Congratulations BHVR
You've absolutely destroyed solo q with this update, it was playable before but now half these "geniuses" think it's smart to sit in the basement half the trial to activate a perk....the fact you would allow that perk to go through just shows what your intentions are with the game in general

Well, people asked for survivors to receive a second objective/passive slowdown for killers… here you are. 🤭

It just baffles me anyone thinks it's worth running, literally what happens is they do nothing for two minutes then you hear the noise for completion and then they go down 2 seconds later because the just gave themselves broken and told the killer where they are lmao.
12 -
I would like a second objective but not one that has survivors just sitting in the basement half the match, its not actively progressing anything really because a whole 10 charges off a gen isn't worth that

I'm sure plenty of people are testing to see how viable it is right now on live. No different than any other bad perk we've gotten in the past. It will even out eventually.

Weaving Spiders would actually be an interesting perk, but it seems way to weak.
It takes 120 seconds and it even afflicts the broken status effect for the rest of the trial, so something worthwile would be more reasonable.
What if it finishes one random generator? That would actually be pretty good and would add something to the game, for both sides. But devs are way to scared to give survivors anything decent these days.

I think people are just trying it out because it’s a new perk. The chapter just released yesterday. Thankfully I’ve only seen like 3 people using it and I played for hours yesterday. I think most people know it’s a ######### perk lol

lets be honest if the perk where that good it would still be unusable cause all killer would run terretorial or just patrol basement to get a nice nasement hook
6 -
Exactly , if leatherface goes down there in the middle of it the game is over you've pretty much lost when 2 survivors get instantly taken out

It would create an interesting scenario. Should i waste a perkslot as killer to simply counter a non-existing ghost? Or should i risk it and ignore the possibility?
Some perks can be pretty good even tho they are not in play. Unbreakable for example.

true but i think there would be a mind game for both sides. is it worth taking the perk and trying to do it or is the killer runnign teretorial and im on hook 5seconds after i enter the basement?
overall the idea of invocations is super interesting i just dont now if bhvr has the ability to properly balance them

I’m surprised that I haven’t seen anyone talk about what I think is easily the worst part of the perk, it loses progress when you stop, and quickly.
That minute and a half you just spent trying to get this perk to work? It’d be a shame if someone went down next to the basement and you just spent 90 seconds (a literal full solo gen) doing absolutely nothing.

This.
It really makes no sense there is so much downside for little reward and a big time sink. It's a detriment to use Weaving Spiders.
Honestly, if Weaving Spiders was a real "Killer Perk" exactly as described, it would be worth using!!!
BHVR really doesn't want survivors to have new perks to use.

Time exchange on Gen like this is not good at all.
- Vittorio exchange 27sec of realtime for 18sec of Gen, and killer can "instantly regress" all that work with a single hit.
- Now we have 120sec of realtime for 50/70sec of Gen, come with permanent Broken that helps killer to make the chase half long.
Since the PTB, I saw killers complain about this perk. But not anymore because the perk is obviously bad.
I heard that you have to commit to the invocation? Means leaving mid way will reset the whole thing?
5 -
I don't see invocations in use in my games, but I do see people running to the basement after every hit to try and heal.

It's just a bad time right now. Survivors are messing around and trying things out, and killers are still sweating pretty hard. It's a bad combo, but it will pass.
0 -
Yeah it’s like sloppy butcher where you stop and it quickly starts regressing
1 -
I'd give them a pass for the first week. It's a new mechanic, they wanna test it out. They'll stop soon once they repeatedly get caught by BBQ and Chilli or killers checking basement for that survivor who has conveniently been missing for awhile. Or maybe after watching their team mates die on first hook one too many times. Regardless, they'll soon catch on that it doesn't really help their chances at escape.

What if I wanna do a seance

This perk has now caused a mass problem in almost every match I have where one or two gens get done and that's it because there's always one or two survivors running the perk trying to pull it off only to get hooked within the first 2 mins of the game.
1 -
I played 3 games as killer last night and got two 4ks and a 3k with hatch. Not one single gen was completed in any of those matches!
Just reinforced why I'm not touching survivor solo queue for at least another week because it's just people throwing match after match at the moment for a perk that will only ever work for a 4 man SWF with very specific builds and even then they need the killer to be pretty bad and not realising what is going on.
4 -
It's unfortunately another mechanic a lot better in swf than solo.
In swf you can have 3 people leg it down to the basement and have the invocation done within 40 seconds at the cost of only one of them being broken. In solo you're just out of luck lol.

The update has been out for 2 days. People want to try out the new shiny thing. This happens every single time new perks/killers/etc come out. Once the novelty wears off things will go back to normal, just like every time before this one.
7 -
Give it time, people are doing the achievement and testing out the new survivor. The games are always wild after updates like this.
2 -
Once they add more Invocation perks I think it will be okay. Right now it’s awful simply because you spend so much time on a pretty meh effect. However once they add more perks, spending 2 minutes to gain the effect of 4 perks doesn’t seem too bad, and less time when multiple survivors join in.
Right now however, yeah it’s pretty bad.

Yes, they will be like boons. We all know how great and fun boons were before they were made useless.
1 -
Boons were never good, it was just CoH was busted. And since CoH was the first one released it just tarnished the image of boons. Other Boons have barely been adjusted and we’re always garbage.
But unlike Boons, Invocation perks didn’t release with a broken, game defining perk. So there’s nowhere for this mechanic to go but up!
2 -
Yea I hope but I'm not holding my breath, I mean we got people who still use self care in the corner .

A perk that creates a mindgame or a threat is still better then most survivor perks we got recently 😉
1 -
I love taking the invocation perk and never using it. It spawns the circle in the basement so the killer can go see that and then waste time periodically checking down there.
1 -
Watch it become the new No Mither where you just see someone bring it and have that moment where you kinda roll your eyes like dammit here we go again.
1 -
They probably thought “damn that Alan Wake boom didn’t hook survivors back to that time-wasting mechanic like we thought. Let’s do it again but call it something else!” and thus invocations were born. Weaving Spiders is one of the best killer perks in the game right now.
4 -
Yes, the game warns you the invocation is finished.
2 -
More like a microwave going off telling you your leftovers are ready downstairs, by that time someone is either already gone or is about to be
6 -
Now they have bots I honestly don't blame someone for DCng as soon as the auras start showing around the circle , if 2 survivors are there right off Rip you might as well go afk and just let them kill you or move on to the next match there's no fun in a 2v1 the killer would have to be extremely bad to fail, if one gets hooked and the other starts getting chased while 2 are in the basement it's a wrap, match finished you're not coming back from it if you allow 2 people to take 100 percent of the heat that long with no gens popping
2 -
They destroyed solo q and SWF with all updates in last year, this update just made clear how absurd all balance decisions they made were
2 -
Thinking about the new perk, it would be an interesting challenge for a SWF to repair all seven gens to 90-99% and pop them all from the basement. Idk if the perk works that way and you would have to keep up with the gen kicks. But an interesting thought.
0 -
Otz and friends did just that recently, it was a fun stream to watch.
1 -
Yea the perk is pretty bad actually I'm just gonna say terrible and completely useless. Some number tweaks again might help idk. I do know though that sitting in the basement for 2 minutes no matter how many gens are left is just a waste of time especially with the new 3 gen mechanic in place. Its a cool sounding perk but even with no risk of the killer coming down its a huge waste of time. Even with 4 people on it its not worth the basically 4 gens you could pop at the same time instead of doing the invocation together.
1 -
I did it with some friends, it only took a couple of tries. 90-99ing a bunch of gens was always a good and strong strategy anyway.
1 -
someone is either already gone or is about to be
Yes you’re right about that 🔪💀🪦
1 -
The main problem is them showing your aura to your teammates. This perk didn't need to show anything. Just let the one person go down and do what they want without having the whole team know so people without a mind of their own (most solo Q Survivors) don't come down and waste even more time sitting there.
1 -
To put it into perspective in two minutes if 3 survivors were all doing gens and one was being chased you would have 3 gens completed and the last 2 in progress, compared to being at five gens and multiple survivors staring at eachother in the killers lair for a measley 10 charges
1 -
The only build so far I got to make Weaving Spiders work required No Mither+Fixated for a permanent stealth build, and it required me playing David to fool killers into thinking I'm going for David Adept.
I still feel like Resilience would been more useful than praying.
0 -
Lol, it wasn't playable before.
1 -
I was doing just fine before personally, I feel like it was in a good place as far as quality of life for a solo player but right now it's miserable and hopefully it's just a new update thing but ya never know with the iq of some of these people they may think it's genuinely a good idea, it's like the people who still self care in the corner 8 years later
0 -
No I'm with the other guy I play solo 99% of the time it hasn't been good in years.
0 -
The perk should have some activation condition like be in basement for 5s then its active until you use it (starting a heal with it uses it and it deactivates when you become fully healed so no 99% heal then have a teammate finish the heal) so its a grace basement with your presence then its better selfcare for a while

nahhh perk is fine.
