The Need for a New Game Mode is Increasing
The game is getting stale. Sure we get new killers and survivors, new maps, and an event every once in a while, But it is still the same thing over and over again. We've gotten new toys over the past 3 years, but we are still playing the same old game with the same old tedious objectives. I'm worried that the game will die hard due to players getting bored and moving on (Like many people I know personally).
I truly love this game and just like the devs, I want this game to keep going for many years to come. But due to the current pattern of extremely disliked chapters and extremely liked chapters, the end might be coming a little sooner.
I think the devs should just stop working on the next chapter. Focus more on what people have been asking to have implemented for a long time now (I'm not talking about the Freddy rework). We need a new game mode.
I don't care if it takes FAR longer to make than any of the normal chapters. I, just like many other people, want something new. I'm sick of playing with the same old toys.
With something like making a new game mode, it won't be hard coming up with the concept since you guys have a MASSIVE community that are so passionate about your game. I've seen a lot of REALLY good ideas for a new game mode and they will rarely get acknowledged. Don't just let us help with bugs, buffs, and nerfs. Let us help you make something brand new.

That is still the same objective. Nothing new.

Hide and seek. The killer role rotates between all players. Every time a survivor is hooked, they become the killer. 3 hooks and you're out. Rounds take a maximum of 10 minutes, at which point the player(s) with the smallest amount of hooks received (or highest amount of hooks performed, or some combination of the two) will be declared the winner.
EDIT: Also, no SWF and no dodging. Solo queue only, with an algorithm to make sure friends cannot get into the same lobby together.

I love Dead by daylight and I genuinely have fun playing this game often solo or not. It does get really boring for me sometimes so I decided to do more perk builds instead of staying with the one I usually stay with to give myself a challenge.
But...yeah this game can get stale really fast actually. However this game wasn’t meant to be played like that all of the time, it seems extremely causal.
So I do agree with you on a few things; I do also wish for different game modes it would probably make the game a lot more fun than it is.

A new game mode isn't happening any time soon...
They haven't even confirmed one and they're reworking the end game for the current mode.
If we are lucky they'll start trying to make one when we get servers.

We have been repairing gens and hooking for 3 years almost.
That tells me you should probably move on if you're wanting a different objective/mode.
Because who knows if they'll keep it as is for 3 more years?

I wouldn't mind a new game mode for sure. What they need is a hide and seed collectible mode or something. Where hooks really aren't the objective? I don't know.
I know they don't want to split their fragile player base, and that's a good thing, but a fresh game mode might be cool.
2v8 could be fun for sure... if it's done right. It could be a mess. I would love lore based collectibles in the game that you have to find... and you get rewarded shards for finding them.
And items that can only be bought with shards as well. THe devotion and shards format is being wasted.

The problem with game modes (based on how you replied to Backstabber), is that ideas are almost never new. 8v2 would be a wonderful thing in a time where Dedicated Servers comes in. But as for a game mode that can fundamentally be different then the core game?
Well it's not impossible, however, to come up with something a majority would enjoy is nigh impossible. Something like CoD's zombie mode could do though, where one person is randomly selected as killer and has to hunt down all the survivors, as they kill the survivors, the survivors also become a killer. Last person left as a survivor wins.

The issue is: the devs were creating content and bandaid fixes all around the current game mode. It will be an insane difficult task to create a new BALANCED gamemode.
On the other side I'm thinking it shouldn't be that crazy to create a last man standing fun mode or similar. The community is big now, splitting them won't hurt.

@Shad03 the 2 v 8 doesn’t bring anything new besides more players in a match. I’m talking about giving us something brand new. We are a really big community so I’m certain that if we all actually try and not be stuck up our own asses in the process, actually work together instead of choosing sides, we could actually make something that is fun, balanced, and new.

Why don't we have like a super large map and at the beginning 100 survivors get parachuted in. The last man standing would be the winner, a mechanic would be an ever closing circle that killed anything it hit.

As long as the Killer can't see and/or do anything while they're dropping in.
That'd be a gigantic edge on the first few victims.

I'm not sold on 2v8, but I do agree we need a new mode. Maybe a mansion survival death match or something. I was being looped with Freddy earlier and just got real bored. So, I stopped chasing and just started trying to get and keep everyone in dream world. DId not chase, or hit, just sleep, sleep, sleep, etc. Was actually more fun...weird.

The mobile dbd game they consulted is releasing its 2nd game mode.
First was a 2 vs 8 game modes and now they are releasing a strange game mode where 4 survivors hunt down the killer from escaping.
Its a sad state when last october they said there in a place where its viable to separate playerbase. Still no game modes and everyone is soon gonna be ahead with offering variety. Mobile dbd would only have edge if released on pc and switch. Last year would also get the edge once it brings content. Friday the 13th would of had its own paranoia game mode if not for lawsuit. Heck im wondering if soul at stake a dbd chinnese clone will have the modes before them. Even that one person making a game by himself (Horror Legends) in this genre he might even beat them to the punch. XD

They said that population might be an issue but it doesn't need to be. They could mix new game mode with the old one and it would all start from the same lobby. I've played a dead game with 500 players online and I had no problem at all with waitnig for the match. It's all about sane match making.

How about Survivors trying to Build a Weapon to Kill the killer? or Survivors trying to fix a Car that is missing certain parts to run away, or survivors trying to break a spell, or survivors trying to reach the police to come and capture the killer
There is 100's of idea's and it doesnt have to be selected by survivors or killers, they could just make it a random objective just how its a random map now
