Bad internet connection should not be rewarded

Players with bad internet should not get advantage because of it. Very least lobby should show who has bad internet because no-one should have to play agains't player with unfair advantage if they don't want. But best would be if game would kick player out with too bad connection. Many players even use bad internet to get competive advantage.

Yeah I know killers don't host the game anymore but I don't understand why that translates to removing the ping indicator.

They can't do that. Because BHVR don't have too much servers. I can't talk about other zones but in EU, all Europa is playing in same server. I am seeing players from Kazakhistan to UK, from Russia to North Africa.

It's really crazy, if they can't add new servers they can't kick player for bad connection.

It shouldn't and you should be able to play a match if you have a bad connection. But hey it's DBD and BHVR you should'nt expect anything less.

At least they could do that best connection has advantage. How it's on other games.

It's not even always killers I have had survivors disappearing mid chase and spawn miles behind and hits not connecting. Even seen the survivors gone down and then back up.

I'd prefer to not just get kicked because I live in a village haha xD

But yes, I don't know why killerping isn't shown anywhere and i should be :D

Having a bad internet connection is its own punishment. Sure, you get lucky with a hit once in a while but you know what happens more often? The survivor just randomly disappears and you find out you were chasing a phantom.

It does matter for the survivor as well. Just not quite as much. Teleporting survivors are still a thing. Also, when your ping as a survivor is bad, the position you see yourself in and the position the server sees you in are not the same. This means that sometimes a killer with a low ping can still hit you from miles away. Because you aren't where you think you are. How many times have you seen survivors suddenly teleport a few feet when they went down? That is a result of their ping.

With that said, I'd rather BHVR look into blocking VPNs and stuff like that. Showing the killer's ping will lead to quite a bit of lobby dodging. And while it is understandably frustrating to play against someone with 500 ms ping, you cannot tell how bad their connection actually is just from the indicator alone. I reckon even a short moment of yellow ping would be enough for some people to dodge lobbies. I have pretty good connection for the most part but sometimes my ping will go to yellow for a few seconds (don't know why). On rare occasions even to red. But then everything is completely normal again.

This could also be server related. The DBD servers aren't always the most stable. We have seen that time and time again.

Yeah, punish people for buying a game they had no idea had such a terrible player connection system.

I bought this game when Killer was host. Now I should be punished because bhvr changed their mind?

And no high ping players are heavily punished, you just see your side not theirs.

As Bubba I constantly get stunned using chainsaw when it should be a down or a pallet break. Survivor I get hit miles away from window or pallet.

Bhvr also pools high ping players together making even more janky gameplay.

Why are you asking for paying customers to be punished for a company making certain decisions?

You can see a little red bar indicator in the lobby either next to each survivor or next to the countdown for killer.

    • If there's no red bar chances are high everyone is close to the server = good connection
    • If you see a player has a red bar, but it's switching on and off = not as good connection for that player and the opponent
    • If you see someone with a constant red bar = VPN and/or horrible connection for that player and the opponent

With this knowlegde it's your choice if you hit ready or not. But overall i would suggest to dogde every lobby with a contant red bar.

No it's huge advantage I had once bad internet because connection problems and kept getting ridicious hit through pallets so much that survivors gave up. Even some of the hits didn't connect ok my screeb I felt like cheater using hacks. In fact I was I had unfair advantage and even some cheaters use hacks which give smaller advantages...

No because it’s super annoying, literally just hardwire your console/pc.

True it's not fun going against South American players who hit me 2 seconds after vaulting and slug me

Below 200 ping its not an advantage on the player's side, past that it is, as funny things happen at that point like survivors making hooks sounds twice.

I'm geographically the furthest a player should be from a server. Unless they in the Antarctic, they should not have a higher ping.

BTW many smaller games I've bought play way better then this when I'm connecting to Eu.

What is "bad" Internet though? When is it more accurate to say there's a "ping difference" as opposed to "bad ping"?

I tend to get about 60 ms on PC and 80 ms on Switch (don't know why they are slightly different, because I'm playing on the same Wifi network. There's only me and I make sure nothing else in the house is using the internet when I play).

I know if I ever got matched up with a well known DBD streamer, they would definitely whinge endlessly about my "bad ping", even though the game is still perfectly playable at that ping in my opinion.
