Hatch mechanic is toxic and should be removed/reworked
In my opinion, hatch is a toxic mechanic that makes playing dbd not as enjoyable.
- It makes two last survivors to just stealth instead of repairing gens. How many times killer chased you for long enough time to repair gen, but instead last survivor stealthed waiting for you to fall down and be hooked? Same problem for the killer, usually if there is two survivors left you are just playing game of hide and seek, because none of them repair gens. IMO its not really enjoyable.
- Endgame slugging, when killer doesnt hook survivor because he wants to do -4. Its never enjoyable to just sit there for addition 5 minutes just because killer wants -4.
Of course, hatch creates its bright moments and cool highlights, and greatly evolved from what it was previously. But its still unhealthy mechanic that causes toxic and unenjoyable gameplay from both survivors and killers.

And what is solution?
If they remove hatch, how killer will finish the game when only one survivor left? What will stop them to hide and waste killer's time

I suggest fixing it by making it not exclusive, and instead making it show up when the number of gens remaining is equal to, or less than the number of killed survivors. That'll fix lone-wolfing.

As practice shows devs create their own solutions instead of taking things suggested by community, so im just showing a problem.
Nothing stops them, but at least last two survivors will try to play a game and repair gens instead of hiding. Im thinking of something like passive sole survivor which activates when there is 2 survivors left(doesnt work for 3), but as i said solution itself i up to devs.

If you think hide and seek is bad with hatch you should have tried the game without it. Oh boy that 4 mins bleed out timer will seem like a dream come true compared to the 30 min+ hostage situation of hiding survivors and no hatch.
Hatch and bleeding out are the mechanics that counter the very thing you are complaining about.

same can be said for 3-genning, tunneling, camping, etc... but we are getting "solutions" for those problems from devs for some reason.

I'm fine with the hatch as it is. There must be a chance for the last survivor to escape.
Although I do wish they had left the hatch grabs in when they made the changes.

Hatch grabs are still in the game if I remember correctly-

Nope, sadly they aren't.
Trust me, I tried.

they said 3-gen "solution" is coming, and we had basekit borrowed time added to survivors. If you dont have to do this, that doesnt mean this is isnt a problem. Why are they fixing facecamp if its player decision to facecamp or not? Because its a problem, just like a hatch.

hatch grabs are gone as are grabbing off hook saves.

this "chance" is just killer being too bored to slug for -4. If killer wants -4, he will get it because no way you wont find survivor until slugged person bleeds out, this happens very rarely.

And why do you think those survivors hiding? Hatch is a cause of hiding problem. There is NO reason for survivor to just stealth and not repairing anything if hatch removed.

Just as, if not more, important is that it's also a way to force a match to end in a timely fashion, which prevents hide and seek situations and taking the game hostage as much as possible.
Not sure if serious, since this is pretty much exactly how hatch used to work in previous versions, though you needed a key to open it unless there was one survivor left, at which point it opened as normal.

I love the Hatch mechanic, but I see where OP is coming from when there's 2 Survivors left. I always offer myself as the sacrifice.
I set my item down in front of the other Survivor and signal for them to hide. Then, I go intentionally run into the Killer.

To be fair even without hatch, if there's only two survivors left and they know they can't fix the gens they'll just hide anyway. What else is there to do at that point?

These solutions are really minor if you think about it.
By now most killer that tunnel know how to play around the basekit BT and with DS nerfed tunneling is still the strongest method to win as killer.
And AFC is so laughably easy to avoid that it might well not even exist at this point.
If the new 3-gen solution is on the same as the AFC system, it will probably be something really weak.

If they're going to tackle 3 gen stalling then they should add some mechanic when it's only two left to guarantee matches don't go on 10 more minutes because people are living inside a bush edge map. If there are only two survs left independently if they don't spend x amount of time progressing gens over a minute or two the killer can see killer instinct on them. This forces them to actually attempt to do something instead of baiting their team while not playing.

repair gen and chase with killer? as i said there is no reason to just stealth. Now there are reason as it gives you escape which is ultimate goal of every survivor game.

But if they KNOW they have no realistic way of winning then they're probably still gonna just hide. Getting rid of hatch isn't going to stop people just hiding for ages.
Heck, even if you kill one of them and there's only one survivor left, what's to stop them just continuing to hide and keeping the game hostage?

Hell, what he's proposing would make 1-hour games common since Killers would spend an hour searching for the last.
Sure the killrates will go up due to the Entity auto-sacrificing the Survivors after 1 hour, probably making the devs nerf Killers in response to the sudden rise in 4ks.
If any mechanic is added to prevent endgame slugging/trolling, then it can only be two ways;
1: Only 2 Survivors remain and one is slugged; the slugged Survivor can either insta-die or fully recover after 60 seconds (ONLY when 2 are left to make the Killer end the game and prevent trolling but without giving basekit UB to everyone). If the Survivor wants to try to give Hatch if left on the ground they insta-die, if the Killer slugs but there's only 1 gen left/the doors are powered then they can try to get up if they want to try for a comeback.
2: If every remaining Survivors are downed/hooked, the Survivors can choose to insta-die to go next, the game is already lost anyway and if people aren't going to hope and try for a comeback they shouldn't be forced to wait 4 minutes while the Killer walks over their bodies.
Hatch needs to stay, endgame trolling and time-wasting needs to go. Not getting the 4k isn't the end of the world and the Hatch doesn't even count as an escape for MMR purposes.

what? for what? They get no bloodpoints. OF COURSE there are trolls, but if you are gaining nothing from it, number of people stealthing will reduce drastically. As i said im just proposing a existing problem of hatch mechanic, which is toxic, and makes people to just stealth, abandom their teammates, or slug in case of a killer.

I mean they don't get much bp even if they start doing gens and immediatly get found and killed. Like if there's no hope of actually completing the gens, many players wont do the gens, they'll just hide. That seems pretty obvious, it's suicide if they actually do the gens.

Lol no reason?... sure there is. Krazzik pointed it out, below.
Players will do just about anything to avoid being eliminated. I mean that's the game to avoid being eliminated.
So without hatch players tended to hide and with no avenue of escape beyond the gates, which can't be opened, then the last two survivors would hide until found or the killer got bored and DC'd. Hatch isn't the cause of this its the counter to it.
