STOP THE TUNNELING!

Exactly. Killers should not receive information about hooks at all except where to find them when hooking survivors.

I do use OTR a lot now because of this problem but it should be an option. You shouldn't be forced to use it.
1 -
Like others have said, it would probably help a lot if they took some hook information away from killer. So they don't know if that survivor's been unhooked or where.
1 -
I don't think taking away the information would be a good idea to be honest. The less information the killer has, the more they will have to walk around the map, wasting time to look for survivors, which takes a lot of time and pushes them even more towards playing mean - towards tunneling.
It would only make the issue worse, if it affects them no matter how they play. So we would need to come up with penalties that only come into play when the killer actually tunnels and rewards that only work as long as they don't. This would however also require a clear definition of what we consider tunneling.

Well, tunneling is a problem that I guess is not gonna be fixed
But well, then don't complain when a lot of players stop playing. If someone doesn't want me to play, then I won't play
0 -
It’s always been an issue and there are still over 50 million people around the world that play.
trust me, nobodies gonna stop playing lol

It sucks cause unhook notification is one of the ways to find another survivor. I get that, that's what I've used it for, it's just that hard tunnelers most definitely abuse it.
0 -
Exactly. I had a friend recently rage quit, stop playing the game cause of killers.
And no matter how much some of these guys blame it on survivors "running to a dead zone" making bad decisions, they know good and well they target newer survivors on purpose that don't have as much map knowledge, looping skills etc. We see it all the time.
2 -
Just had an idea. As someone mentioned above, there's fear blocking hooks or something would encourage abuse from toxic teams. But, the game can detect when players take protection hits, right? Can't that be worked into it?
Like a few conditions take protection away.
1. Another survivor has been hooked.
2. Unhooked survivor takes protection hit.
3. A timer. Though I'm not sure how long that timer should be.
0 -
Unhooked survivor takes protection hit.
But the unhooked survivor getting hit immediately will always be a protection hit.
1 -
Pyramid Head's cages are perfect anti-tunnel, and there's no reason regular hooks can't have the same functionality.
0 -
Still better than nothing, though. Cause there's a chance they won't be hit. I think temporary sprint burst after being unhooked should be base kit, too. So they can get away from killer. For me it keeps OTR up for longer. Even then, killers will still pursue you to the ends of the earth, that's where hook blocks kick in. But if survivors purposely take protection hit, then they can lose it that way, too.

Skill issue. If you don't wanna be tunneled, run OTR and DS.
3 -
Killer main here: I don't tunnel like... Ever. Don't like it, never liked it. The game punish me for this most of the time.
2 -
"Skill issue" because you can't win without tunneling?
5 -
Again, stop with the tribal "US vs them" fight.
Some killers hard tunnel because gens go too fast and they want to win. They can't all afford splitting hooks at moment if they don't play high/top tier killer. Yes I know it sucks for the survivors that are not very good at looping.
I can afford to avoid hard tunnel because I decided to play A tier killers only (Xeno, Oni, Wesker, Plague, Pyramid Head). While hard tunnel sucks, I don't mind getting tunneled at 2 gens left tho, it is just normal to confirm a kill for the killer at this stage of the game.
I think Behavior should implement a mechanic to reward hook mixing like a better version of Dying light basekit. Plus a corrupt intervention basekit that only go away after first down or first gen completed (no timer).
THEN : If a survivor got hooked twice in a row when the equivalant of more than 2.5 gens are left to repair before exit gates got powered, the sacrifice timer is extended to 90 or 120 secs and the other survivors receive a repair speed boost.
Something like that, don't mind the numbers too hard, this is just a concept.
If you mix hook : natural slow down. If you tunnel early game : you might put yourself in a bad spot.

Tunneling is a manageable issue. Everyone knows this except beginners.

Saying "Skill Issue" is such a cop out. I think the fact killers often tunnel new survivors reflects more on *their* poor skill than the new, obviously-not-gonna loop-like-a-pro survivor.
3 -
Exactly. It will surely if you end up tunneling the wrong person.

Lol (?)

You realize simply throwing on perks isn't "skill", right?
3 -
tunneling is out of control it's every single game now wich make the game awful and really not fun to play for survivors and with the anti tunnel perks that has been nerfed to oblivion there's nothing survivors can do. they really need to do something about it.
0 -
You could loop the killer? They can't tunnel what they can't catch.
4 -
Basically tunneling first survivor you find every game is gamble. If they are any decent, you are going to lose.
It's usually better to chase multiple survivors before you decide who will die first.
3 -
Ok but read me again:
As I said: I DON'T tunnel. NEVER. Still, the game punish me for NOT doing that with sweaty matches and so on. What's the point in saying all this?
1 -
He just says that those who can't solve the skill issue should rely on perks.
3 -
We recommend using breakdown
0 -
Who do you think they tunnel the hardest? Newer survivors that don't know how to loop. "Just loop" is not a solution.
1 -
Funny you say that cause I just got Jeff, working on him, now.
0 -
Perks that are stuck behind pay/grind wall for many new survivors.

Tunneling is not something new. Posts like yours are not new. If devs have refused to completely eliminate tunneling or make it a reportable offense on year 8 of the game, there's a good reason for it.
Their vision and your vision of how survivor gameplay should be probably differ, whether you choose to accept their vision and continue to play their game is up to you. Good luck OP

Tunnelling isn't new at all, it's been there (to a lesser degree) since day 1. It's simple: It's the easiest and most efficient way to win and getting one Survivor out early is the best slowdown. For players wanting to win, it's the best option. Although basekit BT made it a bit harder, making it downright impractical requires several perks and even those are often wasted.
However ever since 7.5.0 it's been so much worse than before and I can understand why: Killers, especially those on that aren't powerhouses (which is like 80% of them) have taken a serious blow to their gen slowdown since the ill-thought-out "Anti-3-gen system" since all regression perks (alongside all non-regression kick perks) except Pain Res/Pop take away 1/8th of regression events for very little payoff (Surge and Eruption in particular are simply counterproductive if Survivors don't go down easy and try to swarm high-traffic gens since the gens might be nearly blocked by the end, there's videos of this).
Tunnelling can't be fixed entirely, it's simply impossible, but it can be mitigated and discouraged in a few ways. Making the gen system only kick-in during the last gen would be a good start (to relieve some stress for weaker Killers and broaden perk variety and viability) and the upcoming DS buff (they can't really nerf it further so it's gotta be some kind of buff) will likely help a bit too.

Just play as a survivor with the perk. What if a trapper wants Blink? Would you give it to him if he was a beginner? No, you definitely won't.
1 -
Thats a huge nerf to killers
0 -
Not if you're new, but last I checked you were not new - you're complaining about an issue that the fix for lies within your capabilities.
And newer lobbies don't have slowdowns, so punishing tunnels would only harm those matches anyways.
1 -
So that's now the killers fault? The survivor objective is easily accessible. You act like survivors magically get thrown on hooks now?
4 -
You're saying we should just stop doing gens. Like that's going to stop you from tunneling. You know it won't.
0 -
I mean there is perks which block off gens when a survivor is hooked, why not the other way around at this point? That would feel GREAT
0 -
Are we seriously still doing Us vs Them?
Both sides complete their objective because it wins them the game. That fact is independent of the way the other side acts.
3 -
Exactly. There are literally more gen regression/block perks than there are anti tunneling perks. And DS is weak.

Please let me know this is a prank take

it's sarcasm

My first thought was laugh. Then I recalled multiple other posts and thus my first comment.

It's an extremely simple logic. The killer can only target one survivor, but the survivors can target up to 3 gen. Since the difference in the number of moves is obvious, there is a perk that temporarily increases the number of moves by meeting the conditions.
2 -
Any and every excuse to stop survivors from being able to defend themselves.
0 -
no. Both they will be attacked and will consume each other. This is because such mutual attrition is inevitable, and it is necessary to act actively for the advantage of one's side. It's not about being sloppy, it's about being brave, diligent, and not lazy. You don't have to break a sweat, but it's great that both of survivors and killer.
2 -
Bring sabo and flashlights, you have to think and make your own fun in dbd. Survivors actually have the resources to do anything now, killers don't especially if they can't hook.
2 -
Yeah I do that anyways, Decisive being rebuffed will turn the game upside down anyways and stop the current tunneling situation.

Why are getting so emotional towards the players about something the Devs are pushing the game towards?
You probably will get your wish, the Devs always slam down on killer strats to make it harder and harder to actually get kills. But you and everyone like you need to start wanting the game to be pushed in a healthy direction, and start by actually trying to speak at the Devs with proper, rational ideas. No more emotional people beggeing for nerfs!
2 -
You won't stop the killing situation because killers have to kill. Eventually the killer player base will just lose interest in this game and move on, it's actually quite sad survivors understand their role completely, but they never understand the killer role, killers have to kill no matter what.
