I love Clown changes but there is a HUGE problem...

While I love the clown changes, something caught my attention that I myself haven't realized due to how happy and hype I am at the moment.

Redhair's Pinky Finger.

For those who don't know what this add-on does, it allow Clown to insta down you if you get hit directly with a bottle. Currently, it takes 3 bottles away from 4. However, with Gin Bottle, it increases to 3.

With the upcoming changes and if Pinky Finger doesn't get hit with a nerf bat, Clown will have a total of 3 bottles from 6. Pair it with Gin bottle and he'll have a whopping 5 bottles on his arsenal, (4 with Soda Pop).

The changes that I would love to see for Pinky finger.

-Reduce the number of carried bottles by -5

-Time it takes to reload: 5 seconds ( from 3 seconds)

If Clown goes live as he will be without Pinky getting changed, expect people to run Pinky finger w/ Gin bottle in the next patch. I personally won't run this add on or never will (Unless Tome challenge requires insta downing.)

idk about the double nerf to it, just making it 1 bottle should be fine

in fact make it even more annoying make it so the last bottle applies exposed on a direct hit and don't decrease the bottle count at all

I'm also concerned about that change, yeah.

I think the Pinky Finger needs to get the same balancing as the Iridescent Hatchet and it's wild to me they didn't do it that way in the first place. Hard set the bottle capacity to 1, maybe 2, and make bottle-increasing addons not affect it.

Yes, this was my first concern when I saw that as well. Hopefully they've taken that into account. Pinky Finger is annoying to play against when you can't really do anything about it. Wish they'd just rework it entirely.

The thing about Clown I'm not optimistic about is the blur effect being "reduced". Most likely it may as well be as good as removed, so in essence, his bottles will only be good for slowing people down. Meaning pallet camping is gonna be safe against Clown...yawwwwwnn

that would kill add-on. So far, I am only excited for clown's changes. the rest of them seem uninteresting. poor demo.

Pinky Finger should just be reworked, no matter how much it gets nerfed it’s still bad design.

But if it doesn’t get reworked then yes it should at least be changed to -5 or even get the Iri Head treatment.

Good, it's a badly designed addon that needs a full rework.

If they don't have time to do that, they should at least make its downside unavoidable.

i think add-on is fine. if you want to nerf it, then maybe make it set clown bottles to 4. I am more excited for yellow bottles being useful and higher bottle count. he really needed those changes.

Four instadown bottles is also too much, that's why it has the penalty it has to begin with.

Do agree the rest of the changes are good, though. Heck, the extra bottles is a potentially good change outside of being used with that one addon.

Redhead's Pinky Finger should just be completely reworked into a new effect so that we never have to worry about this problem ever again.

originally it didn't have penalty. it was full bottle count for 3+ years. i am just glad that clown has a more enjoyable base-kit.

Exactly, and it was busted. The original Iridescent Head only had a very minor penalty for years too, it took them a long time to fix that one- and for some reason they did it properly with the Iri Head but not for the Pinky Finger, despite Clown's bottles being a much easier to regain resource than Huntress' hatchets.

They added that penalty for a reason. It's never been unavoidable, even though it should be, and it's going to become even less relevant if the addon isn't changed to accommodate.

clown is not in same class of good anti-loop as huntress. that is evident by her 4.4 status in relationship to other killers. killers with stronger class of anti-loop end up being stronger with instant down because their odds to get a hit is higher. if you ask me, pinky finger should be base-kit add-on but that is probably too controversial.

I am honestly excited for him. I love to play this fat guy but now this buff will make him even more enjoyable. But i agree with you, her irri add-on will be problem.

I think they should make same as Huntress's irri, limit it with only 1 no matter what.

Honestly, they should remove/rework every instadown addon because they are either useless/unreliable or too strong and from the survivor pov boring to play against. In addition, it feels so dumb to balance around one addon because it is just too strong. This is now the case: Clown having more bottles is not a huge issue but the pinky finger is the issue and instead of trying to balance it - just remove the pinky finger

    Radical suggestion

    Redhead's Pinky finger:

    • A direct hit with Afterpiece Tonic exposes the survivor.
    • Once you throw Afterpiece Tonic bottle you can only throw Afterpiece Antidotes until you reload.

This then basically has no problematic interaction with bottle numbers whatsoever, and has a signficiant trade off. A Clown running this will be better off using Antidotes to chase and burn resources, then when at the right moment can go for the instadown. If they miss, they likely still got the slow and a hit, and have speed bottle to try and finish the job, but is a risky style of play, for potentially great reward.
