I faced a Bully Squad for the first time

I turned the game off after the match because it bothered me so much.

I have gone against friends playing together to win, which is challenging, but this was just no fun at all.

All Survivors used Boil Over, Breakout, Unbreakable and each had one other perk like Circle of Healing.

30 minutes into the game and not a single generator is completed. All they wanted to do was have me chase them, then deny me the hook.

I was able to kill one because he stepped in my trap by the basement.

After that, I just went and stood at the exit gate so they finally did the generators after I had maxed out my Hunting, Deviousness and Brutality categories. The match lasted approximately 45 minutes.

How do you deal with this?

It's one thing to be doing the generators but they ignored them for a half hour to taunt me.

Hook denial versus Trapper is really effective unfortunately. I don't see what else you could do apart from slugging everyone to death... Then again that would take a ton of time. It's why I stopped playing Trapper so regularly.

An inconvenient option would be to master Pyramid head so you can just cage survivors. Another would be to master Nurse or Blight and use a slug heavy build and keep slugging until they all bleed out- just please do do this to all survivors, just the ones who are intent at bullying you. Not all survivors play like this.

As for playing Trapper, he’s not worth playing with how fast paced the game is these days. You’re really better off playing a stronger killer. It’s not impossible to do well with him, it’s just not worth all the sweat, especially since his traps are easy to see on a lot of maps.

Most definitely. I used to get iri one with him countless times but it really wasn't worth the effort trying to make something out of him. It was frustrating to say the least and one mistake just turned the entire tide of the game for survivors. It felt rewarding for sure but in the end it cost a great deal of stress and facing a bunch of Eyrie of Crows offerings...

I have played this game over 6 years now on both sides. The best thing to do is get with a 4 man squad and do the same thing. That helped me tremendously. I used to get very stressed about all that but now I just laugh. I have seen the other side (4man) and it is hilarious. It just is. It isn't personal and the more you play against it, the better you'll be. Avoid lightborn, as there are better perks. Use perks that play to the killer's strengths, the killer that you are using.

Slug and face the wall if you are picking up. Sometimes, if I sense they are out for blood and that is often, I just down them and let them get back up. Survivors that are out for blood HATE this type of behavior and will just stand there and stare at you.

I would deal with this situation as an opportunity to learn, in order to improve future Trials with such teams.

Also, there would be a certain amount of slugging. The bleedout timer never replenishes, so as long as they're down they are eating into it. If they're not doing gens, I'd just continue that.

Unfortunately, this could take time regardless. However, at the end of the day it's all down to what makes you feel better. Even if that means disconnecting, do what you feel would help you out most. It's not like you'd be ruining the game for anyone else.

Slugging is about the best option though still a time waste if they have UB, etc, unless you're playing certain Killers.

I had a match like that pre-CoH nerf on Coal Tower (I think that's the right one) while playing a Legion with one perk (a daily). Once I realized what they were doing (fifth or so wiggle out/sabo/UB), I slugged them and went down to the stairs leading to the basement after snuffing the boons. Two of them came down to get hooked when I guess they realized I wasn't going to give them the chance to wiggle off again and pick each other up. I let the one survivor that I was pretty sure was just some rando solo Q who got tossed in with a 3 man wiggle off and go do gens. The fourth one stubbornly refused to come down off the second floor so, I left them there.

At this point, I think they just need to rework Boil Over all together. If you don't have a team and don't go for maps where you can get near guaranteed use, it's practically a useless perk that does nothing except in extremely rare situations, or it's used like you described.

I thankfully don't go against Boil Over much but it's an incredibly unhealthy perk. The idea of the perk is to make it easier to wiggle out with no help from your team, which is something the game is not balanced around happening much at all. Thankfuly it's not great at doing that in most builds but if you go down in certain places on certain maps, or if you're in a SWF running full anti-hook builds, it's just unhealthy.

I'd also argue that survivors refusing to do gens should be ban-worthy. If they legitimately didn't complete a single gen for 30 minutes that's surely against the rules and holding the game hostage.

Played against an FTP/Buckle Up + Sabo squad last night. Great fun it was bleeding them out at three gens. Most teams like this aren't especially good and are inefficient at best. They really aren't that hard to beat once you understand the most effective way to play against them. You really shouldn't shy away from games with teams like this if only because of how satisfying it is to turn the tables on them. I genuinely don't mind getting matched with teams like this. At the very least it keeps them from harassing inexperienced players.

If the survivors don't want to work gens and they just want to bully you, then my recommendation is to create a dead zone and only play them in that area. If there are no pallets or decent windows to work with then even the best survivors can't deal with a mediocre killer. Eventually the survivors will only have the choice of playing a losing game on your terms or to actually start playing the game properly and working gens. You also have the option to just quit the match or AFK until the match is over. I personally enjoy punishing overly altruistic survivors.

Best part about bully squads is they don't touch gens. They are only there to grief. Just keep em slugged til you're close to a hook.

Force them to run closer to hooks and if they have UB, just slug them over and over. Sucks but you have no other choice. Most bully squads I face are always never good in chase and only want to annoy the killer so you're already at an advantage.

Slug them all and nod as they bleedout is what I normally do.

I had a team way back using double exponential/boil over on the 3rd floor of RPD when that was still a thing. They sat up in the corner and I kept downing them over and over again; nodding all the while. They'd get up and nod back before being downed. ######### was hilarious and I got a <3 from one of them after the game.

The best part of Bully squads is that you're usually not on a time limit. No one is doing gens so you can sit back, relax and just meme around without having to worry about losing.

    I love squads like that.

    Sounds like a brutal match.

I run Iron Grasp and Lightborn on all my Killers 100% of the time just to counter bully squads like these. It can be a miserable experience to play against them and that's exactly why they do it. A team can gen rush me all day, I don't care. Because they're not trying to make me regret loading up the game. When I get a bully squad, any ideas of "playing nice" go out the window and nothing is off the table (slugging, camping, tunnelling. I'll do it whatever if it means I ruin their fun).

My go to build for Trapper is Lightborn + Iron Grasp + Agitation + Surge and I've done pretty well with it so far. With this build, they won't be able to flashy/flashbang save, body block, sabo or boil over their way out of your grasp and you are near guaranteed a hook on the survivor you're carrying or a down on any Survivor trying to body block / sabo. Plus, you've always got the option for basement plays with Agi and Iron Grasp. Most of the time, they'll realise you have a build to counter their "fun" and they'll throw the game to go next so they can bully another target.

Boil over should increase the stun time when wiggle out instead of the drop penalty.

4v1 doesnt mean 4 < 1. Both side have the strength to bully each other. Bullying is wrong on survivors part, and so do killers think only the 1 should be able to bully the 4.

What I would do: down them, eat through their Unbreakables then let them bleed out and get a coffee.

It's funny and ironic that more than half of the suggestions against this unfun playstyle is another unfun playstyle that already gets regularly complained about.

Welcome! You're officially inducted as a DBD killer now! 😁

It is very frustrating, as @LapisInfernalis and @mikewelk said, all you can really do is slug, defend the slug, and keep slugging until they're all bled out and dead.

A nice little trick on Trapper is if you want to bait out people hiding nearby, down the target and then start to place a trap on top of the survivor and cancel. It looks like you're picking them up, which might make it easier for you to spot and slug others nearby.

In general, Boil Over needs to be reworked. The Perk is rarely used in a healthy way (aka just someone bringing it to get value from it and not run a Build around it) and it results in things like upstairs Hooks being added, which are basically a second Basement. It deserves a full rework.

(Same goes for Knockout in my opinion. I almost never see this Perk just used in a normal Build with normal playstyle, almost all the time I see Knockout in a Killers loadout they use it to slug the Survivors to death... Deserves a full rework as well)

In general, both Perks are too weak to be used on their own and can be too annoying when used in a specific Build/playstyle.

Same goes for Hag, Demo, Pig and Ghostie.

It even work with Wesker. Believe me, 180ing into a survivor rushing to a save is gold.

I have no shame to use an unfun playstyle if the other side is also playing in a not fun manner.

I will usually not initiate it myself though.

Boil over should increase the stun time when wiggle out instead of the drop penalty.

I actually really like this as a rework idea for Boil Over.

"If the killer is stunned while carrying you, the stun duration is increased by X%/Y seconds"

Complimentary perk to Decisive Strike as the most obvious use. Though Flashy saves would need to be nerfed to prevent it being too much of a bully power.

I hate perks like Boil over even more so, simply because it affects console killers way more than pc. Unreal they keep it in the game like this

Stand in a corner or facing a wall if you're being bullied and don't want to play

Trust me they will get bored very quickly when they can't bully you and aren't getting chased.

Although they will pallet vault and locker open for a few minutes in a sad pathetic attempt to get you to chase them.

How do you deal with this?

Down a survivor and just stand over their body. If its clear they aren't even trying gens, just kill one off via bleedout.

When I face that kind of premades sometimes if I'm in a good mood I play and win a lot of points but if I don't want to play because I just don't want to earn point and amuse a group of friends I simply go to one exit gate and face the switch, when they notice I'm afk they usually go and repair gens quickly for leaving.

I just hop on nurse and have at it, there isn't much to be done unfortunately in your scenario :(

At least though you got one of em in the basement. This is the only case I'd say slugging is welcome. If they don't want to be hooked then I guess they want to bleed out? They earned it!

I'd turn off the game too and walk away, I do that when someone on my team mate or a killer griefs in game then stalks me outside the game. I report and go do something else, that stuff is creepy.

Also, Boil Over is way worse if you're a console player or with you play on PC but with a controller. It really messes up your movement.

    Yeah, it needs a change.

As for Knock Out, I've actually seen it being used on its own, without heavy slugging. But it was a long time ago, before the perk got buffed.

As many others have said, slug 'em. Bully Squads lose their minds when you start slugging, because you're not taking the bait anymore. I once got a bully sabo-squad who sent me to Midwich. They all had Saboteur, Boil Over, and so on. They couldn't chase to save their lives, and they were just denying me hooks by sabotaging them. Once I caught on, I just downed one and stood over them, waiting for them to bleed out. Match progress ground to a halt. They lost their minds that I wasn't playing the game. They stopped playing the objective, and took turns running up to me and T-bagging. Luckily, I was playing Ghostface, so I just T-bagged back. There's nothing they can do, because, if they do try to get their teammate back up, you can just knock them down again. Then it's a 3v1, which is more manageable.

Boil Over is probably one of the worst designed perks in the game. I've only ever used it because I didn't read the description properly and thought it made you wriggle out faster, and now I just use it when I get a stupid "Wriggle out X times" challenge. It blatantly penalizes controller players in a way no other perk or game mechanic does. Say nothing about the people who run up to a second floor and run a Flip-Flop+Boil Over combo. It's only ever used by people who are being obnoxious, or players who think they're clever by making themselves unhookable... until the killer just slugs them and they've made the game a 3v1.
