Why doesn't BHVR record that a mori has occurred when the animation starts, rather than after?
Picture the following story,
You, a killer, have decided to go for the 4k mori in a match achievement, whether it be the generic "Blood on Your Face" or Myers "Evil Incarnate". You make your plans, choose your killer, select your add-ons, and depending on the circumstances, may even put up a map offering that will give you an edge.
You spawn in, and the RNGods have weighed in your favor. After carefully making so that you can get your mori's without fear of someone escaping either via the exit or the trapdoor, you make your move.
First kill down, second and third follow shortly there after. Now you just need the last. But they're hiding, trying to wait you out until you decide to quit rather than find them. Annoying, but you won't give up, not when you are so close that you can taste the blood.
You find them, and they immediately start running and trying to lose you. They try the vaults, the pallet drops, the 360s, you name it, they try it. But it's no good, you manage to catch them. You trigger the mori animation, and the 4 second kill scene starts.
"Finally," you sigh. A job well done, a reward earned. But part way through the animation, you hear that dreaded noise, the d/c notification; and the match ends with you getting a Quitter Bonus.
But you don't want the quitter bonus. You want the 4k mori. But you're willing to try again. and again. And again. AND again. AND AGAIN. AGAINAGAINAGAINAGINAINADN!!!!!
Every time you try, there's that last toxic survivor that robs you of your reward, all because BHVR records the mori as having occurred after animation completes, rather than when it starts.
I'm tired of it.

It has to do with the Mori cancel, if they catch the ''Mori'' at the start of the animation but you don't go all the way through then it's not actually a Mori and that's cheating/exploit mistake.
But yes I agree with you, it really sucks and it's ######### up, I got mine, the normal one with Devour and I was lucky.

It wouldn’t be an issue at all if the killer’s locked into the Mori once started, there’s basically no reason to cancel a Mori other than to be toxic or go after a nearby survivor, but I figure that’s a small price to pay for this kind of fix.

They count the POINTS when the animation starts, but the actual death doesn't count until the end of the full animation. So they should count the mori as soon as the animation begins, not when it's over.

Wait, you cancel the mori after the animation starts? Like after the mori meter fills up and you go to grab the survivor, the mori can be cancelled?

no

Okay, I thought as much. Which is where I guess I want the mori to be recorded as having occurred. Once the animation starts.

Agreed. But it doesn't count until they're actually dead i guess. D/cing survivors just feel like they've got one over on you, it's all part of the toxicity in the community.

DCed survivor should just leave afk hulls behind, that would solve a lot of problems

agreed. but the game would still end immediately if the final survivor disconnected mid mori.
