Anyone else facing absolute tryhards?
The entire time I've been playing today, each killer has hard/turbo tunneled each survivor out of the game. They proximity camp and immediately disregard the unhooker to tunnel. Once it comes to a two person situation, they just slug the other survivor and stand right on top of them and I was forced to just wait four entire minutes because the killer needs to get their 4k that desperately. One had a mori so I just died by endgame timer running out to deny them the satisfaction which resulted in them pretending to hump me as I was getting sacrificed. They nearly bled the other survivor out then mori'd them and had the audacity to say gg. My teammates are far from my MMR and the killers' which also doesn't help a bit, I've faced Wesker, two nurses, and a huntress and their playstyle was literally just doing that at five generators. No provocation.
I'm loving the double XP and BP!

This is just standard DBD atm. It’s not every match and some days are better than others but this is often the case.
depending on your team they will only get 1-2k or at least that’s become standard with my MMR.

I mean its the same as killer at the moment. I get many swfs sometimes containing out of 1-3 p100s with bnps and a ton of second-chance/gen-speed perks, they like to bring ormount, eyries, garden of pain or rpd mostly.
Could be because of the bloodhunt in combination with SBMM i guess.

The matchmaking is always random for me. Earlier I was matched with a 6000+ hour deathslinger and a 5200 hour P100 ghostface. Then afterwards I got a hag and a pig who played like they just installed the game. It just goes from one extreme to the other. I often wonder if this game even has matchmaking at this point.

Yes and yes. Same on both sides. Don't really blame anyone. Every other game is a sweat fest and you never really know what to expect from match to match. Could be chill or it could be a comp scrim. No way of knowing beforehand, but it sucks to lose because the other side was trying harder.

Its the sad part of the game, which is why MMR has to be a thing. Your skill doesnt matter much when the ability to stack meta can overlap the skill. I believe a Trapper with iri addons, stack 4 slowdown and tunneling is stronger than Blight without addon, using meme perks and play it fair.
I dont think the mindset of wanting to win so hard making the game sweat fest. But that mindset combined with meta stacking make it feel like so.
When 1 side have the mindset plus stacking meta. If you either try hard but use meme build; or use meta but not try hard...may make you lose the game (assume both side have equal skill)

I’ve played one game this year. It turned out to be against a 4 man bully squad running headon among other mess. It goes both ways.

Similar experience on killer:
3 to 4man swf (asked them and they said yes), one or two syringes and one or two bnp, map offerings for McMillan, coldwind, ormond and Garden of joy on top of strong items and the same 8 perks every game.
People just like to win I guess?

Classic double bp event in dbd
You bring cake for everyone just to get turbo tunneled by sweaty nurse with mori and after several shitty games like that, you start to use only personal bp offerings like everyone else.
Times like these makes me wonder if I shouldnt start playing in swf finally and get some bp

Yeah. Since early december my matches on killer have become a lot harder. Survivor feels about the same for me. I'm not playing much because the effort to win is not worth it anymore. Before this though matches were too easy, so it's not good either way really. I'm just waiting for Alan Wake and the Rift to come out so i can focus on that.

When I play as Killer I get the Black Ops Squad
When I play Survivor I get the trained assassin and the footsoldier Survivors.
It gets worse the more events that occur.

Honestly, when playing as killer, it seems there are far more sweaty matches than usual. DbD always had a bit of a randomness where you never knew if you would face a chill match, an extremely easy match, a fun but challenging match or a ridiculously stressful match where survivors play almost flawlessly, do gens in the most fast and efficient way possible and also bring the strongest stuff they can, the best perks, BNPs, Syringes, Styptics and even map offerings. Well, the last one is happening almost all the time recently, and I think it's happening due to the matchmaking changes that made it more strict to MMRs close to yours.

No it's not usually like this for me. These people were playing as if they had money on the line and 4k'ing every single time because my solo queue team can't handle the pressure. I only had a two escape vs the Wesker because I got a flashbang save and then sacrificed myself to let the two others free...

The meta stacking is a good point. The meta in DbD is overwhelmingly stronger than a casual build or playstyle. It's hard to draw a direct comparison to other games because DbD doesn't have a competitive queue, but the meta power difference in DbD seems notable to me. I don't feel that in other games even through mid-rank competitive queues. In DbD, you have to be so much more skilled than a meta opponent to win with off-meta.

Give it a few days. Might just be cos it's reset week. I havent played since before reset but I know it's generally like that.

Probably people trying to get to iri 1 as fast as possible and then they can stop tryharding

It's the last playstyle for killers that really works. They got healing nerfed, boons nerfed, hexes are all trash. Past a certain mmr the only way to get any progress or have any pressure at all is to tunnel a survivor out. That bleeds down, and now every killer tunnels because that's what works
0 -
So healing and boons were nerfed, hexes were untouched but now this means tunneling is more warranted? Just because survivor is so weak nw why not right?

Survivor is weak?

Whoever brings the stronger stuff wins. That's one of the base rules of dbd right now.
I'm not a fan.

Yeah I switched to killer since the matchmaking for survivors was tragic and I literally had no chance of winning even when I kept mistakes to a minimum. Literally felt like my MMR increased to some comp level and it was like that the entire time even though usually I get some odd games here and there.
Tried playing Trapper and immediately got Eyrie of Crows so that was awesome...

You win an easy game and then just stare at the screen realising what's to come lmao... Hate that feeling.

I'd respect it if trying harder didn't mean bleeding people out for a silly 4k and wasting four minutes after hard tunneling at five gens on a solo queue team. If matchmaking was a bit better there'd be some room to breathe because, after all, tunneling is just a strategy that gets countered by teamwork which ceases to exist in solo queue.

Wish MMR actually worked properly and wasn't the worst matchmaking I've ever experienced on any game I've laid my hands on.

My solo queue lobbies at any slight inconvenience:

100%. I also went through that after writing the post so I was going to edit it today but I wasn't expecting so much replies basically summarizing my experiences.
0 -
Sure, but at five gens? My solo queue team can't handle any sort of pressure and I'm usually the last one alive at three gens remaining when it happens.
0 -
Never liked to win as much as they did yesterday. Solo queue was hell on earth on my servers...
But yeah the killer experience was also rough. My MMR felt like it increased for no reason.
0 -
I need to get some friends online because solo queue is simply tragic.
1 -
My MM means that I have to try hard to win 🤷♂️
I litterally have to sweat to win matches....

It's rank resweat week so a lot of people are out there busting their nut to get their lips back.
0 -
If killers can't instant down, or sneak up on survivors, what are their options? How do they pressure every gen simultaneously? They have zero power plays with all the survivor second chance perks. It's the only viable strategy for the majority of the roster
0 -
It's the only thing that works in high mmr. Which killers hit fast with just a bit of skill. A few solo q games in a row and boom, game thinks you're a god. Killers get stomped back down and take the toxicity with them, because that's what they needed last game
0 -
It is the modern DBD experience, sadly.
That is why MMR has to be scrapped. It is causing far more harm than good.
4 -
No, it's just really rough in general. If you don't have a specific killer main you're super good with, 1-2 kills is a really good spot. Keep grinding and results will show!

I’d say that’s partly due to the mmr changes and the fact that it’s the only strategies killers have left vs a strong team. A team that just sits on gens and is also at least decent at looping will not give you nearly enough time for a 12 hook game.
Tunneling, camping, occasional slugging, three gens, these are all things that are done in comp dbd because it’s shown to be the only effective hope of winning vs a team that’s as strong as you are on killer. The difference is that the objective speed for survivor is ridiculously faster than the objective speed for killer.
So imo until they make changes to the overall safety of tiles, the gen speed, the map size, or add a secondary objective for survivors killers will continue to be inclined to play this way. Well either that or they just continue nerfing everything that the killer has to actually have a chance to win vs a strong team because “it’s not fun for survivors” until the killer is just complete bully food against a competent four man.

Well my solo queue team is far from strong and I'm usually the only one left with 2-3 gens remaining. They tunnel automatically and I don't see the fun in that especially when they are guaranteed a 3k. The personality has been swept away from them.

I've gone through Trapper, Deathslinger, Blight, Pyramid Head, and Wesker. I'm now onto Spirit so it's pretty fun.

I don't understand this concept. I play Killer easy during rank reset week because pips are so easy for ash and Bronze. Why make it harder on themselves later?

And that’s where part of the problem lies as well, the massive gap that exists between solo que and swf. They refuse to address swf, I believe it was brought up recently in one of their streams.
So what is the killer more likely to do here? They can either assume it’s a solo queue squad and play fair and get absolutely demolished and teabagged at the exit gate when it does end up being a swf, or they can play to win from the jump expecting a strong team and it possibly being overkill.
Swf is one of the biggest glaring issues and why it’s so difficult to balance the game well. Solo and swf almost feels like a completely different game. They refuse to address swf, so I definitely don’t expect killers to stop playing the way they do any time soon.
You can’t address things like camping and tunneling without addressing any of the reasons that killers are doing those things. If you want to make it to where the killer can not tunnel, slug, camp, or three gen you need to make it to where they don’t need to. Simple as that.
0 -
If only my teammates reflected my MMR I'd be fine with the tunneling but that's not the case. Those fun games always give a glimmer of hope that gets extinguished the very next game where you just stare at your screen in disappointment as you hear two gens pop with one survivor injured...
0 -
Yeah it can be rough on both sides playing against tryhards, I just try to do my best and move on to the next round.
0 -
They don't need to slug someone until they nearly bleed out and pretend to hump them just to mori them and go for the 4k. I get leaving the area so I can pick up the slugged survivor but standing on top of them so it's a death wish to try? Just toxic time wasting that cannot be justified.
1 -
Yeah, as long as I get some good loops in I'm satisfied but it's just so demotivating seeing your team drop like flies. Seeing gens fly as killer also does so I'm mixing it up a bit and trying to find a main I'll spend all my time on instead of randomising.
0 -
Only thing I can completely understand is a killer slugging all game, like a huntress I had yesterday.
0 -
You’re correct, there’s no reason to be toxic to people and that’s why I never mentioned that part. Unfortunately toxic players will always exist on both sides but my argument was more so addressing the balancing issues.
