Could physically fire Deathslinger's gun?
It's a question that's been on my mind.
I know you could reel a survivor in ALIVE as well the speed the spear goes and where it lands their heart would be destroyed if you instead say the intestines well they might live for you to reel in but you might also kill them trying to remove the spear.
I know it's a game but this is if you physically had his weapon.
So you have a single bullet that has to have enough force to hit this spear for it to go flying out and travel up to I'll just 12 meters now I know it won't come back to you like in the game since you would need it to travel at the same speed and somehow the gun has an auto reel in and even then the chain can't snag on anything. So my main question is if you fire it that it would actual travel up to 12 meters without the bullet possibly not able to push the spear that far it not being destroyed in side the gun as it might not have enough force and or the chain not getting snagged on anything while the spear is traveling.
Because a harpoon gun uses the same effect mostly instead using a strong amount of force but for Deathslinger its just a basic rifle bullet so in the end. Could you actual fire his gun and have this spear travel 12 meters without a problem.

We are talking about the same game in which survivors are put on meat hooks and can heal themselves by rubbing over their wounds. I say, don't think about it too much.

"without a problem"? no. there are many problems.
including, a metal spear is heavy as ######### and the power to make that fly as fast and far as it does in game would likely be insane.

It's a hypothetical question.

The same game where you can get hit by a chainsaw but because you dab can continue running.

This may answer your question though.

I mean I'm pretty sure if you got the right gunpowder to force ratio someone could potentially create a workable replica of something that fired a spike attached to a chain from a barrel. It would most likely be completely ripped out of the persons hands after firing it though unless it hit something before it reached the end of the chain and maybe even taking a few fingers with it.

i thought his harpoon gun is fishing gun. It is just that deathslinger is not fishing fish. he is fishing live humans.

Doing a little research on harpoon guns, it seems many don't use a bullet, just a blank cartridge. So you aren't physically hitting the metal hook, you are propelling it. I don't know if it is ever specified in the lore that he is specifically using a bullet.
Could you fire a harpoon 12 meters with a chain? I'd say yes. I can't find a video of people firing harpoon guns with chains, which would likely harm the already bad accuracy, but I don't think it would become impossible to fire.

In Deathslingers lore he actually had that problem with his gun being too good at harpooning through targets. Eventually, after lots of trial and error he found a way to have the gun be effective but not fatal like it used to be. Additionally, the gun and parts related to it are his personal creations so they could work. But likely it is just the entity doing its magic to have people suffer and not die.
TLDR lorewise Deathslinger tinkered with his stuff to make it not kill people. Or its the entity making more people suffer.

no it's a rifle. but does work kinda like a fishing gun.
except of course, comparison wise, fishing guns are extremely light and being underwater helps. also the harpoon and line weight almost nothing.
seriously, people underestimate the amount of force required to launch a harpoon like he uses in the game. the recoil alone is probably separating someone's arm from their shoulder.

I think I'm also trying to more look at it without all the fancy digging in files since I don't play on pc and I'm not a major tech person so seeing his reload animation I'm thinking he's putting a full bullet in and not just a cartridge with some gun powder. Because if it is a proper bullet it would cause problems as the bullet would hit the harpoon and ricochet off of it since it wouldn't just dead stop.

The amount of force needed to fire the spear would no doubt shatter the user's shoulder first.

pretty sure it is a full bullet. that is another issue

Yeah there would be no way to physically hold it and have the body take that kind of recoil without injury. Most likely the force it would take it would need a steel bolted placement if the goal is accuracy and impact.

In the lore Deathslingers prototypes kept ripping people guts out

If that bothers you, don't try to reason out how the mori would work.

should rip his arm off too...

I mean you can just YouTube harpoon gun and see rifles that fire harpoon spikes very similar size. It's not going to require any significant force to fire at 15m and definitely won't be shattering your shoulder.
You got 50 cal rifles that are accurate to 2km that have ridiculous amounts of kickback that won't break your shoulder.
