Feedback on the Midchapter - one the *worst* we have had

Of course, these are just my subjective impressions, but I feel like this Midchapter has ruined so many aspects of the game and created new imbalances. Below I will list the changes that have taken place, and then the changes that I feel would have been much better for the game.

A) The changes that have been implemented:

  • no basekit Corrupt Intervention - meaning, if you don't run the perk Corrupt Intervention, and you're a weaker killer, gens will still fly at the start. If you are Nurse or Blight, it won't matter to you
  • STBFL got butchered. The only nerf I agree with is the 5% -> 4% of cooldown per token. The special attack on obession now removing the tokens makes STBFL pretty much useless and hurts weaker killers. Or if they do choose to use it, they will ignore the obsession completely and most likely tunnel more than ever. Nurse and Blight won't be affected at all, because they don't use this perk. Meanwhile, the camping potential of this perk didn't get touched at all.
  • Grim Embrace will not prevent those early gens from popping. It won't give weaker killers too much value, 'cause they need help with getting downs, to be able to activate the perk. Meanwhile, Blight and Nurse will be obliterating lobbies with this perk
  • Grim Embrace will make solo Q survivor experience even worse that it's been. Good luck finishing any gens in solo Q.
  • Lunar New Year event got removed. A huge staple of DBD events. Rip celebration of Asian communities. Rip a really cool event, that's both engaging, cool (fireworks on gens and hooks!), has interesting cosmetic rewards (like a Lunar cap, shirt, weapon, etc.) and cool unique bloodweb items (firecrackers, red tooboxes)

B) The changes that could have been implemented *instead*, and would have done wonders for the game (imo):

  • basekit Corrupt Intervention - it would have helped weaker killers A LOT, and not aid the strong killers too much; really good balanced solution
  • STBFL keeping the 5 -> 4% cooldown nerf, but having the special attack on obsession not remove stacks, so that weaker killers can still benefit from it. Plus, nerfing this perk around hooked survivors, so it's not a clutch camping perk
  • Grim Embrace receiving a much healthier buff. E.g. #1 only block all gens on the first ever hook, and when you hook the 4th survivor for the 1st time. E.g. #2 keep the old Grim Embrace, but add an alternative activating condition to help with cases where you cannot find the 4th survivor.
  • Lunar New Year event - It's the year of the DRAGON. The coolest animal in the Zodiac. This event could have been BIG. Just imagine. 2 new outfits for Kate and Yun-Jin (those look amazing tbh), PLUS at least 1 lunar dragon year for a *male* survivor (imagine lunar dragon David, or Gabriel), PLUS at least 1 KILLER lunar dragon year skin (just imagine Dragon Dredge; omg that would have been unbelieavably amazing). New unlockable torsos for Thalita, Gabriel, etc. The event itself that has envelopes, which are REALLY, REALLY fun imo. The Lunar New Year event celebration in DBD could have made it HUGE this year, honoring the Asian communities, and creating this powerful, impactful staple in the legacy of DBD events.

TL;DR

1) Weaker killers got nerfed (STBFL nerf)

2) S-tier killers got buffed (Grim Embrace)

3) Solo Q got more miserable (Grim Embrace)

4) One of the coolest, staple events in DBD (the Lunar event) got REMOVED, and we're only geting 2 skins (no male survivors, no killers)

This Midchapter could have been HUGE, AMAZING, EVENTFUL, with healthy balances around perks that felt fair for both sides. Oh my god, it could have been SOOOOO good. But instead, we have received so many AWFUL changes. Just..... why ????

I agree on some of your points, as I think BHVR really dont know what they're doing at all, but I dont think base-kit corrupt intervention would be good idea. I think it would be lovely for m1 killers, but the root of the problem is theres a whole bunch of killers with powers that shorten chase, and a whole bunch of killers who don't, and those who don't are at the bottom of the food chain. I'm not a game developer, but I'm sure they can implement some sort of mechanic that acknowledges the desparity between ghostface and wesker, and helps change the game (IN SUBTLE WAYS) that helps both types of killers become closer in power.

I mean, stronger killers will get a down sooner, which means Corrupt Intervention would deactivate sooner as well. Basekit corrupt would aid stronger killers a little. Meanwhile, weaker killers (especially those that need time to set up traps) will take longer to down a survivor, so Corrupt would stay up longer. Basekit corrupt would aid weaker killers a lot. I feel like it balances out sufficiently. If not, then the devs could tweak it a bit, like you suggested.

Grim Embrace on the other hand benefits stronger killers a LOT, because they can down fast and keep gens for popping for so long, while on the other hand weaker killers will benefit from GE much less, because it takes them time to down and hook.

That's why I see basekit corrupt intervention as a really good balancing solution, while GE has made strong killers much stronger, and weaker killers only a little bit stronger. The imbalance between strong and week killers has become biger than ever.
