The Current Pool of Slowdown Perks Encourage Poor Match Pacing
The current meta really just revolves around "how fast can I do x" and "how much time can I waste for the other side." It isn't all that interesting.
I feel like even when perks like Ruin and NOED were really OP, they at least brought something different to the match (find the totem before gens, be extremely careful in endgame, etc.) Now Deadlock, Corrupt, Grim Embrace, Dead Man's, Pain Res and all that rely on being relatively hands free slowdown without the killer directly hitting gens. The only meta hands on perk I can think of is Pop because it's Pop, that's really it.
Survivor has a similar issue in terms of endurance. How many different ways are there to tank hits? DH, OtR, MFT, Buckle Up, Adrenaline. Survivor perks are just as much about protecting survivors as they are wasting a killer's time with hits and distance. I recognize most of these perks have been in the game for a while now, but when so many coexist and there are 16 perk slots between survivors, it's a bit much imo.
Without these perks, matches tend to fly by extremely quickly, which can lead to games feeling lost after just one bad chase in a lot of instances. The obvious proposal would be to slow down the base match for both sides while encouraging the use of other perks, but I have no clue how to design that.
Thoughts?

They need to implement limits to how many perks of a certain type each side can bring. Maybe a max of two slowdowns for killers and two second chance perks for survivors. It would encourage some perk variety at the very least. One of the most unfun things in the game for both sides is when you run into an opponent that plays like their life is on the line. Then the game becomes almost as much about the perks as it does the players. I personally don't enjoy getting teammates with meme perks and a Blight who is running four slowdowns.

I'd say the gen regression limit kinda does this already.
You don't want to bring too many regression event perks because you'll burn through them too quickly. So you need slowdown other than just regression.
Add to this the fact that gen blocking doesn't stack (besides a certain combo that triggers DMS of course), and we already have a self-limiting mechanic for nearly all slowdown perks.
It's more that out of the slowdown perks that do exist, the meta ones are the ones with the least hands-on requirements.

I see were this is coming from but you can stack Corrupt and Grim Embrace without interfering with each other due to their nature as perks, add Dead Man's and Pain Res and you've got the best slowdown perks in the game without wasting Gen Block time and are nowhere near the gen regression cap.
That's not even the only fully meta slowdown build that doesn't overlap regression/gen block, it's just the first that comes to mind.

I am a Pig main that hates slowdown perks and never use them, but I did one game on the PTB with Video Tape and Crate of Gears and.. with the new changes to Pig's RBT it was so bad as everyone got their hats off and had 3 generators done before I even got a single hook. Then they were predropping every pallet (not even trying to stun me) so being faster in ambush didn't matter. I slugged them all, then I quit and reinstalled live. If the changes to Pig on PTB go live, I'll be joining the 4 Slowdown Meta and slugging.

I mean, is it really a problem with Pigs Traps and not maybe with your playstyle when you dont get a Down while 3 Gens get done?

And let us not forget the fact that the survivors somehow all got their hats off before he even got one hook, did he never hook them after putting their hats on? Something is odd here.
And new Pig is damn lethal in all loops in my limited experience. If they don't drop the pallet and you crouch by it, there is nothing they can do against the ambush.

So all survivors have to do is predrop pallets against a barebones M1 killer.

You can still get an easy hit on most pallets even if it is dropped with new ambush. Have you even tried it at all or are you just hung up on the reverse bear trap changes?

Buff chase perks then. Buff other weaker perks and make them GOOD, very strong. Not just "okay/decent" make them A+ tier and watch perk variation sky rocket.

They all started with Headtraps. This is what Videotape does.
But aside from that, they probably removed them and this already takes a lot of time. We are talking here about probably like 4-5 minutes it takes the Survivors to get their RBTs off AND do 3 Gens.

This would be very appreciated! I miss when Spirit Fury came out and pallet slams became the most terrifying part of a survivor's existence

They'd have to be massively OP for them to dethrone regression perks.

I just miss the old Ruin/pop and DH/DS meta. Yeah it sucked ass, but I loved that ass. There was something about it that felt... Groovy... Back then at high ranks killer HAD to tunnel a homie, and the homie knew it was coming, but he had ways to deal with it. Unless it was basement bubba, or bodyblock hag. But even a rag tag buncha solos could thrawrt their evile plans and make a great escape, surviving is no longer the goal, getting out of the basement was. I genuinely miss that #########... Even on the receiving end. Both ends. Heh
On the other end while playing killer, you could try dumb builds sometimes sure, often times without tunneling(sometimes actually... well no there was that one time...) anyway, and sometimes those random hodgepodge builds would keep working... Up until the matchmaking sets you against the Korean Seal Team 69 (It was as if there were no Survivors in the US... or even south of the dang border!) I'd get ROLFSTOMPED by ping and flying Moon Runes in the end game screen as the words "ENTITY IS DISPLEASED" flies across the screen.
After all the changes and nerfs Something feels off. I think what we need is a few chapters where no perks are added, instead we get some perks reworked/"BaLaNcEd"

Pig is still a M1 killer. And last time I checked M1 killers still couldn't fly. What mind game do you propose Pigs use against pre drops and Shift + W?

Video Tape. It's an addon. Google it.
Just kidding, here you go.

I do not think that addon is that good, especially after the changes, frontloading the traps at the start of the match never gives them a chance to activate which would slow down the game a lot more later in the trial. But then again if you start the match with Video Tape and still do not manage to get a hook before 3 gens gets done, you might want to look in the mirror and see that the problem is you more than any game mechanic.
I did two games as pig on ptb and 4k'd on both without any trap addons.

That wouldn't work... Imagine loading into a lobby and getting an error message that either you or the randoms in lobby has to change their loadout because there is 4 ppl using 1 second chance perk each. You'd have alot of awkward waiting for the OTHER person to switch, or lobby dodging.

Well, things are also different on PTB, but no it's the fact that no survivor was on generators, they all went to et the traps off right away, so no way to find them unless you get lucky. Even the #1 Pig main in the world (shown by stats) has said that these changes are bad for both Pig and survivors. He's got a series of 3 games where he shows this. While yes, he does manage to get 4Ks in all, remember this is the TOP PIG PLAYER IN THE WORLD and look at the scummy tactics he has to resort to. There is also a Part 2 and Part 3 with more evidence.

I'm referring specifically to Gen Slowdown and Endurance Perks in this post. Sorry if the topic of discussion wasn't clear

Yeah that's what I mean. I use Hexes as an example despite being hands free because at least on the survivor side they add a new dynamic to the match.
As a survivor, when a hex is in the match, you need to go find and break it. When Pain Res, Corrupt, Grim Embrace, etc. activate, you say "that's tough"and find something else to do.
I'm not going to pretend DBD's older metas were great, but the current iteration of it feels much more samey and boring than before, y'know?

there was stbfl. that was pretty popular perk. Apparently it was too strong.
Like 50% brutal strength and 10% per fire-up? Superior anatomy on every window vault?
0 -
Unironically why not 10% fire up let me do everything 50% faster in endgame (based)
1 -
I see the vision. Imagine Xeno or Myers with those vault builds

They said in a livestream they don't want to do this because it limits your freedom. They want you to be able to pick whatever combination you like
