Hot Take: Basekit Windows and Basekit Zanshin would be Extremely Healthy for the Game

Often times a big thing newer and intermediate level players struggle with is map variations and pallet spawns. Each new map only exacerbates this issue, no matter how easy to learn they might be. It can be extremely daunting for new players to be thrown around from map to map without ever getting the sense they're comfortable enough with their knowledge of each individual layout.

Something that I think would curtail this issue is Basekit WoO and Zanshin, as it gives a level playing field where all players know of the immediate options and plays in the area. It would serve as an indirect buff to blindness, making many add-ons and perks a good bit more viable. It solves the issue of Windows being the highest used survivor perk, cause now everyone has it. Killers get an outright buff that lets them better grasp the loops they're committing to.

To be frank, I feel like everyone wins with this. Thoughts?

Very well put, while it would be a nice benefit for map knowledge, it could also disrupt the balance in quite a fierce way. While I don't think the idea couldn't work completely, it wouldn't be nearly as simple as just adding both perks at base.

Give the survivors basekit bond and windows and alert and kindred and better together and left behind so they can turn their brain off completely

...Ehhh, I don't know. I do get the idea you're going for that it'll make the game more accessible for newer players, but learning all the tiles for window and pallet locations is a key part of mastering survivor in DBD and making WoO baseline only lowers the skill ceiling for survivors. Having the locations handed to you without WoO wouldn't make it as satisfying to outplay the killer in chase, at least with WoO you're taking up a perk slot.

I'm a Zanshin connoisseur myself but it's not nearly as powerful as Windows because it's the survivor's concern to escape the chase by using those components and allows you to avoid broken pallet tiles, while as the killer you're going to be lead to the components by the survivor anyways.

I honestly feel like it would be too overwhelming and cluttered for new players to just see so much on screen at once, especially as Killer (and even worse if they are playing someone like Trapper with trap auras added into the mix)

If they want to use WoO or Zanshin to help new players, then they should just make them universal perks rather than base kit.

What is really needed is for everyone to have the knowledge and means to access things like map introduction videos. This is the worst part of the dbd community, even if such material is available, many people either don't know, deliberately ignore it, or don't want to learn it.

I understand your thinking but one reason I don't like to use WoO is because I feel overstimulated using it. The auras just interfere with my map perspective. I've never used ZT but I imagine it would be the same. I suppose if there were a way to turn it off that would be preferable.

Wow now I have permanent yellow auras all over my screen as killer this is great!

I don't agree and I was one who consistently stated that Windows is perfectly fine as it is but I have changed my mind a bit to feel that perhaps it gives a bit too much info with literally no downside or any requirements to get value from it. I personally stopped using Windows as a survivor as it feels like a crutch more than anything

Zanshin is niche and should stay that way imo so for me that is a definite no on that.

Imo I agree because the game is already difficult as is especially for new survivor players.

but just slapping on WoO as basekit shouldn’t happen because that removes its purpose and like others say it would make the survivor a lot more boring and somewhat unfair for killer since killers don’t necessarily need to know where pallets and vaults are because it doesn’t really matter to them making this change just a flat survivor buff

heres a alternative idea for seeing pallets and vaults: allow maps to reveal vaults and pallets as a add on and in their basekit. Would make maps a solid option as a item and give newer players a way to help with chases and navigating the map.

In what world are Windows and Zanshin's tactic same power level?

Zanshin's tactic is more annoying than helpful for most killers.
