the Killer.

Basically, during a trial everyone should be on edge - maybe with the exception of the Executioner, although Pyramid Head is basically made of emotion in some respects, so there's yummies to be had there.

Since the entity feeds on strong emotions, I suppose ignoring the other 3 while the killer camps one survivor means the entity is missing out on the emotions of the other 3 survivors

    Hmmmmmmmmmmm... a few good points.

Maybe just a condition that indicates "Entity Apathy" or something similar, that appears as a warning to the killer to desist their current action due to Entity boredom?

Ofc... I have been having snowball fights a lot lately... so I am not sure how that ties in 😅

The Entity wants the killer to 'play the game'. The entity sent in the killer to hunt. It feeds off the pain and thrills of the match. It doesn't actually want or not want the survivors sacrificed, it wants the game. AFC is the entity saying 'I don't like how you do this'.

In ways, its like blocking windows after too many vaults. The entity says to the survivor 'I'm bored, go do something else.'
