People Cheat In Dbd Because Of MMR
Change my mind. I think cheating has become more rampant even though I know there was always cheating I understand that, people cheat now more then ever because they know it trolls people who lose in an mmr based environment. If there was less of a reason to sweat it would make people troll sweaty players less.

I think it's simply an ego thing. They don't cope well with losing. Possibly has something to do with real life inadequacies.

Which feeds into the mmr system if there's no mmr system you can manifest an imaginary ego which is kind of like the non transparency on ELO numbers. MMR still causes the inflation of an ego or spawning of an ego for winning. I also understand some people dont need an mmr system to have an ego. I just feel like it encourages an ego in people who would regularly not have one.

There would be people who would cheat anyway no matter whether MMR is good or not.
Nothing can justify using cheating in any cases.
15 -
I would agree with you if i didn't see too many cheaters that just die even with cheats, it's unreal how many of them are just killable anyways.

MMR is already less of a reason to sweat.
You can't see your MMR, you can't prove what MMR you're at, you can't show it off. All it does is give you tougher matches.
Wanting higher MMR is completely irrational.
11 -
I understand that but it gives more of a reason to cheat. If you didn't understand what I meant by trolls

That's incorrect just off of human nature and incentive for winning if you are put up against a challenge you try harder its basic psychology for a lot of people.
1 -
Literally nobody is wanting to go against Blights and bully squads every single match. And anyone wanting 'a challenge' wouldn't be cheating.
1 -
People cheat to have the ultimate power trip.
5 -
Pretty sure we had plenty of cheaters before SBMM was introduced though. DBD just doesn't have the security or moderation to tackle the problem.
And didn't they also dish out free copies of DBD on Epic, spawning boatloads of burner accounts?
4 -
Shhhhh....
We don't speak of the incident....
6 -
People cheat because they can. That's the sole reason. And unfortunately BHVR made a very bad decision when they decided to make their game free on Epic Games during a cheater epidemic.
People cheated with the old rank system too (although less because cheaters couldn't get hundreds of free accounts from Epic Games). It is nowhere near as bad as it used to be though. I think some of us are a bit paranoid and see cheaters where there aren't any. Partly because we had seen it before and partly because cheaters these days are often more subtle.

It is the last one. Bad hackers are banned and smart hackers don't get caught.

People do not cheat because of MMR, for one, MMR doesn’t exist, whatever version we have of it in DBD is little more then a glorified slot machine, and for two, people were cheating far, far before MMR was ever implemented
The real reason people cheat is simple, attention, they want you to be upset, they want messages on their profiles, they do not give a ######### about MMR, they simply want you to feel like ######### regardless of whatever matchmaking system this game uses
1 -
If they cheat because of an invisible number that turns into a mere suggestion the moment someone waits 0.0042 seconds too long in queue or dodges, they'd probably cheat anyway.

People cheated before MMR was a thing

I literally said i understand there were cheaters before my point still stands.
0 -
no ones justifying it im saying that mmr makes people use cheats more because they know it will get under peoples skin more in a competitive setting.
0 -
existing or not its all about if people think its real if you said tomorrow mmr is turned off i 100% guarantee games will be less sweaty not all of them but the majority of them.
0 -
i already stated that in op.
ive seen a huge increase in cheaters....in pre mmr the games were way less sweaty and yes they might have cheated before but now its a guarentee so they can get a rise out of people mmr brings out competitiveness and trolling people with cheats makes them mad when they have something to lose in the game like mmr.

I bet people in fall guys etc also cheat because of mmr then
1 -
No one is cheating due to MMR. There's no leaderboard or even a visible number that you could use to gloat. There's no benefit from raising an invisible number.
1 -
Alot of cheaters have aton of back up accounts. 1 account gets banned, they swap to a new one for awhile til IT gets banned. They aren't likely to have an account with a high amount of hours and aren't likely to be in high MMR since they keep having to restart.
3 -
No, worms cheat in DbD because they are worth less than garbage and they know it.
2 -
so do you thinkm the leader board aspect stops people from try harding ? and so you are saying mmr never brought try hards then with that comment

Let me tell you a tale of many years ago when I played Dark Souls on the PS3, my brother had found a save editor for it and goofed off with it. I also used it, but only after running into so many other hackers in that game I decided I'd use the save editor to counter those players and ignore anyone who clearly wasn't cheating. Even figured out the best ways to counter their hacked stats to kill them faster than they could kill me.
The messages I got were extremely concerning. It was either a person losing their ego trip and absolutely freaking out, threats and all, or there were those who had absolutely no empathy and were confused why I didn't pick on normal players.
Playing against hackers in DBD, they act somewhat the same if you DC. I remember one time I picked up someone as the 1.0 Sadako and all the hooks disabled, with an Ada going super speed and tbagging. I DC'd and it was almost word-for-word the same weird ego trip I experienced back in Dark Souls.
Basically they cheat to feel artificial power.

Nah, people cheat in dbd due to the large majority being bad and having an ego. I've gone against comp players although it's been awhile who all have giant ego issues, ego issues while doing nothing noteworthy in my game.
I've experienced around 8 times and I have watched a streamer experience it many times. Comp players have ego issues while playing optimally(but doing nothing too impressive chase wise), hackers are like that but far worse both with ego and skill.
What are the hackers going to do? Cheat to high ranks for the... oh wait, literally 0 reward for a person like that.

So you would rather have all players thrown into a pool, first come first serve? That's what happens without an MMR system. So a new player queues up brand new first game, and they are going up against Otzdarva doing a Win Streak Run with Nurse, currently at 157. How is that game going to go for that new player? While the MMR system isn't perfect, it keeps thins like that from happening.

People were tryharding before mmr was introduced. You also never see anyone say they must 4k or have a 4 man escape bc they want to raise this invisible number.
With or without mmr, people will cheat and tryhard bc they want to win.
1 -
Yea but when mmr was introduced my point is more people started try Harding and cheating also the "invisible" number isnt invisible to cheaters. My point being they find people who take this game very seriously and cheat to troll them because they know how seriously they take it. I never said that no one cheated or try hard before MMR what I'm saying is it made it more encounterable after mmr was introduced.

I have 4k hours and encounter people with 100 hours or 10k hours the mmr system doesn't even work properly. All it does is encourage sweaty play and cheating. With all the flaws the old system we had it was still better. MMR is rotting this game.
0 -
mmr dropping didn't make people tryhard
0 -
In other words, it might have seemed better to you, but it wasn't. But of course, when we don't like changes, we always look back with rose-tinted glasses, it's human nature.
0 -
again guess your missing my point i never said its the sole reason but i know most of the people i play with all started trying harder after mmr came out.
0 -
I dont really care about mmr being in the game so that makes no sense saying i dont like change my whole point is more people cheat now.
0 -
Your statement that "MMR is rotting this game." is not the words of someone who does not care.
2 -
explain the cheaters when the game was still using RBMM
