DC Penalty Compromise
I know that a lot of people still say that the DC penalty should remain in the game while others just want it completely removed, but I think I have a compromise for it so that it remains in the game while also being more bearable/reasonable to deal with.
Instead of the penalty timer constantly increasing I think that the DC penalty system should work like this:
- Every 24 hours the DC penalty resets
- First DC of the day doesn't cause a DC penalty
- Second DC of the day causes a 1 minute penalty
- Third DC of the day causes a 2 minute penalty
- Fourth DC of the day causes a 3 minute penalty
- Fith DC of the day causes a 4 minute penalty
- Sixth DC of the day causes a 5 minute penalty
- The penalty timer caps out at 5 minutes making any DCs past the Sixth one only 5 minutes long
I think that this compromise would make the DC penalties more consistent, reasonable, and bearable in general.

players who DC more than once should be banned for 24h, if you don't want to play, don't play

That's an easy way to kill a game- A lot of game devs scrapped ban systems like those because of how much backlash they caused hence why they basically don't exist anymore.

Playing against bots is not going to make people move on to other games?
Don't know about you, but playing with / against bots is just boring.

So you want killers to be able to d/c out against unfavorable maps and survivors to d/c when they are the first found and make the game rather unplayable.

If you consider being on hook an issue, this game is not for you. It's simply part of the game.

For any of y'all who may be confused, this change isn't meant to be catered towards one side over the other. It is just to make the DC penalty more forgiving/tolerable so that it appeases both sides of the argument.

That's not a real penalty, that's looking down at your phone for a min and playing again.
The dc penalty is already lax.

That's the average time for a penalty on just about any game that has a matchmaking penalty.
What ruins the game for others are people who kill themselves on hook or afk to avoid a long DC penalty. I'd take a bot any day than that because at least the bots would be trying to do stuff whereas the person who wants to go next isn't gonna help anyone.

The dc penalty are fine if you don't rage quit a lot

Not really, no. In games where one teammate leaving = gg it's far far longer, things like cod or random fps titles don't do that because you can still easily win down 1 or even 2 players. Most games where a leaver means almost certain gg is 15 min or higher. Apex, The finals, OW all start at 15 or 30 min. League just suspends you for two weeks if you do it twice.

I agree any length of time shorter that what we currently have will only serve to increase DC's in general, not mitigate them.

On the scale of DC penalties, DBD is surprisingly lenient. On other games that are dependant on full lobbies to play, they are very harsh on afk/leavers.
Honestly the fact BHVR doesn't attempt to limit suicide on hook players at all is something that blew my mind... most game devs would be even harsher on people trying to circumvent the ban system.

I'm never do the whataboutism thing but leaving without penalty is only for survivors as well. I have repeated this a few times but people being able to freely leave only causes a plague of people doing it. If it ruins enough games for someone they might start doing it as well.
I don't know why it's so avidly defended either, games don't last that long. Suicides should be outright deleted and dc should at least go 5/15/30.
I had a game a few days ago against a spirit on lerys. We were pumping through gens pretty quick while ada was getting tunneled, the Jill try's to trade early on last phase and goes down. She instantly dc's without having been hooked while the ada sticks it out and I took a hit/healed her with we'll make it until me and the other two(one bot) run out the gates after ada dies and I take chase for 30 seconds. She dc'd over nothing and the ada secured the overall win for the team.
No clue how people not only defend suicides but also advocate for dc's to be removed in recent threads.
