unpopular take: I had more fun as survivor in lights out than in normal mode.
Imagine if tunneling and camping had proper fixes, lights out would be even more fun as this is the main complaint about this mode not being that fun and maybe that generators are too hard to find so maybe a special noise generators make when they are at 0% in this modifier would be great.
I love the fact that I can run around the map without the killer seeing me and I can plan my next move without a killer coming right up to you second 1 in the game.
The unpredictability and lack of visibility keep you on your toes and it embodies how playing survivor feel like, exciting.
Also a really good top for this game mode as survivor is to use the edges of the map, it's the best way to traverse the map and do gens without the killer finding you.
TLDR: If it wasn't for camping and tunneling and generators not making a noise at 0% think most of the issues people have in this game mode would be gone.

Good for you! :-)

This. I love this mode for the same reason. The unknown is what makes it exciting, and I can still try to predict the Killers movement with how they play. Some Killers wander around a lot, hit and run so when hooking someone, I know what their next hotspot is so I run at the hook in such an angle that they dont see me and I get a free unhook, knowing where they might be exactly at the moment.
I played 1 match solo normal and I got bored. Wesker didnt get a single kill and the amount of info you get is just far to easy. The only thing frustrating in solo are bad teammates and not the difficulty.
Lights out feels actually difficult in comparison.. way more interesting.

It's a shame that the mode is only available for a week. It sounds like people have found ways to cheese matches in ways that is making it kind of miserable for survivors. Hopefully they get some feedback and tweak it so we can give it another go.
They said we are only getting a new mode once every 6 - 9 months, so there's no reason they can't modify it a bit and relaunch it.

Good for you. I wish I could say the same but so far I've played 8 matches and not one of them has even been somewhat pleasant on either side. Maybe this game mode is just not for me.

The mode does have some tweaks to be made (mainly adjusting the Killer descrepencies, and which Killers are way stronger than others) , but overall this was brilliant and what made it better was it really does show the difference between skill and being perk-reliant.
I hope they bring this back, either as a separate mode or an Offering (depending if it all goes in one or the effects are split). This could make games so much more interesting in future.

I was very bored of DBD so had not been playing for ages but came back to try this mode. While it has issues overall I have really enjoyed it. The only thing ruining it for me is the tunnelling since there are no perks to help mitigate that, plus I feel killers like Slinger are a bit BS in this mode as there isn't much you can do once you see them as its already too late to avoid being hit.
Overall though, I welcome anything that shakes up the stagnation I felt with DBD

Like the mode but survivors playing as Claudette in dark clothing
Really!?

You are not the only one

Camping&tunneling are core issues and have nothing to do with Lights Out. But some people treat the game mode, as if it had the fault that killers camp&tunnel. Which simply isn´t fair.
I also enjoy the Lights Out mode as solo survivor. But got heavy fire for my opinion. As its apparently impossible to enjoy a mode, when everyone else hates it.
I guess thats just different tastes.

I love this mode and I think overall the devs have balanced it quite well all things considered.
Mostly a solo survivor main (have tried solo, swf and killer in lights out)

I was pleasantly surprised as well. The craziness of the darkness reminds me of when I first started playing years ago, and the maps were dark and foggy, and I didn't know where anything was. It brings back that horror aspect and jump scare fun that has been missing. I dig the fact that the gens have a little hint to where they are from the sound and you REALLY have to focus on that sense for killers. I think during this event was the first time I've ever been downed by a zombie as well. I felt like I was laughing more at the situation, than just scoffing at general displeasure.

I have greatly enjoyed the mode. Maybe it's my region or I'm just lucky but I've only had a few matches have a killer camping and tunneling off the hook, which has made the mode an absolute blast.

I think killer is better to play in Lights Out, but I've had a lot of fun as survivor. It feels good to have this game be scary again.

I think the killers who highlight you in the fog are a MUCH bigger issue. First few games were fun, then nothing but Meyers with no counterplay

I love the lights out mode. A bit rough around the edges but its certainly something going forward.

I’m enjoying this mode! Looking forward to future game modes :)

Nah, perks literally make the game for me. Lights Out offers nothing new for gameplay, it’s just a filter with a couple mechanics switched off. It largely benefits killers and hugely hurts solo queue. I've played about 30-40 games and have really tried to like it.
If Bhvr really wanted this to be spooky hard mode for survivors then they needed to reward survivors in a unique way. 150% BP bonus is not it. They could have made a sort of hide and seek scoring system where survivors were rewarded points for escaping chases and evading the killer in the darkness and killers took back those points by catching them. There also could have been something like … lanterns throughout the map that survivors and killers could strategically turn on and off. These are really rough ideas but it’s the premise of something that would make playing Lights Out unique.
For a first modifier I thought this was a really boring, lazy introduction and probably one of the least picked options in the survey.
edit: also, let’s not forget Bhvr only recently finally introduced systems to the game after 7 years that hinder really unfun strategies like hard camping and 3 genning, only to introduce a mode that removes those systems and makes it infinitely easier for killers to win using those tactics lmao.

I feel the same. Imo it’s definitely more difficult for Survivor but I enjoy it so much.

I don't think that's an unpopular take, there have been lots of players who are enjoying it as survivor, myself included.
Like anything there are those who aren't fans and those who'll whine about that, the latter can be prevalent on the forums, but it's definitely not an unpopular take to like playing survivor in lights out mode.
I got my first consecutive escapes in lights out last night. It feels more rewarding to escape from lights out mode than in the base game.
The atmosphere, the need to be constantly watchful and looking around rather than just relying on TR heartbeat while repairing gens.
Lights out puts the tension back into playing survivor and its great.

Congrats on the escapes.
It’s so funny, in a weird way Lights Out feels more like “normal” DBD and the normal mode feels like the comp mode.

It really does bring back the horror element, and the barebones approach for mechanics feels like I'm in the 9th circle of the Entity's hell, too bad hook camping ruins it.
